   Always nice to eat here, especially at Christmas when the tree is up. Food was good. I like the Peach Nest or the beef, My husband had the cod special and clam chowder which was excellent. Waiter was nice but sometime the kitchen was alittle slow.

   Sunday Brunch. Service was impeccable. Food was outstanding. Of course, the atmosphere was Fantastic. We were seated at a small sunny table by a window. Our server was pleasant and engaging. The only drawback was a group of small children screaming and running around. This, of course is not the fault of the Walnut Room; and I would never blame them for someone else’s poor parenting skills. Thankfully the table was paying up as we were seated so we did not have to endure the unruly imps for long. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday Brunch.

   It was just lovely dining in the Walnut Room again. None of the four of us had been there in quite awhile. Although the food was delicious, we’d have liked a bit more diversity on the brunch menu. Our waiter, Swen, was very informative and charming, explaining a bit about the history of the building and Marshall Field’s/Macy’s. We look forward to going again.

    Not a large menu but it has a nice variety and the food was good. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was refreshing to be there without the Christmas crowds.

    Had a wonderful lunch and the ambience of the Walnut Room is so awesome. Look out the window and you can see a great mural of Muddy Waters. Their Rose is excellent. Service was awesome. Pot pie and fried chicken sandwich...mouth watering.

    The food was terrible, but the server was great. We got Caesar salads that tasted like they were dressed with mayonnaise, and a “club” sandwich which was a half a head of lettuce on a piece of bread with one piece of turkey on top and covered in thousand island dressing. We couldn’t even eat either dish. So bad.

    Went to Walnut Room for the very first time on Valentines Day. We got there right before the rush (6:30) and it pretty much went downhill from there. We chose the fixed menu special. We each hand an option between 2 starter salads, 2 entrees and 2 deserts. We received our complimentary sparking toast right away. Put in our salad & 1 cocktail order shortly thereafter and waited….waited like 15 minutes for the salad to come out. Cocktail was nowhere to be seen. Finished our salads pretty quickly and waited….and waited….and waited. Waitress took our entree order. About 5 minutes later while making her rounds “oh! someone over here had a drink, right?” Drink came a few minutes after that and was delicious. Dinner (1 med/rare filet & 1 halibut) took a while to make it to our table. But at this point the restaurant was much more busy so no big deal. Food was amazing and portions were much larger than I thought they would be. Then came time for dessert. Put in the order the next time the waitress came around so we thought we would be ahead of the game. WRONG!!! Literally sat there for a good 15-20 minutes with empty table, no water and no hope for a second drink. Finally after another table spoke up about their service, the manager came over and apologized and offered to bring us complimentary drinks. Dessert arrived and was amazing and that second drink saved the night. Until we get to the parking garage and it took so long that we now owed $53 for parking!!!! I will give credit to the manager who seemed to be putting out fires right and left with unhappy diners, but definitely was not the inaugural Walnut Room experience I was looking forward to.

    The Walnut Room was a romantic and nostalgic setting for me and my partner on Valentine's Day. Our server was kind and attentive, saying really nice things throughout our meal like "Enjoy each other" each time she served a course. She also offered me (the woman at the table) a piece of hazelnut chocolate she brought in herself at the end of the meal. This is an example of customer service going the extra mile. I urge the management team at the Walnut Room to hang on to this delightful employee. The menu was delicious but limited with only two entree options via a pre fixe menu. The service was just a tad slower than I would have liked. Overall, a good dining experience.

    The food was tasty, the room was inviting. The chicken pot pie was good, but very little chicken and plenty of gravy with the peas and carrots. I enjoyed the club sandwich which was filling and well worth the money. I had wanted to buy a wine glass and they sent me to the liquor dept in the LL but there was none to be found and the liquor dept sent me to the 7th floor.

    My wfe and I had a wonderful time at this Chicago classic restuarant. The staff was very friendly. We ordered from the special Valentine's Day menu and the views were good. The desert was absolutely OUTSTANDING.

    The service was very rushed. My reservation was for 10 people @ 6:30pm and you could tell the server didn’t want to serve us, he wanted to go home. I asked if he could give us a minute to order, because it feels like you’re rushing us. He said with an attitude, “we’ll yeah, if u want to eat, I suggest you order because the kitchen is ready to close up”. So we quickly placed our order. We the food came, it was salty. I had beef short ribs, mashed potatoes, with carrots. The potatoes were so salt it couldn’t eat it. The salads were missing the chicken, toss in the wrong dressing. The rice was also salty. The drinks were good. Oh and let’s talk about being charged $53 for an 1.5 hours. Per car. Never again!

    Wonderful experience, but the parking in the "discounted" lot for Macy's customers was exorbitant. I was there for less than 3 hours and the cost with the discount was $53.00!!!

    My first time going to the Walnut Room in many years. We were greeted by a very nice hostess and were seated near the large windows overlooking State St. I asked the hostess if she could lower the volume of the music. Even our waiter said that they get complaints about the volume. She said that she would look into it. About 15 minutes later the hostess was seating another couple and asked her if they would lower the volume again. she the volume has to be lower on the third floor, not on the same floor we were on. I contacted Macy’s for a follow-up. We both ordered their famous Chicken Pot Pie. They were delicious with a perfectly cooked top crust and a good mix of vegetables, and chunks of chicken, no wonder it’s their most famous dish. I can’t say as much for the Caesar Salad it was anemic with hardly any dressing on it. I didn’t even finish half of it. On the other hand, there was a nice “citrusy” tossed salad that came with the Chicken Pot Pie, it was ten times better than the Caesar Salad. We asked for the dessert menu but decided on a slice of Carrot Cake to go. My friend said it was the “best ever”. We decided not to have coffee and dessert there for obvious reasons.

    We had a wonderful time at the Walnut Room, our table was by the windows, with a beautiful view of the city. Food was excellent and service was impeccable. Restaurant was quiet enough to have a conversation with my dinner companion without raising my voice. 100% would go there again.

    The famous pot pie was terrible. Mostly gravy and a stamped out top crust. Furnishings stark white tablecloths and dark wood chairs nothing soft like fabrics or flowers. Very disappointing.

    Terrific quick stop for yummy light lunch before a movie at Block 37. The walnut petit salad was really perfectly sized to compliment a cup of chicken noodle soup. Service was above and beyond in under two minutes a host got a fresh tablecloth and set me up on a great table near window. Great unexpected service by the already busy hostess. My server was also polite, polished, cheerful and quick. Splendid experience all around. Thank you !
