The Waterfront Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely delicious! We are only able to visit the island every couple of years or so and The Waterfront Cafe is always top of our list of places we MUST eat. They consistently give us the best meal during our visits. This time we had shrimp and grits and the risotto Julianne - both had fantastic flavor.
My only complaint is that this restaurant advertises that it does no take reservations for outside seating. This is fine for me because I do not want to dine outside. However, every time they try to seat me outside. I do not know who control this, but I am just about ready to stop dining there.
One of our party had a steak that was full of gristle and hardly able to cut or eat. Where we were sitting started out being very chilly but our server turned up the heater; until the people next to us said they had been out in the sun and were hot so the heater was turned down. There was no offer to put down the vinyl curtain. We have been to Waterfront a number of times and must say this was disappointing.
We have been to the Waterfront many times, but on Valentine's Day it was even better than usual. My wife's filet was tender and cooked perfectly, and the special I had "Shrimp Over Hanger" was the best meal I have ever had at Waterfront. Perfectly prepared, and paired well with the Pinot Noir special wine of the day. Amazing!
Made reservation 10 - 14 days ahead for 5. After waiting 25 minutes beyond our reservation time, we were seated outside instead of inside where our reservation was made for. Our choice to sit outside as they wouldn't give us any idea about how much longer we would have to wait. They apparently didn't have any flexibility to handle 5 people. 2's and 4's were being seated that arrived after us.
My husband and I enjoyed our wedding night dinner at The Waterfront Restaurant in 2016. We've celebrated our anniversaries there each year since. We will continue to do so as long as the food continues to be delicious, the service outstanding and the ambiance cozy.
We had been on a private fishing charter and heard of restaurants in Anna Maria that do “catch and cook”. Waterfront prepared our fresh Sea Trout beautifully, added sides family style and all was delicious. Chef came to our table to thank us for allowing him to prepare our catch! Wait service excellent. We loved the back patio. So quiet we could hear our conversation.
Delicious, tastebud tingling food is found at The Waterfront. Great combinations of fresh ingredients were mixed together with amazing results. We tried to eat light tonight ordering salads topped with seafood. My brussel and kale salad was amazing although overdressed. Great flavors included tender kale, shredded brussel sprouts, toasted almonds, shaved parmesan and green apple in a yummy shallot mustard vinaigrette. Topped with perfectly grilled shrimp, it made a lovely main dish and was an ample portion. Hubby had the grilled romaine salad topped with the best grouper we have had on the island. The salad had a perfect blend of tasty treats including green apple, crisp bacon and gorgonzola cheese with a beautifully balanced vinaigrette. We added mushroom risotto, so much for eating light, which we really didnt need but was wonderfully flavorful although heavy. Finished the meal with a glass of red and we were delicioulsy satisfied.
As residents of AMI, we enjoy the Waterfront quite frequently. It never disappoints. It is one of the very few restaurants on the island that take reservations. During season, crowds are everywhere and wait time is often very long so a reservation is much appreciated.
we enjoyed a family dinner here on our first night on AMI and we really enjoyed our experience .
I had the filet, my father on law loved his risotto with short ribs and my husband had one of the seafood specials which he said was delicious. We sat on the patio which was covered at the time because it was cool out but they have heaters so it was plenty warm enough!
My husband loved his food. I did not. I expected more selections of fresh fish. They did not have my liquor that I liked. My salad was not served first but came with the entrée and so I ate the hot entrée first and then the cold salad. We have eaten here before and was very enjoyable.
This was an anniversary dinner 51 years but I don't ever have to eat here again. The only thing is the location and view and because of the cool weather the plastic was hanging down.
You must try the lobster bisque. Everything my husband and I had was outstanding. It's a little off the beaten path at the far end of Anna Maria Island but definitely worth the drive. Nice casual setting on an enclosed porch with heaters for the winter. We will repeat this dining experience within a week.
We have eaten here twice in 3 weeks and both times we had great service and good food. Seven adults and we all had something different and we were all happy with our meals. Four kids nine and under and we had no problem ordering them something they liked. I liked the pork tenderloin so much I had it both times. In the past we have eaten outside which is always fun. Prices in line with other nice restaurants.
