Chic. Modern. Sophisticated. But also casual and friendly. The Venue is the cool hot spot on El Paseo, popular with locals, out-of-town visitors and food critics who serve up rave reviews. The Venue is artful, from its sleek décor to the original, ever-evolving menu, enthusiastically created by owner/chef Engin Onural. "This is my art," he shares. "Each plate is a painting, but I use fish instead of paint."

    We very much enjoyed our dinner at The Venue. We sat on the patio which had lots of shade. We had the Spicy Tuna Tostada appetizer which was delicious, the perfect combo of spicy/sweet. We over ordered, getting three rolls, The Venue, Lollipop and Scandinavian but they were so good we finished it all. Besides having a beautiful presentation the food was amazing as was the service.

    The staff was fantastic and very attentive. The food was true to the menu and also very good. They had suggestions and made some solid decisions on our behalf. The drinks were all very good and the wine list is extensive. We ordered the Merlot and was not disappointed.

    Sushi was way over priced and there wasn’t anything special about the rolls. You’d think that for $25-30 per roll they would be really good. Nothing to write home about. Server was not attentive, didn’t check in on us, and I had to get up to place an order because she was no where to be found. Vibe and ambiance is great - but won’t be returning

    the service was friendly, efficient. the hostess was very welcoming, checked on us multiple times during dinner. the food was exceptional. the key is knowing what to order, varied menu, different from other sushi restaurants.
