Set in what was a private beach house in the 60s, Tidal’s mid-century modern design draws from the era it was built by Hollywood producer Jack Skirball. A fire pit-dotted deck, communal tables, and cozy lounge beckon casual group gatherings and lively conversation — though the 180° views of Mission Bay might just leave you at a loss for words.
The view, the food and the service were great. I was hosting a bunch of colleagues from out of town and we wanted dinner some near their hotel. I live in San Diego and can say I will be back. The dishes were unique and delicious, albeit a bit on the high end.
The view made me look like a rockstar hostess, on the patio with blankets and a gorgeous sunset!
Gorgeous location, great menu with good gluten-free options.
Loved it! It was great!
Best Caesar Salad I have ever had. Excellent service. Lovely setting and interior. A bit pricey but terrific for an occasion.
Absolutely fabulous food. Small portions but big flavor.
Great service, food was just ok. Was expecting a little more from the 2 entrees we chose. They were not the best in terms of flavor, just ok
GET THE BREAD
GET THE EMPANADAS
I had the cut of the day which was flat iron steak and lobster
It is expensive. Two dinners and two appetizers with no alcohol was about $125 without tip.
The portion sizes were very small. Spent over $50 and left hungry.
Waitress was terrible with drinks arriving 2 minutes before entrees (ordered 20 minutes prior). Then the food was disappointing at best: Hawaiian rolls were nothing special with hard butter, fried chicken was undercooked, french fries were cold and caesar with salmon they had 3 to 4 open tables inside and all open outside. However, I do recall when we sat down promptly at our time I overhead host state they needed that specific table an hour after our invitation. When I asked if we would be rushed, he stated he had re-ordered the tables. Would never recommend - lots of better places nearby.
Nice atmosphere, good for a romantic dinner. The staff are very friendly
Chef Andrew is amazingly talented and supported by a team that goes out of their way to meet your needs. Creative food, beautiful atmosphere and attentive service. I thoroughly enjoyed my food journey!
The main dining room at the paradise resort. Good service and food. Somewhat expensive but good quality.
The view of the water is incredible and the food was amazing.
We had a great date night here this weekend. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our server Julia was great, she had a good amount of knowledge on the menu and was helpful. The Manager Evan brought us our food and checked in on us.
Great Experience! Keep up the great work!
Fantastic service, clean and beautiful place to celebrate anything. The food was absolutely delicious and gluten free
The restaurant is in a good location on the Bay and the servers are fabulous. I made reservations through Open Table and although the restaurant was not full and there were other large seating areas (we were a party of five), we were seated right at the front doors where the wind would hit our guests each time the door was opened. The bar was out of two of the beers on tap (and they advertise the restaurant for its craft beers) and the server had to hunt down cucumber for my martini as the bar had run out. I am more accustomed to being asked if I still want a drink if an ingredient is missing, rather than serving it to me and then saying they will try and find some in the kitchen if I really want it (of course I do, I requested the martini with cucumber in lieu of a twist or olives). The food and the overall service from the servers was fabulous and our out of town guests enjoyed their time.
Meals were different. Definitely not a place for picky eaters. And make sure you check your bill because at least 10 extra meals were added to our bill. The computer was blamed but it doesn’t seem logical that the server didn’t review it!
The food was good and acceptable, but it certainly was not great. Both of us commented that the food was over salted but otherwise a bit bland. The "house-made" rolls that cost about $5 extra were almost certainly straight out of a package. At least they looked and tasted like grocery store rolls. The service was acceptable, but like the food, it was not great or in any way exceptional. I will not go out of my way to return to Tidal as there are far too many restaurants in the area that are much better.
Halibut was over cook and their steak was cold in the center had to send it back 3x. Food was nothing special plus it’s overpriced, you’re basically paying solely for the view. Not planning to dine in anytime soon.
Tomahawk steak was amazing!
Out waitress (I believe Michelle) was amazing and went above an beyond to ensure we had the best experience.
The food was delicious; I can’t stop thinking about the coconut shrimp soup.
It was a fantastic way to end a wonderful family vacation in California.
We were at Tidal for New Year's Eve and had their special buffet It was fabulous!!! Prime rib--raw bar--appetizers and on and on! Service was great and so was the live band Nothing crazy just adult behavior on a special night with my sweet hubby!
Awesome experience, very good food, nice ambience, nice views from the bay. We chose them to celebrate our anniversary and did not regret! We mention that and got a free personalized desert, even without making a big fat order - I am pregnant, my appetite is messed up and I can't drink wine l, so ordered just one appetizer and an entree. I would definitely recommend!
We celebrated our 25th anniversary with a dinner at Tidal. They gave us a wonderful table with a beautiful view of the bay and had heaters running as well.
My wife ordered a Cesar Salad and I ordered Island Style Coconut soup as starters and they were both so refreshing and tasty. Our main course was scallops for me and a wavy burger on a bed of lettuce for my wife. As with the starters, they were perfectly cooked and seasoned perfectly.
Finally, we ordered chocolate coconut cake for dessert. Not only was the cake moist and flavorful, but the even wrote “Happy 25th Anniversary” on the plate in berry purée.
The team at Tidal took care of us from the time we walked in until we left. I can’t thank them enough for topping off a wonderful day.
I had a dinner with my colleagues here for the first time. The restaurant was very beautiful and sever was very kind to explain th wine and food. We had a wonderful time for 2 hours with the delicious food. The stake and sea food were great. Our office is a little far way from the restaurant, but I'll try again with colleagues to visit next time. Thank you for the delicious food and service.
El entorno es muy agradable y único. Cenamos en el salón interior, atendidos por tres camareros. La comida estupenda. Queríamos probar el Tomahauk y no nos decepcionó. Para repetir!!!!
Nice ambiance, good customer service, great place for gathering
This was by far the worst Thanksgiving dinner I have ever had. We've had dinner at Tidal twice before, and loved it. Everything except the service and ambience were sub-par, and the whole event was way overpriced for what was on offer The buffet was not only minimal and meager, it had odd offerings: bagels and lox.. really? There was no cranberry sauce, no sweet potatoes or yams, no pies whatsoever. Thanksgiving without pumpkin or pecan pie? Who planned this Thanksgiving? It was bizarre, and not even the vegetables were well cooked. A total disappointment in every way.
UPDATE: I sent a note to Tidal about our awful experience.... and i NEVER heard back from them. Talk about your bad customer service!
We spent Thanksgiving at Tidal and it was a perfect way to spend the day with family and friends. There was a turkey carving buffet and the sunset was amazing!
Amazing food and the service is great. My fave was the salmon for dinner and the cesar salad with anchovies and picked lotus room is beyond amazing (probably the best cesar salad that both of us ever had). We actually had it twice that day (brunch and dinner). Both my husband and I had the salmon and it was yummy. We were visiting SD for a few days and were staying at Paradise Point and it was like 20 feet from our room. We had brunch and dinner there. Highly highly recommend it. Next time we are in SD we will definitely be going there again.
Great location, outstanding food and service, when in San Diego Diego will return.
Amazing food and excellent service at Tidal. Landon was our server and he went above and beyond to ensure that every part of our meal was perfect. Their entire staff was helpful and welcoming and really helped to make our experience memorable.
Very nice overall
It took a while for our server to find us after we were seated, but she made up for it. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. The octopus appetizer was delicious, tender and flavorful. We ordered the scallops and a mahi-mahi special. The scallops could have been hotter, but the flavor was so good I got over it. The mahi was a bit rare for my taste, but it was very fresh and the foraged mushroom side was fantastic. This is definitely a go-to for special occasions and out-of-town guests.
Ordered two tomahawk steaks and only one was available. Waited over 35 minutes for dinner to be served and both tomahawk steak and pork port House were under cooked
Our waiter was amazing and the food was very good. Our view was so beautiful and they kept us warm by seating us near the heaters.
The beef cheek was amazing! Great service with a view.
Great location and waterfront views. I think they want to testify the high price by the presentation. Everything came out looking terrific. But unfortunately that's where it ends. The food was mediocre at best. We started with a coconut starter that had no flavor other than coconut. We let the salmon that was overcooked and salty. Everything was smothered in a flavorless cream sauce. In addition to the pear salad with giant candied Ginger. Again, it was good for presentation but lousy for eating. We ended up cutting the ginger in about 30 pieces and mixing them into the salad. The salad dressing was tart and really didn't go well with the type of salad. Left feeling like we got set up thinking Gourmet dining when the food was less than mediocre.
