The Tonga Room was a huge disappointment. The food was not good and severely overpriced — you're paying premium prices for something that tastes like a cafeteria meal. Drinks were just as overpriced and underwhelming. While the service was friendly and the live music was genuinely enjoyable, it's frustrating that the one redeemable part of the night — the music — comes with a cover charge. It just highlights how much you're spending overall for such low value. Between the subpar food, inflated prices, and added fees, I can’t recommend going. Not worth it.

What a fantastic experience! Food was soo yummy, EXCELLENT, EXCEPTIONAL, FANTASTIC SERVICE!! Our waiter was attentive, professional and personable! All the wait staff, SUPERB! We got to listen to the band play a few songs, so much fun and nostalgic and a great addition to the overall experience! Ohhh, and the Banana Split for dessert, YESSS!!! Thank you Tonga Room for an OUTSTANDING evening!

Food is under par for the price. It checks off a bucket list but I would never go back. I would not recommend this place.

I’ve been wanting to go here for years. Finally made a trip to SF and made reservations the moment it was available. We were sat in the corner by the front door, nowhere near the water or anywhere plesant, when every table was open but one. Drinks were $25 each, that should be a crime. The service was not very friendly, I felt unwelcome and unimportant. So disappointed, I will not be back.

We had a very poor experience when we chose to celebrate our anniversary at Tonga Room. We had a reservation but had to wait in line at the host stand from a distance while others went around us. The host asked us the same question multiple times. It seemed like she wasn’t listening or paying attention then she told us that we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Once we got to a table, the service was better but the food and drinks were a bit overpriced for the quality. If you are there when there’s live music, you have an additional cover cost. Overall my partner and I were disappointed and don’t plan to return any time soon.

Tourist trap. This may have been popular in the 1970s, but it’s very old right now. The food was expensive for what you got and really wasn’t good. Pass on this one

$62 for some dry steak, small shrimp, half cooked potatoes, and OK broccoli. Meh. At least the $25 Mai Tai was good, albeit overpriced.
