Ordered appetizer and drinks. Took 20 minutes to get the appetizer, no big deal. Server forgot to put our the rest of our order in and didn’t come back to the table for half an hour. (It wasn’t busy) When the server came back he apologized and gave us another beer on the house. Then they brought us a free appetizer to make up for the long wait. Nearly 2 hours after being sat we got our food. Burger and chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was completely burnt. They comped our meal and offered us food or drink to go but we declined.
My wife and I both thought the food was just outstanding.
Phenomenal food and excellent service! Toups is a must
had the mussels off the new fall menu. Spectacularly good. A big serving of fresh, large mussels over a bed of black-eyed peas full of flavor and sided by a toasted thick slice of rustic bread. Can't wait to go back to try the rabbit & dumplings.
4 four dinner for hubbies birthday. Got both the Meatery board and the Cheese plate for apps. Just amazing. Everything on the boards were outstanding, especially the “candy pork” and the foiegras were amazing. Hubbies pork chop was massive, although a bit overdone. The duck, redfish and chicken dishes were all grand, and the beg they were served with were all amazing, especially the sauce that came with the lima beans under the duck. This is a true high-end Southern restaurant and a real joy. Our service was so wonderful; all the staff cheery and attentive. Highly recommend!
Great food, drinks and excellent service.
All of the food we got was amazing! We left so satisfied.
I just love this place. The lamb neck is ridiculous!
Chicken liver mousse was awesome! Rabbit with dumplings was comfort food with great flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly and flavorful.
Very disappointing experience. Food was good, not great. Hostess person nasty, foul language, disrespectful toward guests. Unfortunately, I was sitting at bar next to the entrance and had to endure her behavior. Left drinks and food behind to get away from her.
There were 4 of us dining, all in town for vacation. The ambiance upon entering was more midwestern feeling than NOLA feeling. We were seated in a corner just off the entrance. I actually sat in the corner. It was so incredibly loud for me as we believe I was getting the noise 2x as it reverberated off the corner. Putting some sort of dampeners in that corner could help a lot.
The service was slow and the server had no interest in chatting with us. We could barely ask her suggestions as she made us feel rushed when she was actually present at our table. They could have been short staffed so I won’t say more on this topic.
The food was good. The Meatery board was quite interesting! I’d recommend that all day. Unique finds for us. We all got different meals so we could try each other’s: Couvillion, Rabbit, Duck, and Chicken were all ordered. All cooked well and tasty enough.
Overall we were satisfied but underwhelmed at the experience. It’s not a place we would return to with so many dining options available in the area.
Great place. Food was great,
Service too. Worth the trip!
The crab gratin with savory beignets was amazing.
Brought my out of town parents to Toups. I couldn’t recommend the Cassoulet more highly. It was fantastic. The Rabbit & Dumplings was outstanding and a solid comfort food as the weather changes.
“We came here for brunch on Sunday. We made reservations ahead of time on open table. When we got there we were asked for our COVID vaccination cards by the hostess, the chef’s wife, to be seated. We all had our vaccination cards present but preferred to sit outside. Though we asked to sit outside, we were still prompted to show our vaccination cards. I was under the impression that vaccination cards were not required for outdoor dining; we were rudely spoken to when inquiring further. The establishment was run very militant in regards to COVID. A lot of minorities are unvaccinated, so the outdoor dining requiring vaccination proof is exclusive to various communities wishing to participate in outdoor, COVID-safe dining. Additionally, one of the staff members (a guy who was heavily tattooed) was very defensive and rude as we were conversing about our experiences with COVID vaccination proof at the comfort of our table, with our friends. He told us that we can eat somewhere else if we don’t like their militant rules. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone because of the way we were treated. With that being said our waiter Gabriele was really amazing.”
Fabulous food and a great dining experience.
Basically we were ignored after our appetizer so we didn't stay for dinner. Overcooked shrimp. Noisy staff conversation at the bar. Incredibly disappointing.
Totally blown away by the lump crab salad. Knew it would be good. But it was great.
Absolutely delicious food; I'm recommending Toups to anyone and everyone I know who visits New Orleans. I had the marinated crab claws and the wagyu steak. The crab claws were amazing and had the perfect hit of heat to them. The steak was great, but the potatoes that accompanied the steak may have been my absolute favorite part of the meal. They might actually be the best thing I had to eat in New Orleans.
Toups is a casual spot, meant to make you feel like a local. The food seemed very typical of cajun fare, but with a fresh twist.
We went for a Sunday night dinner. The only negative stuff happened up front - We walked in and it took about 2 minutes to be greeted and seated so we kind of awkwardly stood there before being placed in a busy, loud and very crammed back room. After that, everything was very positive so chalk it up to a bad first impression. Our waitress was friendly, hospitable and attentive. The food was excellent. We tried the boudin balls, cornbread, cucumber salad, couvillion and venison with spatzle. Everything was delicious and portions were generous. Overall, we’d definitely go back.
We had a great meal at Toups. The food is the star, it was Cajun and terrific. The flavors were exactly what I hoped, spicy and rich but not too heavy. We will be back soon.
If you’re not eating here you’re doing it wrong. Isaac is almost perfect & Amanda is a boss. Their team rocks & their cocktails are good too. The food doesn’t even need a review. It’s perfection. GO.
Good was very good!! The service was spot on. Waitress was exceptional
Delicious and creative meals. Pleasant waitress but service a bit slow. Nice place but noisy.
We loved dining at Toups Meatery. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. One of the best meals we had while in New Orleans. Definitely worth a trip!
Just amazing. The ideal New Orleans experience.
Very tasty,hearty,moderately spicy
comfort Cajun fusion meal.
Great service after 15 min mix up
Very apologetic but no free drink
Excellent tasting dishes made from the best ingredients.
I would definitely go again and plan to do so.
Covid undoubtedly impacted their service capabilities.
Awesome. Watched the Saints game. Took shots with a group of aunties. I love Toups!
Spectacular! Hadn’t been in awhile and was glad we decided to stop in for brunch. Looking forward to making this a regular dining favorite!
My buddy and I had brunch today at Toup’s and everything was delicious. We ordered a variety of small plates, the mastery board, and the seared Foie Gras…obviously way too much for two people but we love appetizers. The Foie Gras literally melt in your mouth, it was so buttery. The crab claws is a must and if you love charcuterie board, definitely get the mastery board. As amazing as the food, the service was amazing!
As a New Orleanian, I want to begin with expressing my gratitude to chef Isaac Toups for his work with World Central Kitchen, COVID and hurricane relief, and his family meals. It is one of the reasons we continue to dine at Toups. That and the food is delicious! My husband and I were excited to go last night, sit outside and enjoy the fall weather. We were hopeful that a new fall menu would be released, unfortunately is has not. The menu has not changed since the spring. The summer menu was a no show and there are rarely off menu specials. That being said, the food is always great.
I can’t say the same for service. Everyone has always been pleasant and smiling, lovely people. Even pre-COVID, service was always slow. We knew we couldn’t go to Toups if there was a time crunch or have somewhere to be after dinner. Last night took the cake… I understand that everyone is short staffed these days. We were seated, ordered wine and an app in a timely manner but then 45 minutes passed and our waitress didn’t return to take our entree orders. Wine, apps, and water were delivered by others. Our waitress walked past us at least 10 times but never stopped at the table. After being there an hour, we asked for the check - from a different server - paid and left disappointed. We want to support our local restaurants and loved Toups. Unfortunately, I think it will be some time before we return.
Cool atmosphere, nice bar. Food was delicious and service was good. Double cut pork chop was delicious.
look around you, see all the open tables? How much longer can you expect this or any other restaurant to hold on? Overtip your server, have a pleasant word for additional staff. Let's get through this together.
Door was opened earlier than it should have been. We went inside, but then we’re told to go outside to wait… in the New Orleans heat… with two kids. Food was fine, but not great- same about the cocktails
Wait staff friendly, food tasty. Saints on tv today, a bit of a downer.
tip your servers, be friendly to staff you meet. They're putting long hours to try to make your day a little better, return the favor.
We were warmly welcomes, as always! The staff here, the owners, the ambiance, the overall experience - ALWAYS on point. ALWAYS amazing! The food here, however, is the real star. If you would like a sampling of everything, get the Meatery Board! Also, the cracklins and dirty rice are the best I have ever had in my face! After such a heavy start, I opted for a lump crab salad that was out of this world - complete with pickled quail eggs. Cocktails are delicious and inventive, and their wine list is approachable, with something delicious for everyone!
I'm trying to be supportive of my regular restaurants, in this case, post-Ida Toups.
