Great seafood! Hibachi chef was very good! Very happy with quality of food. Slow in the restaurant, but that didn't affect our good experience!
Tomo was fantastic offering an incredible variety without diminishing quality. Our waitress was outstanding and our party thoroughly enjoyed the location and timeliness of our meal.
The food was absolutely horrible. I love hibachi and that had to be the worst hibachi food I have ever eaten.
Went there for date night. Place seemed like it was dirty and not kept up with. They also charged us a gratuity of 29% for 2 people
The food was amazing the wine was amazing our server was AMAZING !!! The owner I believe he was very kind and amazing !!!! I highly suggest going / or ordering out !!!
The food was excellent are Hibachi chef was really good and the service was very good
Great all around experience! Would definitely go there again and recommend to anyone that is in the Cleveland area!
The experience overall was very poor. My family usually likes Hibachi grills quite a bit, but this is the worst one we've been to by far. And it is the only one we've been to that was not good. The soup served to us tasted very badly, kind of like dirty water. I usually like to order a hot sake with my hibachi dinner and did so on that evening as well. The sake was the worst I've ever had and tasted like it had been cut with vinegar. The actual main course was pretty good, but overall it was too salty - it was bearable though.
The waiter was terrible however, and messed up two orders. He didn't seem to know what was going on. I would not recommend spending your money here.
We got there a little late probably more than a little and they were very accommodating and the food was great
Food is excellent. Service is great, they make the hibachi experience a really fun time! Recommend all day long.
Absolutely awful. We were seated against the bar, kept getting run into and crammed together. Our sushi was delivered so late it was AFTER everyone had finished their hibachi dinners. My steak was extremely undercooked and my rice was burnt. The price was outrageous for the quality we got. Would not recommend. Ever.
staff was very rude and food was way under cooked would not recommend
Delicious food and great experience! Waitress was attentive and friendly without being over doing it. Hibachi chef was amazing! Will definitely return.
We went sushi and although it was a Saturday evening, there were not many patrons in the restaurant. Even though they were by no means busy, it took forever to place an order and we had to waive down our server any time we wanted anything, like a drink refill. This was made all the more annoying because there were servers just sitting around at some of the empty dining tables. While the serve left something to be desired, the food, however, was very good and was served promptly once we had a chance to order.
Our server was outstanding, as was the food. The Habachi chef seemed to rush through the presentation, which was the only disappointment.
We had a group of nine for a birthday celebration. Our server was quick with drink refills, our hibachi chef was amusing, entertaining and the food was deliciously cooked. The sushi rolls were beautiful. Hibachi steaks were perfectly done, the chicken was tender and the scallops were divine. After dinner, we ventured upstairs for the Saturday night All Male Review and were not disappointed! Hands down, this place was great -- best birthday celebration!
I really hate to write a negative review for a local business, but I hope the feedback helps the business to improve and do better.
My mother, who LOVES Japanese food, found a Groupon for the restaurant. We were happy to find a potential restaurant to patronize.
Our reservation was for 7:30. We walked in and our table was next to the bar, which was very loud. We asked if there was a quieter area to sit for dinner. There was not.
We started to smell smoke and looked at the bar to see people smoking from a Hookah pipe (VERY unexpected!). We would have walked out right then, but for the Groupon, so stayed to see what the food and service would be like.
Our server was cheerful, but did not know the menu. Mom ordered the tempura dinner. The server asked if it was the tempura roll, she said no, she asked if it was something else, mom, said no, she was asked if it was something other again, and we both chimed in "No!" and pointed to the menu item in the menu. We had never had such a hard time ordering at a restaurant...
The food was not authentic Japanese, though they did try to provide value with very large portions. We would have preferred quality over quantity.
I think 1 of the biggest issues, is that Tomo does not know who they want their target market to be: young 20 somethings celebrating bachelorette parties (there were 2 there that night) and bar, OR nice Japanese restaurant targeting families or travelers or people looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant experience.
They are located in the bar section of downtown Cleveland, so perhaps it was our mistake for not making that connection.
Food was great, just don’t understand the automatic $10 tip you charge. It actually takes away from the groupon deal
Overall i would go again. Food was great.. But my drinks were watered down
It was the best sushi by far I have had all year
Very welcoming and helpful with people with special needs. Set reservations there for a group of 10 and had everything ready, even a ramp for the wheelchairs. Food and entertainment was superb, and the chef was fun to be around. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a pleasant environment and excellent service!
So glad to find good sushi in Cleveland area. Originally from San Francisco CA area where there are many good sushi bard. Tomo's sushi is as good if not better than in CA.
The meat was over cooked and not served per the request of the patrons. We had hibachi, brought kids. Thought the chef would be more entertaining.
I found out about this place on Groupon, bought a coupon for $25 for $50 off. Made reservation for Sat June 15, then Tomo called and said they made a mistake and couldn’t honor reservation because they had a party of 40. Then I made reservation for next day and told them I would be using Groupon. Got there next day and Groupon was not honored because it was Fathers Day. NO WHERE on the Groupon terms did it say not valid on holiday. I asked for a manager and was told there was no manager ... then in a party of 4 with separate checks ... 20% gratuity was added to all of our checks!!! WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!
I don’t normally leave reviews, but this place is just not worth it and I don’t want anyone else to make the mistake of dropping $150 like I did...The hibachi chef told us his name was “Deborah” and pretended to speak Japanese by saying “Ching Chong Ching Chong.” Him and the waitress snickered to each other as if we didn’t realize.
After that exchange, he barely spoke at all and out hibachi experience was done within 7 minutes. No showmanship. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the $40+ entree price tag. They also don’t have a ginger sauce, which is not at all traditional.
The ambiance looks cheap and a little dirty (which made me surely not order any of the sushi.) The cocktail she made me was flat and STRONG. Got a beer instead and the glass was really dirty.
The only nice thing I’ll say is that the server was kind. She wasn’t great at her job, but she was friendly. Other than that, this place is rundown and probably more of a bar than an actual hibachi spot. Heck, just go to Benihana.
Since it was the only hibachi restaurant nearby, we figured we would give it a try. I usually never take the time to write bad reviews; however, I don’t think I will ever try this place again. The food was less than average and I had drinks spilled down my back by an employee. They gave us our salads for free because of the accident (the salads were plates of lettuce with dressing on top). Overall, not impressed.
Bizarre atmosphere for hibachi. Negative vibe. Somewhat dirty. Gratuity of 18% was added even though we only had a party of three. Food was not great. The chef was miserable and told us he was quitting because it was the worst hibachi restaurant he’s ever worked at. Sushi was just ok.
The food was fantastic. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, worth the money. The service wasn’t meeting the same standards. I wasn’t greeted with the “Birthday party for Two” reservations I booked. We were encouraged to disparage and disrespect a server in my review to get them fired and was told we were going to have excellent service but to our surprise didn’t receive it. The food was the saving grace, amazing quality, variety and it was presentable.
I felt that our service was the best it could be for the situation given...my hubby and I had dinner reservations and arrived promptly. There were unruly guests still occupying our requested hibachi table, basically they had overstayed their welcome and we're very ride to the staff. This caused a delay in receiving our table, but I felt the staff did their best to resolve the situation for us. The evening ended up still being wonderful and the food was really good!
Very nice upscale restaurant for the very hip and energetic people
Tables are bit tight if your seat backs up to the table behind you. Service and food were good. Kids wanted hibachi and this fit.the bill. Not a great spot but its a good spot.
My group of 6 had a reservation for 6:30 on a Saturday evening as we had to be at a show by 8:30. We were told upon arriving that they were running 30 minutes behind. That would’ve been ok, however, we had to wait 90 minutes to be seated at the hibachi table. Our chef was great, very funny, and the food was very good once we got it. This experience put us behind on getting to our show on time. Also, we were supposed to have 20% off with our show tickets but the server was unaware of this & had to ring up our tickets a second time for the discount. The manager should’ve given the server that information prior.
One of the worst meals we’ve had. Waited an hour for the hibachi chef when the restaurant was empty. The restaurant was left dirty from the other tables for half our meal. The staff was arguing in the dining room. Won’t be going back.
We had an early dinner at Tomo last Friday and the dinner itself was delicious like previous visits. We used a $50 Groupon which made the meal a good value. The Hibachi chef and our server were both courteous and professional, so the service and promptness of our meal were fine, along with generous portions. Towards the end of our dinner as we were boxing portions to take home and preparing to pay the check, a noisy group of people entered and sat at the Hibachi table directly behind us. These people obviously had been drinking as they were way too loud with ear-piercing shouts and screams! Management did nothing to calm them down, which was disappointing and we felt fortunate to have essentially finished our dinner when this group appeared. However, we will dine again at Tomo as this is the first time we have encountered such noise in the many times we have enjoyed meals at this place.
Good food and great service!
The waiter was overwhelmed forgot orders over charging. Never gave us salad never gave us refills never ask was everything ok. He was horrible. The person who cooked the food was AMAZING!!! Gratuity needs to giving according to service. He was a 0
Made reservations and then we were seated at a table not at a hibatchi. Our food came out cold. Very little vegetables with our hibachi meal. Rice was gross and yum yum sauce was terrible. Would not recommend to anyone.
Lot of fun. Hibachi was great. Food was excellent and the service was great. Would definitely recommend, and will definitely be back.
Great tasting sushi. Hibachi was nice too. Highly recommend eating there.
The waitress was awesome. The chef at the Hibachi was very nice and did a good job. However, we’ve paid much less at similar places for same meal/ experience.
