We are The Wilmington - known locally as 'The Wilmo'

We’ve have had a bit of a face lift recently, not everything is new - if you’ve visited us in the past, you may remember us for having the best Sunday Roast in town. We can happily confirm that it’s back…but arguably, even better!

Head chef Jamie Cousins has taken the reigns, delivering an ever-evolving menu of globally-influenced dishes that celebrate the best of British ingredients as well as some very exciting specials. You can join us for brunch, lunch or dinner as well as that glorious Sunday Roast - come try it for yourself!

    We enjoyed our pre-theatre, early dinner at the Wilmington on 10th June. Their menu is very interesting and we each could happily have chosen several dishes. Our food was very good, nicely cooked, well presented, and decent portion sizes. We also enjoyed both of the vegetable side-orders which were interesting and made a nice foil to the rich main-course I had chosen. The dessert of Manchester Tart with Coconut sorbet was delicious. The waiting staff were attentive, knowledgeable and helpful, and I actually complimented the chef and told him how much we'd enjoyed our meal. It was very warm in the dining area, and I understand there is no A/C, however, our waiter opened a door which made all the difference within minutes.

    Waitress very friendly. Our table was ready on arrival - booth near the server which is ideal. We had chapel down fizz, scallops, chicken pie and hake and big fat chips! All delicious

    The staff were friendly and helpful and we appreciated the choice of beer/ales. The food in our opinion was poor and expensive for the quality. The beef burger was overcooked, greasy bacon and the bun was soggy. It felt like it had been sat around for a while. The starter was average, mine seemed to be out of the fridge and the chips weren’t great either. We have eaten better quality food at at a more reasonable price.
