My husband and I went there for a post-Valentine's Day dinner and we had a great time. The food was good with lots of interesting choices and the service was impeccable!

This was my second visit to this restaurant. The ambiance is nice and the service is good. My feelings about the food were similar to the first time. Minimal options available and very run of the mill - burger, fried chicken, hanger steak/frites - especially for the price. I realize this is tavern food, but I don't feel the entrees are worth the price or very unique. I had the fried chicken as it was recommended and it was steaming hot and moist, but not to my taste. So overall, just an average experience for a high price. Additionally, the bathroom was not in good shape. Extra hand towels were just available siting open in their ripped open plastic bag - not very classy.

We had been wanting to go to the Woodsman for a while, but just didn't take the time to do it. Not sure why, and now I regret the oversight. Well, now that we've been there, we'll be back again very soon. To start, our server was so pleasant, patient and polite. We were newcomers, so we wanted to check out the entire menu. We selected two entrees and accompanying beverages. The crab/avocado dish was a delightful starter, but the pork loin main entree was out of this world. It's not a standard menu item, but I sure hope it stays that way. Big enough for 2, and soooo decadent with crispy pork skin and fall off the bone meat it was phenomenal. Portion sizes were big, so no room for dessert. Maybe next time. We will absolutely be back!

We brought a friend here from out of town, knowing she loved whiskey and it would be a fun, Portland-y atmosphere. The whiskey selection is great and overall ambiance was fun, but we were disappointed with our entrees and the server's difficult time handling my friend's dairy intolerance. All he could recommend was the seafood dish or the cheeseburger without the cheese, which arrived partially covered in cheese due to the fact that it was cooked next to another order. The burger itself she said was dry and flavorless, with a ridiculous amount of uninspired fries on the plate - all for $16. I was extremely disappointed by my own order, the pork shank, a big, sticky bunch of one-note-flavored meat that sat on a bed of "fried rice" that was not fried rice by any stretch of the imagination. The only thing saving the day was the fried chicken, but I wish I didn't spend $6 for a side of mashed potatoes, which tasted like it was from KFC. I wish the Woodsman lived up to its hype and our expectations!

Woodsman is consistent! It's always great. The menu is excellent. There is something for everyone. THe Bartender, Rob, makes the best drinks and conversation. Was a nice cap to the day to hang at the bar before being seated at our table. The fried chicken is the best in Portland. It is our go to place!
