We’ve been here a dozen times. The food is always good. My in-laws finally joined us for dinner here for my birthday. After 2 years of telling them how amazing the food & service is… it was 1.5 hours before we got our food, the waiter took the drink order & promptly left before I could even order the Meatry board, one of the pork chops was mostly fat, the steak had more fat than I’ve ever had there (I’ve ordered the steak at least 2 other times).
The Meatry Board was delicious as well as the venison. But the rest of the meal & service was not up to the usual.

As fans of Top Chef, we’ve been interested in checking out Chef Toups’ namesake restaurant and we were not disappointed!! All of our dishes from the coolinary menu were top notch and we expected nothing less. The flavor and seasoning of each dish was impeccable. Perfect spot for a Friday night out!
This is a must on any traveler’s New Orleans experience. Chef Toups and his crew are masters of their craft.

Our waiter seemed frustrated and frenzied from the time we entered and until the time we we left. He didn't seem to care if we were there or not. We were not a difficult or fussy table. Thirty-five minutes after ordering the creole salad I asked the waiter about the salad (thinking he had either forgotten to put in the order, or it was waiting for him to deliver it to the table). It wasn't a big deal. He seemed defensive and stated they were short staffed and are doing the best they can. After receiving our lunch entree, he did not come back to the table and until bringing the check (didn't stop by to see how everything was or to see if we wanted to order dessert). I was a little embarrassed that I had recommended to my co-worker that we have lunch there to celebrate a personal milestone. It was the first time my co-worker had eaten at Toups.
Coolinary menu, excellent choices, HAd the chilled cran & corn bisque as a refreshing app and warm shrimp salad entree, a true shock. Both terrific.
Everything was excellent. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

Toups Meatery never disappoints! It me and my wife go to dining out spot now. Always great service and staff is super knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The toups burger is unrivaled with its perfect blend of flavors. It makes me dance with every bite! My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Meatery board as much as I enjoyed the burger. Our waiter is hands down the coolest dude and best waiter ever. 10 out of 10 I recommend Toups Meatery.
I order the steak and I was like rubber. After chewing and not being able to swallow each piece, I sent it back. They didn't have fried livers. I am never returning. 😞

We had a reservation and checked in about 10 minutes early, so we decided to wait outside while they got our table ready. I believe there was a miscommunication among waitstaff because they seated 2 other couples, then came out and asked us if we had checked in yet. We got seated about 10 minutes after our reservation time.
One of the items we were most excited for was the turkey necks, but they were sold out. That was disappointing, but not unheard of late on a Saturday night. We ordered some drinks and the cheese platter. The cheese platter took over 20 minutes and arrived before our drinks did. When it came time to order our entrees, my husband ordered the pork chop but was told it takes 45 minutes to cook, so he decided to order the chicken confit instead. I ordered the venison. A table nearby ordered the pork chop about 20 minutes after us and their food came out about 5 minutes after ours, so he probably should have just ordered the pork chop.
The food was alright, but not what we expected from a celebrity-level chef, and it was fairly expensive. Everything was pretty salty and not quite balanced. Overall, the best thing that came to the table was the pineapple pisco drink.
The service was lacking the whole time. Our server disappeared for awhile and we had tons of time between when we saw her. We were very excited about coming here and ended up pretty disappointed.
It had been at least five years since our last meal at Toups and this one may have been even better than the last. Absolutely delicious. My husband loves the lamb neck and ate every morsel. I had the crabmeat salad which was phenomenal. Our daughter who is a vegetarian loved her cheese plate and my son enjoyed his chicken confit. Will not wait another 5 years to return.
Excellent meal. The seafood couvillion was out of this world. Already making plans to return with family.
Food excellent. Nice break between courses, but it took forever to bus dishes. Maybe 45 minutes. Didn’t want dessert after that wait, just ready to leave.

Took a dear friend to dinner here, and we absolutely loved it. Food, atmosphere, service… everything was awesome. I’ll definitely be back. There’s not a thing on the menu I haven’t loved. Also, this restaurant does a lot for the community, so supporting this local gem also supports the community.
We were going for a Louisiana experience and we got just that! The Meat board offered a sampling of a lot of foods we had never tried before. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of things we did like, there were a few we didn't, but that was ok. The experience was great!

Wonderfully delicious fare. My wife and I throughly enjoyed the wonderfully curated home style food. Everything was beyond our expectations.
Best meal out in a while. Food was different and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. One person in our group ended up having to suddenly go home and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Can’t wait to go back!

There were 5 of us. Early lunch time of 11:30. 3 burgers and 2 fish sandwiches. All excellent. Med-rare burgers were cooked perfectly.
Chicken livers, chicken liver mousse, & a phenomenal Redfish Benny will keep me comin back and my first time guests were wowed! Fantastic service.

Went for nola restaurant week
Toups’ was absolutely amazing! The ambience, the friendly staff, the food- it was all fantastic. We had the 3 course meal for NOLA Restaurant Week, and are so glad we chose this place! It’s practically in our backyard, but away from all the tourist traps. The food was flavorful and excellently prepared, with large portions and very reasonable pricing for the quality of food and service that you get. We will definitely be back!
My son ordered the 3-course prix fixe for $39, 1st course was a teeny amount of soup, second course was 4 shrimp, dessert was basically corn bread with cream on top. All tasted very good, but should have set us back $22 at most. For 3 people, dinner, drinks, and 20% tip was $218. Commander's would have cost about the same for what we got. And while the food and service were great, this is no Commander's.
This Restaurant was chosen for Restaurant Week and what a disappointment. 3 friends dirty rice looked dirty no flavor, needed salt. The exception was the roasted lamb’s neck which me & one friend ordered. It was delicious & a hardy dish, and needed to-go box. Overall, no desire to return & we unanimously give this restaurant a score of 0F, with 5F being best/highest score.

My steak was badly overcooked. None of the dishes had descriptions so there was no way to know that the crab claws were covered in cilantro. IT TOOK THEM TWO HOURS AFTER WE ORDERED TO SERVE US DINNER on a Thursday night.
The entire experience from start to finish was outstanding. Our waiter Gabe was on top of his game and couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful with recommendations. The food was outstanding and we cannot wait to go back. Go now!
Tried restaurant week for the first time ever and had a great experience. The ambience was nice and felt comfortable. The food was great and the service was very nice as well. Ate at a normal table but would love to come again and dine at the bar area.
