Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Mauna Lani, Big Island
This is one of our favorite restaurants on the big Island of Hawaii. The food is consistently very good. The service and the staff are wonderful. And the restaurant ambience is delightful.
Try the fillet mignon flatbread appetizer and any of the specials for the month.
I've had great lunches here but dinner is expensive without really tasting that good. This time it was the ono/shrimp dish. Very confusing mix of components in that offering.
Great hamburger— nice place— great service
Tommy Bahama at Mauna Lani never fails to satisfy. While the food was rated very good on this visit, it has been outstanding in the past. The variation is minimal.
Great food and service and delightful staff. Our quiet table request resulted in an under the stars outside table that was delightful .
It was an amazing meal! We were all so happy with our selections. We would definitely go back!
Consistently good food and outstanding staff
As always excellent service and food! even when they are super busy!
We had wonderful experience at this Tommy Bahama restaurant. The ambiance and food were excellent and our server Sasha took great care of us. 👍 We'll definitely go back!
Food was not quite hot enough and waited too long for cocktails to arrive. Otherwise, all good.
The noise level is nearly at a level that is intolerable and certainly eliminates any possibility of conversation. And, just in case it isn’t bad enough with people shouting to be heard, the management chooses to have some fellow making amplified noise. It looked as though he was playing the guitar and singing but only served to add to the existing din. I would not only not recommend Tommy Bahamas, I would actively discourage anyone from going there. Never, never again!
Pretty restaurant with great food and wait staff. Really enjoyed our meal there. Will definitely go back!
Always excellent food and service. Very friendly and knowledgeable waiters. Great music and not loud. Excellent and reasonable wine selection.
Thank you so much to the staff at Tommy Bahama Mauna Lani, from the bottom of my heart, for the wonderful experience as i caught up with my best friend during my stay on the Big Island! Mahalo! Mahalo! Mahalo! Until we meet again, aloha and a hui hou!
While on vacation in Hawaii, someone we met suggested Tommy Bahama. We try to avoid chains but it was nearby so we tried it and it was really good. The food was super tasty and our waiter was great—very informative about the island. We definitely recommend it.
Food & service were great.
Only issue we had was the noise.
Terrific time and place but please shut down the idiots who feel they need to FaceTime during dinner without earphones!
Our two guests, twins celebrating their 60th Bday were blown away by the food and service. They’ll always come back to TB.
Always have two or three dinners during our week on the big island. During our last visit a couple of nights ago, a table of 8 next to us was extremely loud, vulgar and rude. Our waitress apologized but the management was unable or unwilling to protect the other patrons experience. Big thumbs down.
The entire experience was seamless and we had great service from beginning to end. The food again was fabulous. In fact, as someone who really enjoys eating vegetables (non vegetarian though), I have to say that the roasted vegetables main is about as perfect as a dish can get in terms of tasting great and feeling great afterwards. So many other restaurants offer vegetables as a side thought, or the same salad or sides everywhere you go. Tommy Bahamas has vegetables served with great flavor and vibrancy, with unique seasonings. Thank you, we look forward to dining here every year when we return to the big islans
Beautiful Restaurant with top-notch service and ambience. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the frozen Mai Tai was the best we tried while in Waikoloa area.
This is my favorite restaurant on the island. I spend my birthday here each year and suggest it to everyone. Service and food are AWESOME.
This is one of our favorite restaurants, and we were ESPECIALLY impressed with our waitress, who was absolutely FABULOUS!!! The place was HOPPING, and she was a sea of calm efficiency in a room full of chaos!! Food is always good, and our service was AMAZING!!! Thought we might have to wait, but no... LOVED IT!!
Always terrific food and service. Love the Happy Hour margueritas!
Restaurant was very loud. Entrees were heavily laden with gelatinous sauce. The $43 special fish was covered in black pepper to the point of being inedible. Waitress offered to switch out the entree but we declined the offer. Even though we did not eat any of the fish or the rice, we were charged the full $43 price for the entree without no reduction to any items on the bill. This was rather shocking but because we were on vacation did not want to go through the hassle of talking to a manager, etc. regarding something that should have been done voluntarily. Most food items and many wines by the glass were way overpriced compared to their value and quality.
Great service, food and location however a bit noisy due to the sliding windows being closed due to the howling windstorm. Not TBs fault.
Best restaurant meal in a long time. Amazing service. Don’t skip when I the area
We have eaten at Tommy Bahama's several times, but this time we found it crowded and rushed. As a rule to thumb for a high end restaurant, I expect the pacing to be excellent; however, when the appetizers have not yet been cleared from the table when the meals arrive is usually and indicator that attention to details is weak. The food was good...well prepared...and as expected.
15 minute wait with reservation. Very loud.
Tommy Bahama's Restaurant & Bar on The Big Island was really good.
We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation time. Then the service was glacial, as was the temperature of the fish when it finally arrived. We sent it back to be heated up, and in return received 2 free desserts. Very noisy restaurant. Overall food is designed to sound fancy, like "Kona coffee crust" on the ribeye, but then these frills turn out to have no effect on the flavor. There's not a lot of good restaurants in Waikoloa resort area but I suggest giving this one a miss.
Our go to place when visiting the Big Island. Great coconut shrimp and crab bisque.
Holiday celebration with family. Our server Susan was awesome. She was friendly, offered menu suggestions and had a great upbeat attitude. It was a wonderful evening filled with great food and drink. The coconut shrimp and the ribs are just 2 of the highlights from our meal. We will definitely dine here again.
Great service and food.
Always outstanding!! We have dined here 11,234,879 times :) Never a bad meal.
Jason is an outstanding manager. Well run restaurant and tasty food!!
Expensive but it was perfect for New Years. Great food and service.
Our New Year’s Eve experience was great! Our server, Joann, was delightful and attentive throughout our meal. We had a great location at the corner of the upstairs deck, facing the sunset. Our drinks and food were delicious. We ordered poke tacos and crab cake appetizers, which were very tasty. For entrées, my spouse had the ribs and I the mahi-mahi with asparagus and jasmine rice, We finished with cheesecake and key lime pie(just a little too sweet for me) with decaf coffee. The family next to us was very pleasant and had an adorable young daughter who was so sweet. No appreciable noise level on the deck, so it was a very rare and enjoyable restaurant experience!
Our go to place. Consistently good food!
New Year’s Eve was very nice. Perfect Hawaiian ambiance!
