Tidepools - Grand Hyatt Kauai
A beautiful restaurant that is perfect for a special occasion. The service and food are above average.
Subpar standards for a Hyatt resort restaurant. Worst meal on Kauai so far.
Our waiter Les was terrific! Can’t say enough about the total experience - thank you!
The ambiance simply can’t be beat at Tidepools. It was gorgeous all around and the service was lovely; our food came out quickly and was delicious! The menu has a variety of options for every palette and food allergen need. Thank you, Tidepools! PS don’t miss out on the Tai Chi cocktail, it packs a delicious punch!
Wonderful experience. It started with our awesome server, Les. He immediately made us feel at home. He took the time to explain the highlights of each dish with great detail, which we appreciated. We started with the Ahi/Hamachi Poke and the Seared Foie Gras. Both were amazing. We also tried the Thai coconut soup, another hit. For our entrees, we had the Crispy Fried Snapper and the Opah with Crab. Both were hits. We understand that they have a fairly new chef Kevin Horan. He was kind enough to take time out to meet us. He was so kind and humble. His choices are thoughtful, respectful, and show great and delicious attention to detail, making everything from scratch. We loved the whole experience!
Went here for my birthday and everything was excellent. Romantic setting with excellent food and drinks. High quality food and service. Would highly recommend.
Our server Wilma was very knowledgeable and kind. Food and ambiance was exquisite. My wife and I highly recommend Tidepools!
Our visit to tidepools was horrible. awful serious, incredibly overpriced for bad food. will not recommend to other friends honeymooning on Kauai
Food and location was spectacular. Wait staff was good. Placement of guests kept noise down and enjoyable. Audio system kept cutting out which needs attention.
great location excellent service but the food was terrible!
As always, Tidepools doesn't disappoint. The service was first rate and the food was not only impressive but was also absolutely delicious! Started with the crab cake appetizer. Great way to start the meal! My husband had the Hawaiian catch which is served with a huge prawn, huge scallop and a lobster tail! Presentation was gorgeous! I had the Makaweli Ribeye that was so tender and flavorful that you almost didn't need a knife! Had a fabulous time.
We had a reservation for 8:30 pm, but it took 20 minutes and a complaint to the hostesses to actually be seated. (This is on the later end of dinner service on Kauai, and they were not busy.) But, they comp-ed us a couple drinks, our waiter was great, and the food was fantastic. Sure, it's expensive, but it's at a Hyatt on Kauai, and I thought it was worth the money.
My wife and I were soooo looking forward to this meal. In fact, we were unable to make our reservations the previous year and were determined to make it this trip. We're would most likely will not come back. Was it our inattentive server? Or our server who did not make any effort to perform above mediocre? Or could it have been our waiter's inability to truly care about what was happening at our table? Although all of the above were true, I observed it wasn't just our table. Despite the $50+ entrees, the much-too-casual waitstaff were speaking and giggling amongst themselves as if we were eating...well...definitely elsewhere.
We had a wonderful time at Tidepools, the ambience was incredible. koi pond was all around us. beautiful tidepools all around the restaurant sets off the evening. The waiter Derek , was very helpful and attentive. The crab cakes melted in our mouths and the filet was perfect and the prime rib excellent. A delicious chocolate molten cake for desert and we were set for the evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Kauai.
We ended up at Tidepools last minute when another reservation fell through. We were amazed at how great it was! Dining amongst koi ponds with the cool ocean breeze was amazing and both the service and food was excellent! We love fish and enjoyed how they had more than one option (many places just have one “fresh catch” option). Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when we visit Kauai again.
Tidepools has one of the most perfect settings for dinner on Kauai. While not oceanfront, it is set atop a beautiful koi pond that invites guests to feel as though they are in the middle of a lake. The food was fantastic and there is not a bad seat in the house.
Went for our anniversary. Service by Wilma was wonderful and the ambiance was great - loved all the Koi! Sadly, I have to say our fish was a bit dry. You would think at this high end of a restaurant they would make sure that this didn’t happen.
It was beautiful!
Coming to Tidepools for the past 10 years when we are in Kauai. Have some classic dishes, but also a mixture of new, innovative dishes as well. Daily fresh fish selections cannot be beat. They have their own version of "SPAM" musubi, but instead...PORK BELLY Musubi is not to miss for an appetizer. Cannot go wrong with any of the fish dishes, but great dish is CATCH of the Day dish. You get a little of everything that makes this dish so special! It's also romantic...who gets to dine out by the ocean, hearing the waves crash in the background, and listening to Hawaiian music....
Service was great, great location
Great food and great service. I would highly recommend it.
Great food in a beautiful setting.
Great location on the water. Love the koi ponds. Food was delicious and large portions. The service was outstanding and very attentive. We always come back every time we are in Kauai
Wonderful restaurant with fantastic views and excellent food especially the fresh fish. Waiter, Les, friendly and knowledgeable with a local flair. My only complaint is that was not great value. Expensive compared with other restaurants in the area.
Beautiful covered cabana style outdoor/indoor setting that is extravagant and wonderful. Fresh seafood and excellent steak options. A must dining experience if staying at the Grand Hyatt
We went there twice during our stay at the Hyatt. Both time were amazing!
Always a wonderful dinner here. It’s expensive, but worth it. The ambience and view can’t be beat. Servers are super old school and most have been there since it’s opening. They remember us each time we visit!
Excellent service & food. A thoroughly enjoyable evening
Tidepools delivers a very nice upper class meal on a consistent basis. We have dined in this restaurant for 20 years. Quality of the food and preparation is consistently at an A- level. The service is also good. Views are wonderful and if you aren't staying at the Hyatt it is a nice outing to wander through the hotel before or after dinner.
This was by far one of the best restaurants I have every been to! Service was awesome, food was ridiculously delicious! It was the best way to wrap up our week in Kaua’i!!
We had a wonderful time at Tidepools. Our server was spot on in his recommendations, the food was delicious and each plate was well balanced, and the fact that we sat on the edge, overlooking a beautiful koi pond and sunset, only made our date more special. I would go back here again in a heartbeat!
We came to Hawaii for our 30th anniversary, the table we got was nice but nothing special done! We passed by tables that at least had Hawaiian leas on the tables our table had nothing! The only recognition we got was the host and the waitress said happy anniversary! Most places you would at least get a free dessert we had to pay for ours! They kept asking us if we were guests at the Grand Hyatt Resort I guess if we were we might have gotten special treatment for our 30th anniversary! We have gotten better at way less expensive restaurants & better food too!
Loved the feel of the place. Excellent and friendly service. Excellent fish and traditional mai tais.
Sitting next to beautiful Koi pods and dining on fine cuisine can best be described as magical. My wife and I chose this restaurant as one of our only places to celebrate our honeymoon and very happy with our experience. The food was delicious and well balanced. Although it was a smaller plate it did fill us up. We are both vegetarians and order the Forbidden Rice and a salad with in house grown lettuce. We had a couple drinks which also hit the spot. Ended the evening with the molten lava cake which could have been better and both my wife and I agreed that it was the eat part of our dinner.
Tidepools offers quality fine dining in an elegant atmosphere with exceptional views. Menu is on the pricey side (around $45-$50 per plate), but you get every penny’s worth. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection with just the right blend of flavors and textures. I can’t stop thinking about the macadamia nut crème brûlée! The views are second to none. You eat while surrounded by koi ponds, lagoons, and lush greenery everywhere you turn. There are several waterfalls around the restaurant, so while you eat you have the sound of falling water to drown out the sound of other diners talking. You do occasionally see resort guests walking along the paths from the pools in their swimsuits, but even this is minimal and does not take away from your time experience. Also, I’m not sure there’s a “bad” table, but make a reservation to ensure you’re seated along the edge of the lagoons. Our server, Derek, was wonderful in walking us through the menu, describing the specifics of different offerings and was very attentive to meeting our every need. I cannot recommend Tidepools enough for a wonderful special occasion or date night while you’re on Kuai!
My husband and I celebrated a very special occasion at Tidepools, and they took exceptional care of us. The ambiance, food and staff are all top notch. Many thanks for a wonderful, delicious meal that will be on the highlight reel of our lives!
Hotel restaurant with decent food but relatively expensive. Good for outdoor dining with a view of the beach and hotel pools. Service was a bit slow for late at night. Not recommended if it is a hot night due to lack of fans and no AC.
Exceeded our expectations and a wonderful way to end a tremendous honeymoon. Definitely one of the highlights.
Excellent! One of the best places on Kauai!
