The Winery Restaurant and Wine Bar - Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
Our boat is a few feet away but we had never dined at The Winery. We were concerned about the noise level, but Restaurant Week helped us decide. It was great. The food was wonderful, and our server Sky, a great young guy who did everything he could to make our dinner great.
I would like to give Rave Reviews to Carol our server. She was great, attentive, knew our names, and even brought birthday desserts for our table to share. It was a double celebration!
We were there 3 hours, enjoyed everything so much. Food was terrific, ambience was terrific....Will definitely come back soon!
The Winery is terrific. We met Chris in valet parking and later again when he was tending bar. He was great and helped us get a brilliant table by the window overlooking the boat slips. Even though the restaurant was super busy due to a large private party, he and the rest of the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. We split The Winery House Salad to start and it was extraordinary both in taste and presentation. My husband had the Slow Braised Angus Beef Shortrib which he loved. I had a Filet Mignon that was cooked perfectly with Bearnaise on the side. Exceptional! For a side, we had Truffle Pomme Frittes with two dipping sauces. They were so exquisitely and delicately flavored with truffle oil that I never used the dipping sauces. The wine list is a lovely complement to the menu. We topped everything off with sorbet. Beautiful evening and we would highly recommend this restaurant.
My family and I had a great Christmas dinner here. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays, service was good, food was fantastic. We had the spiny lobster (sweet and succulent) with mushroom risotto (yummy) and the filet (like butter). Outstanding evening.
Unfortunately our YG flatbread was burnt on the bottom but cold like it had been sitting too long. Then it was a very long wait for our main course almost 25 minutes & all plates were extremely hot (and we were warned) but to me that meant they had been sitting under a heating lamp for a while. Ran out of water waiting for our food to arrive. Nobody stopped by until they brought the food & noticed I had nothing to drink. My main course was the pasta & it was delicious. We have had previous good experiences so I think it was an off night. Still disappointed.
I was so pleased and impressed. This is the second time visiting the winery restaurant. The first time was a disaster and I wrote a very poor review on the winery restaurant when they first opened. The only reason I have returned is because friends of mine have been there recently and are now raving about it. We went last night for dinner and can't say enough about how excellent everything was from the appetizers entrees wine choices and very good service. Something definitely has changed their. I can hardly wait to go back and order the clams and mussels for my appetizer again. I can't stop thinking about them they were so amazing. Everybody at our table ordered something different and everything was absolutely fabulous. Best Ambience ever!! Congratulations on fixing everything that was wrong because everything was right.😁
Even the entry makes a statement. The wine lockers, unique bar, beautiful view, just wonderful. Our server was attentive and had good recommendations. I had a lobster tail on a fluffy risotto bed with prosciutto wrapped asparagus, my husband had a bone in filet. Delicious. Obviously a great wine selection. And to top it off perfectly, we got a vanilla bean ice cream with fresh berries on top and in the most decadent almond brittle cup. Spoil yourself, go enjoy dinner and don't skip dessert.
Got off to a rough start as our table wasn’t ready at the time of our reservation. However once seated (following about 20 mins in the bar which was just a bit too close to the live music for comfort) the service was superb, wine list outstanding and the food (we had venison and short ribs) was truly wonderful!
Haven't been to this location since it was the Villa Nova so I had some nostalgia for the location. I thought the service was superb! The food was good but I was hoping for better selections and it seemed typical.
I can't really think of anything negative about the restaurant, but I just wasn't feeling it!
The food and service were very good but I've had outstanding food at this restaurant at other visits. The main problem we had was that the general noise level was pretty loud and there were times when a large party next to us and a small table of four behind us were so loud we couldn't hear each other across our small table without shouting. The large party kept the noise level uncomfortably high most of the time as well as deafening many times.
