The Yellow House Bar and Kitchen in south London’s Surrey Quays near the shopping centre is a big, warm hug of a local bar and restaurant. The owner is on site and usually in the kitchen preparing one of three menus on offer: the restaurant menu, the grill menu and the pizza menu. The Yellow House had an earlier incarnation in Plough Way, but has moved to more intimate premises with a slick, post-Industrial vibe when it comes to décor, but still the same perfectionist’s attention to detail, relaxed ambience, warm welcome and passion about the food on the plate. Locals love this place. The Yellow House European cuisine offers dependable classics like grilled Scottish beef burger on ciabatta with hand-cut chips, thin-crust pizzas from the wood-fired pizza oven, and seared snapper with basil mash, minestrone and rouille. There’s a log-burning stove in the bar for wintry days and a great selection of wines and draught premium lagers.

We were really impressed with this restaurant. All the dishes we ordered (Thai fishcakes, lentils burger, fish and chips and the homemade ice cream) were delicious and tasted very fresh - actually the kitchen is open so you can see some of it being prepared just before it goes on the plate. Service was friendly and helpful and we thought the price was very reasonable for what we had

The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is very good, and the ambiance is pleasant- it’s quiet enough to carry on a conversation without difficulty. We have been going therefor years, and have always enjoyed the experience

The Yellow House menu has a range of choices to suit all tastes. You can order a Pizza. You can order a Steak. You can order a Burger. My wife and I almost always order one of their specially prepared main courses. Their chef is very competent and we always enjoy our meal. The owner(s) of the restaurant always present, and the service is quick, efficient and friendly. Homemade bread and excellent desserts.

Four of us ordered the Sunday roast, two Lambs, one beef and the lentil cake. All four meals were beautifully presented and very tasty. We were meeting up with an old friend we hadn’t seen for ages and we had such a good time, we all enjoyed our food and “forced” ourselves to have desert and coffee to finish off the lunch. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back on 15th! Definitely recommend this place.
