The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

CHRISTMAS in JULY!!! Great tasting 'Smash burger" and don't forget the love of my life the "French Fries". The ambience warm and inviting, little Ms. Christmas Fairy gave me a magic stone too and blue. Jesus and the Key Lime pie AWESOME! Hats off to the wonderful hospitality of LaTonya and Mark (both went over and beyond for me). Made this a wonderful experience. I feel special.

Had a business lunch this last week. Restaurant not busy at all. Food was satisfactory. Chicken on my salad was rather dry. Service was spotty.

Overall, it was a great experience. It was my first time in this Chicago institution. It did not disappoint! My only feedback was that the chicken pot pie was more like chicken soup with a pastry topper. It was very runny. Jose was our server, and he was fantastic! I can't wait to experience the space during its iconic Christmas season.

Wonderful experience with my family. The food was great. Sven our wailed awesome and very attentive to our needs. Disappointed with the ambiance. It was not that decorated for the Christmas venue. And only 1 fairy however she was very sweet.

Feels like I was on the Titanic in one of the grand dining rooms. So beautiful. With fun views of the city. Food was delicious! Service was excellent.

I love eating at The Walnut Room any time of year, but especially enjoy their Christmas in July event, as well as eating by the Christmas Tree every year. We had great service and delicious food today. Looking forward to the next time we can return to this classic restaurant!
