Enjoy American Southwestern cuisine featuring salads, sandwiches, pasta, fresh seafood, mesquite-grilled steaks, and house-made desserts. One menu is served all day. Tonto Bar & Grill, gives diners a view of modern desert life with a peek into the past. The restaurant sits on what was once Native American land and later used as a stopover camp for the U.S. Cavalry, and the building itself was part of the prestigious Rancho Mañana dude ranch. It’s chock-full of the charm of earlier eras, displaying ranching implements, vintage 1940s photos and original architecture. Today, friendly service, fine casual cuisine, and comfortable atmosphere combine for a rustic yet upscale dining experience.

Have eaten here a number of times. Love the atmosphere and the food is always wonderful. Incredible wait staff
Love coming here. Good, somewhat inventive food with attentive but not obtrusive service. Prices moderate. What they deliver is consistency. Hard to find these days. Absolutely no flash in the pan.
One of my favorite spots and again it didn’t disappoint me. I’m addicted to the schnitzel so had to order that. As always fabulous. Sadly the weather didn’t cooperate and we couldn’t sit outside on the terrace (always hoping to see the herd of javelinas that sometimes pass by), but still had a nice cozy dinner with great service. We will return!!!! Again and again....
Birthday surprise fir a friend. Very good meal, lovely setting
Tonto is on the list of restaurants that we go to every week. They have wonderful gluten free dairy free choices and one of the ONLY places that has a gluten free dairy free chocolate cake for dessert. Need I say more? Excellent food. Good service.
Love the patio at Tonto even though it was a little chilly. Food is so good although a little overpriced. (They even make you buy bread with your meal)
Love this place, beautiful patio and fabulous food! Everything is good here!
Always excellent service. Would be fun to have the menu updated and/or add a couple of seasonal specials.
Meeting with friends in the area.
Food and service were excellent as usual. We try to get here whenever we are in the area and never disappointed.
The restaurant use to be one of our favorites but it has gone downhill as the last two times it was quite bad. Unfortunate since the ambiance and views are good. Won’t be back for dinner again may try lunch on patio hopefully safe with salads will see!
Great meal every time ! Outdoor dining is preferred by my family but anywhere works when the food is that good every time .
Very pleasant experience for my birthday dinner. Good food brought quickly, excellent server, Sara. Very attentive without being in the way. Good experience.
Brought my brother and sister-in-law for dinner. They loved it! My husband and I regularly celebrate birthdays and anniversaries at Tonto. The food is great, and the atmosphere can’t be beat!
Sand Dabs were good, but had to walk 1/2 mile to the restaurant from were we had to park. Up hill, in the dark, and my wife has a bad knee. Also, the restaurant has started adding the "P206" additional charge on their bills for the minimum wage increase, and they tried to bury it into the sales tax line so you might not see it. I deduct that amount from the tip I would normally leave.
Entrees arrived as we were still eating our salads. Need better coordination on these. My salmon was great. Mahi mahi on my wife's special was too well cooked (dry).
Dining at the Tonto Grill this weekend was a great experience. We had not been there in several months and had forgotten how good the food, service, and ambience in the outdoor dining area can be. If you can do so get a reservation for outside dining and try to get a table along the wall between the dining area and the golf course. if you get lucky you can watch Havelinas wander around the course while you eat.
My wife had a gluten free steak dinner that she raved about...especially the scalloped potatoes. i had the bone-in rib and it was "fall off the bone" tender with great flavor. The gluten free flourless chocolate/coconut cake at the end was excellent and rich enough to split.
Service was good without being over the top. Several tables arrived after us and the temperature was dropping. The staff was quick to roll out the patio heaters and keep it nice.
Love this place!
Always the best food, service & ambience. My favorite place! We had the sand dabs, the schnitzel & the walleye- great with a bottle of Riesling.
Desert was wonderful also.
as usual a great meal, creative menu, well seasoned but not life-threatening hot. Very special desert vistas over the golf course. Have made the trip many times over the years and it never fails to please our entire family
Recommend outdoor dining when you go, very easy to book reservations online.
Tonto Bar & Grill never disappoints. Every time we visit the Valley, this is one of our stops for dinner. The food is excellent. Impeccable service and the patio makes for a romantic even.
Still loving our special dining place for date night! Delicious food and wonderful service every time. Special treat from the patio tonight—3 bobcat cubs playing on the golf course at dusk!
Great drinks, meal and dessert for our anniversary dinner. We sat on the patio and the weather was great, even saw two small bobcats playing on the golf course.
Great place. An old favorite that slipped a few years ago, and is back to the quality we enjoyed.
Ambiance is great and staff is very courteous and friendly but menu selection is somewhat limited and four out of five people thought their food was just OK, not great.
Great outdoor seating, with a beautiful panoramic view of the golf course. Excellent food the crab cakes are the best, and it's well worth the drive. They serve brunch which is a nice option on a Sunday. Make sure you call for reservations, but they only take reservations for 6 or more.
We've been coming here for years and have always liked the food, but the value has gone down. Portions are smaller now, prices are higher, they charge $4.50 for a basket of bread, which used to be included with the meal. My wife had the scallops, which were $34 for 3 scallops. That's over $11 per scallop! They used to have more reasonably priced bottles of wine, but now it's hard to find anything under $50 a bottle. There are just too many good restaurants in the valley that offer a better value and great food too. We like the golf course setting, but I don't see us coming back more than once or twice a year.
Delicious as always. The only "negative" was the ladies were a little chilly. Patio heaters were not out that night.
Beautiful setting. We chose outside seating.
Simply amazing. Tonto Bar and Grill is a great place for either a special occasion or just a chill place for a weekday get away.
The food here is always great. This time our server didn't ever come back to check on our drinks and we had to flag down a different one, but this was the first time that the service was a let down. I would advise anyone visiting Cave Creek, Carefree, or Scottsdale to make sure to try this place as the food is awesome.
The food is great!
The service is terrific!
Can’t wait to go back!
Located on a beautiful golf-course, but much more atmosphere than your typical golf course restaurant. Both inside and patio dining are picturesque. Great place to take out of town visitors. Menu is top class with prices to match but it is still worth a visit!
Loved sitting outside now that the weather has cooled off. The food is consistently delicious and although we ordered off the menu, their specials for our local Restaurant Week looked tempting.
Always love the patio overlooking the golf course. Good options for going the salad-for-dinner route.
Would have like this visit paced a little better, though, as we were in and out in for dinner in less than 40 minutes. Yes, it's possible for service to be too fast!
A lovely setting and good food. The outdoor patios are beautiful and I imagine at sunset they would be even better.
An awesome patio dining experience.
We’ve eaten at Tonto’s numerous times. It is one of our if not our favorite Scottsdale area restaurants. We alwYs take out of town guests to Tonto’s requesting a patio seat. Our dinners this Restaurant week were not only a value, but fabulously delicious. The beat gazpacho was over the top. Our waiter was abit stand offish when we didn’t order beyond the Restaurant Week menu but that would not deter us from returning anytime.
Visited for AZ Restaurannt Week. Had 3 course meal and the food was fabulous. Sat on covered patio overlooking the golf course. Nice ambiance and a very enjoyable relaxing meal. Bartenders make a great bourbon old fashioned.
