The food here is always delicious, well-portioned, prepared beautifully. The wait staff is attentive and very detailed. Wilson was a great server and took his job seriously. Every bite of my pork loin and mac and cheese was incredible and the chocolate torte that ended the evening had enough sweetness to it that is wasn't overpowering. Always love coming here for special occasions!
Always amazing food. Always great options. Oysters!
Went there for a birthday party. They were great.
The manager meet me at the door and I was impressed that he had read my note. Everything was great until we were seated for dinner. There appeared to only be 2 waitstaff working the floor. One was a gentleman who was quite attentive to his tables. We had a waitress who disappeared multiple times for more than 30 minutes. Our dinner took 2 hours and 30 minutes. Our food was delivered hot but we waited over 30 minutes for bread and our salads which was not acceptable. The service clearly needs to improve or I won't be back again. Luckily, we had plenty to talk about so we passed the time but it could have been a disaster.
Usually the food is excellent. However, on this occasion, my salad was overdressed to point of being inedible and my salmon was overly salted.
World class - every meal has been a high value experience
While the server was nice and helpful, the overall service wasn't really up to fine dining quality. The server had to come back and ask what we had ordered more than once, especially in regards to drinks; an appetizer that was ordered as an entree came out early; silverware was not reset between apps and entrees, etc. My wife and I have both worked in fine dining and dined in some of the better restaurants in the country. The food was good, and like I said, the server was accommodating and everyone was nice, but there was an obvious lack of professionalism for a place that has Wine Spectator and James Beard plaques hanging on their walls.
Was pleasantly surprised. I had heard from others that the food was not the main reason to go there and instead, was more of a place to go for drinks. I have to disagree. Our food was on point and was excellent. I enjoyed the duck and my wife had the meatloaf. Being from the Midwest, we have had our fair share of meatloaf growing up.....sorry grandma but Todd Jurich’s has overtaken your top spot in this category. The best meatloaf we have ever had!
Pricey, well sized portions, but great food and service.
Everything was amazing from the service, food and cocktails. Was a great place to spend my Valentines Day. Will definitely be back
Excellent quality food and fine dining at outs best. You will not be disappointed.
I was very disappointed in the Valentine's Day dinner selection very overpriced for the food that we received
Bartender and waitress were awesome . Good selection of wines. Food was perfect.
Fabulous. We were in town for a wedding and are foodies from Boston. It was the perfect place and our waiter was a professional having been there for more than a couple of decades. We met the chef and you could tell he was still engaged in make no the night special for all the customers. My fish was perfectly cooked. Oysters were great.
My wife and I went there for our 10th anniversary. It was a pleasurable dining experience with great service and good food. We will be back soon!
My wife's favorite special occasion restaurant. Food is always impeccably prepared. Service always superior. Great big city restaurant feel. A class culinary act in Hampton Roads.
Food was very good, not your run of the mill wine list, and the service was excellent. Everyone at the restaurant was very friendly. Would definitely recommend it, and will eat there again.
Always a happy occasion to dine at Bistro. Exceptional food and nice surroundings.
The Bistro had a terrible night. Many tables around us were complaining. It took over an hour to get anything on the table except water. Once we ordered our wine, it was bad. It took another 2 choices of wine and another 30 minutes before we received our wine. We were told once the diners who were going to the show left the service would improve. That didn't happen. Tepid bean soup. Salad and appetizers sat in front of us simultaneously. Cold mashed potatoes. We were there over 3 hours and didn't have dessert, coffee or anything after our meal.
I was embarrassed to have taken our friends to what used to be one of our favorite restaurants.
Always good
Not so great. Went there for spouses milestone birthday. Ordered a few appetizers and they brought them all at one time (four) instead of staggering them. Found that to be a bit unrefined. Ordered the meal with the scallops and shrimp, potatoes were tepid and so were the vegetables. Took 3 times to get them heated where they were somewhat warm. Everything was especially salty, why?? Spouses pork loin was a bit on the dry side. We were quite disappointed especially since this was a special occasion. We've been there a couple other times for special occasions and it was actually great, but this time it was not. Would no longer recommend Todd Jurich's place at this time.
Very pleasant dinner with nice menu and wine choices. Very comfortable table.
Went here for restaurant week and to celebrate a birthday (which was never recognized after stating during the reservation). $35 a person included appetizers, main course and dessert. The appetizers were OK with my wife getting spring rolls and I got the crab soup. Spring rolls had no sauce and crab soup came out luke warm with little crab. Chateaubriand with Bordelaise sauce was main entree. My wife's cut came out rare when she ordered medium and mine also came out rare as I ordered medium rare which is OK for me. The sauce was minuscule with little taste. Disappointing. The desert was good as she had a mousse and I had a bread pudding however my portion was very small, the size of a large tablespoon. Overall not worth the money.
A steal for restaurant week and the food was phenomenal, along w/ the signature high quality service.
It took 3 tries to come up with a wine selection that was actually on hand!
As in a previous review this place is simply outstanding. The food, the ambiance, the quality, the class. If you want to make a good impression on a first or subsequent dates, this is one of the top, if not the TOP place to go in Norfolk. I have recommended it before and will recommend it again. Their drinks are good, their food is good and it is a nice cozy place to go with someone. Now, the bar can be noisy and boisterous but it looks fun although I've never been in it.
Oh my goodness! What a find! We came from Florida for my son's graduation and found this amazing restaurant! The steak was perfect, the oysters sweet and tender, and the pomegranate margarita is a MUST HAVE (twice).
Our waitress was professional and friendly. She was knowledgeable about the menu and made suggestions when asked.
We will be coming back; yes, all the way from Florida. Now, I just need an excuse.
My worst and only bad experience with Todd Jurich Bistro. Ordered the chefs recommendation which the entree was a Lamb Osso Buco. The sea bass entree was tried to be delivered twice before our waitress came to ask “you didn’t order the sea bass?” Frustrating and disappointing for a restaurant with such a high reputation (and price) in the area. Service after the appetizer was slow. Between that and a valet service that was disengaged we were rushed to get to a follow on engagement. Will I return? Yes but if things remain the same I won’t after that. They’ve become too complacent with their status.
Todd's Bistro was worth the drive for us from NC. Varied menu with local ingredients, food was well prepared and served hot. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Will go again.
We chose to celebrate our friends promotion at Todd Jurich’s Bistro and we were not disappointed! The ambiance was perfect, the service was prompt and helpful, and the food was delicious!! I had an amazing night and I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great thanksgiving dinner. Truly enjoyable
We decided it would be a #NoCookThxgiving2017 for us. We were very excited to go to Todd Jurich's Bistro in downtown Norfolk for our Thanksgiving family meal. Very convenient location within walking distance from Waterside and Town Point Park. The service was great. They were attentive and polite. The appetizers were good. No problems there. However, our Thanksgiving entrees came out and everything was lukewarm - almost room temperature. I didn't want to ruin our family dinner by complaining to management. But, I expected A LOT more from a $38-$43/per person holiday meal. DISAPPOINTED to say the least. The price included 3 courses per person: appetizer, entree and dessert. We were very full after our entree, so we asked for our dessert to be boxed up so we could take it home. To our surprise, Todd Jurich's charged us $8/per dessert to take home a dessert that was already included in our 3 course meal. It would have been nice if the waitress would have notified us of the additional charges when we asked to have our desserts boxed up to-do. Too many issues for a $200 meal for 3 people. We won't be going back.
Took my granddaughter here for her birthday and sat outside with front row seats for the Grand Illumination Parade. Rob and Sara were fantastic and took great care of our large table. Food was fantastic, especially the truffle ravioli
I came here for a get together for friends for the day before my wedding. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. The staff was great and the food came out pretty quickly. We weren't super dressed up but we didn't feel judged or out of place at all.
Great food, but serving sizes were small for the price.
We live in Norfolk and had two couples from New York visiting and decided to bring them to Todd Jurich's as we had great experiences entertaining other guests there for dinner. As always, the service was wonderful and the food and drinks and wine excellent. We had raw oysters as a starter which were phenomenal as well. I was glad that everything was as good as it was last time we were there which was two years ago.
Top notch fine dining restaurant, but not over the top fancy or expensive. Just a classy place. Excellent dinner menu. Outstanding wine list. Great dessert menu. Excellent service. Surpassed all expectations.
Everything was delicious except for my chicken, the dish seemed a little dry and was just ok. The fig-beet salad, oysters, and truffle ravioli was amazing! Service was prompt.
Excellent service and ambience. Strongly recommend for business or personal dinner.
we had such a lovely evening. thank you for everything!
