The Whistling Swan Inn & Restaurant
Couldn’t have been more impressed by everything! The atmosphere was so cozy and pleasant. The food was PHENOMENAL. And the service was great—they worked with me to make my husbands birthday experience extra special.
Amazing food and service. We ordered an assortment of appetizers entrees and dessert! Unique and amazing food pairings! The waitress was very kind, and the ambience makes you feel you’re nestled in a modern cottage in the woods.
Everything was delicious! We can’t wait to visit again! Loved the food, wine, and service.
The food is always excellent and service is top notch. I appreciate always having delicious vegetarian options to choose from.
Made reservation while attending Progressive Dinner in Fish Creek. Reserved table by fireplace for the ambiance and celebrating double anniversary with son and daughter in law. When we arrived we were greeted by hostess and she immediately commented on whether we were reservation that requested table by fireplace and i acknowledged. The fireplace was not lit and the temperature outside was near freezing, when I asked about lighting it she said it was warm enough in restaurant. She never acknowledged the double anniversary all night, which she would have seen because it was with the fireplace seating request. She sat us and never took drink order, but stated she would be right back, after 15 minutes I went to server bar area and asked if she could take drink order and she replied she was just getting our waters. She took our drink order and did not come back with that for another ten minutes. We had to inform her that we were ready to have her take our food after another wait. When my daughter in law ordered her filet well done she rolled her eyes and my son informed her that my daughter in law is pregnant and needs everything cooked thoroughly. All the meals were good, but menu is limited. Service was disappointing. When we ordered desserts for the table it took over 15 minutes to bring them out and no acknowledgement of double anniversary celebration.
We have made it a tradition to visit the Whistling Swan annually for past 16 years when attending progressive dinner, but will think twice about coming back again. The restaurant was not overly busy either, two other tables.
Service was fantastic!
Great place for a dining in experience. Food is outstanding. Server was very thorough and helpful.
We were celebrating our friend’s birthday.
It was a perfect evening. The food was incredible. The service excellent. Love Whistling Swan so much!
Great experience. Our server, Claire, was very attentive and went out her way to answer our question about a bottle of wine she wasn’t familiar with. The food was awesome. One of my favorite restaurants in Door County.
Lovely restaurant and amazing food and service! One of our favorite in Door County.
It was just ok. Nice place, small but nice menu. Our food was just ok. Service was a little brusque.
Delicious! Thank you. We had the Bolognese and the halibut.
Service and food was superb. Request a table in the porch, which was airy and quiet.
Want an elegant yet reasonable dining experience after shopping in Fish Creek, why not check out the Whistling Swan and Restaurant. We'll return.
We had a wonderful experience. Quiet and romantic location, delicious food, and great service. Will definitely be back.
Romantic and excellent service
Hi there, Food was excellent, really delicious. The waitress should tell people the bowl of soup is very large, about double the size of a regular bowl.
We were on the porch at the end & it was very cold & the heating element down by the floor didn't work. It was 45*F outside & we were surrounded by windows without curtains.
Also, the ceiling fans with lights were the only light. We didn't want the fan blowing germs our way & the light was on top of our heads giving scary shadows.
There needs to be table candles & dimmable wall sconces to create some atmosphere & enough light to read the menus..
In the summer, the porch is delightful, ,open, airy & with great views of the street, shops & trees outdoors.
Poor service
Everything was great...food, service, ambiance.
Menu is unique... not your standard restaurant fare. Outstanding prep and presentation of food. I've been probably a dozen times. Has always been very good. I have high standards when it comes to fine dining and these folks never have disappointed me.
the food was exceptional, every dish was well prepared and beautifully presented. The only disappointment we thought we would have was they ran out of the Halibut special. We ordered other dishes and while we were waiting our waitress brought a small plate of the halibut with trimmings because we had been disappointed. The halibut was perfectly done and great. We over ordered and had to take part of the dinner home with us. The roasted Brussels sprouts, tenderloin, potatoes and fish and chips were every bit as good reheated. Will be our first choice in Door County.
We have always enjoyed the Whistling Swan restaurant! The food and service are great. We also know that during Covid 19 times restaurants have to adapt to the new normal. We were pleased to see social distancing and masks were in place on the long porch where we sat. The bar was another story, and a bit disconcerting since customers need to pass through that space to get to the restrooms. Also, a small suggestion: adding a candle to each table on the porch would improve the ambiance which has become a bit bleak due to spacing restrictions. That being said, we enjoyed our rare evening out (these days) and appreciate the adaptations made in order to respect distancing and safety.
While the food was very good, the young ladies working were less than attentive. We had to request refills on our drinks and never did receive the water we requested. The restaurant was not busy but it took 45 minutes to get our breakfast. Unacceptable in our book.
For the ambience of the restaurant, the young ladies' belly shirts and skin tight leggings were not appropriate.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Whistling Swan. The food and service were very good. Right now, the menu is fairly small.
There is an enclosed veranda and a separate room for eating. We sat in the separate room which has about five tables and were very comfortable. Nicely decorated and wonderful ambiance.
Great food and fresh. We weren’t rushed through our dinner and enjoyed every aspect of dining there.
We've visited this restaurant numerous times over the years and found the food just OK this time around. The coconut soup was lovely. We loved the butterscotch ice cream and cookies. The the scallops were undercooked on the inside and tasted like frying oil on the outside. The sauce on the mushrooms and potatoes was overwhelming. The creme brullee seemed like a mistake, substituting goat's milk for cream. The steak was tasty; the texture not the best, but my husband is a steak snob (also expecting a rib-eye which we saw on the online menu). I liked very much the quinoa with corn and had a helping for lunch the next day.
Excellent food and service roasted carrots really unique
Amazing food, not crowded, amazing beer & wine. Perfect dinner!
Whistling Swan always provides a delightful atmosphere with high quality locally sourced food. The service is impeccable.
Expected a fine dining experience. Staff was very casual, I found this strange. Had an 8:00 reservation and when seated we were asked to order because the kitchen would be closing.
I ordered the salmon which was tasty but cold. When I asked it to be warmed they were happy to do so but stated it was a dish designed to be served cold. The menu description did not lead me to that understanding since the menu stated grilled salmon.
Over all it was a lack luster dining experience and with our bill for 4 coming in at $180 I would have expected more.
Love. Would eat there every night. This trip eating there 2 out of 3 dinners.
Great! Wonderful dinner.
Great food with a fun twist! The wait staff is exceptional, would dine her often.
Our server Claire made the experience 10 times more enjoyable. The food was phenomenal per usual!!!
Love the Whistling Swan. We’ve been coming here for years because of the fire rate food and ambience. This was the first time bringing our kids. The hostess and servers did a great job accommodating everyone’s needs.
The kids had a wonderful meal and tried some new foods which we could never get them to eat at home. Everyone had amazing food and we will cherish the experience.
Whistling Swan always delivers a delicious meal and outstanding service. In this time of the pandemic they managed to make dining feel relaxed and respected social distancing boundaries, certainly not easy I’m sure. It was appreciated and I felt that safety was important for them. Looking forward to my next visit.
Would have preferred a window table
It was over an hour between the time we ordered the food and when it finally came. Several other t@bles that arrived after us recurved their fun before us. No explanation was offered only did we want more drinks. We did not order difficult food.
We love Whistling Swan. It is a hidden gem in DC, with a great history, as well as staff and food!
They do not have a full bar; which was surprising to us since they categorize themselves as a “supper club”.
Everyone was friendly and the food was good; but was not many options. They were out of two entrees by 7:30pm.
We were there for an anniversary dinner and it was acknowledged but expected the offer of a free dessert or glass of champagne.
