The Valley Kitchen
Took our friend for his birthday and the waiter was unqualified for this type of restaurant.
Made mistakes on the order, didn’t came back after the first course to change our silverware. Had to chance to asked him when our food was now cold. Had to ask for the desert list and only brought 2 ( we were 4 peoples).
Bad experience all together and we are local😔
Great food- super busy so service started a little slow, but the waiter had a good personality which made up for it.
Service = EXCELLENT
Food = EXCELLENT
Ambience = EXCELLENT
I really thought I was dining at a Michelin Star restaurant!
Great dinner, professional staff and very good food.
We had a nice Valentines Dinner. Shared the Caesar salad, beef Wellington and panda cotta. All good and great service.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Hubbiehad Oysters Rockefeller and Beef Wellington...and he loved both! They were specials for Valentine’s Day and were extremely tasty. I had a filet and salad which both were yummy, as always!
The food from beginning to end was incredible and the service was superb.
My Lady and I had a date to visit the Valley Kitchen at Carmel Valley Ranch. We had the best time there with an amazing dinner and evening. Upon arrival we were greeted by the Valet and two of them opened up our door to our car and welcomed us in. The ambiance was immediate noticeable with waiter flowing in the fountains and as we entered the main door leading into the lobby there was a huge fireplace burning inside. We were once again greeted by two hosts who opened up the massive doors. Were amazed at the beauty of this place. It felt like a large lodge in Grand Tetons!
We were then greeted by the Hostess and taken to our private dining room away from the bar. We were given a very private table for two with a view of the outside oaks thru the huge plate glass windows.
We were immediately offered drink menus and fresh iced water. We ordered cocktails and they came back fast. The servers came out with warm fresh sourdough bread with herbed butter, and fresh in house pickled vegetables that were very tasty. The main server Ishmael came out and greeted us with good cheers for us being there to dine on our date night for my Wife’s Birthday. He told us all about the specials and there were many choices. We looked over the menus while we sipped our drinks. We discovered that they have a special steak called the Tomahawk Ribeye Steak that was a 28 ounce steak with a long bone trimmed. He told us about how it was to be served table side with a large cat iron pan filled with potatoes, veggies, mushrooms, baby onions, whole garlic and 5 sides of dipping sauces. We were sold on that option and ordered the meal for two. We also split a ceaser salad that was delicious. When our main course arrived we were blown away how big and beautiful the serving was. The manager of the kitchen came out and personally cut our tomahawk steak table side on a large wood cutting board on a rolling cart. He then served my Wife here then mine. It was an incredible experience:
We stayed at the Ranch and had dinner here on two occasions. Both times the food was excellent! The service was great and we requested our server Jose again. Their goat cheese is sourced and made on site and so is the honey. We had a chance to visit the goats and bees which made for an even more memorable meal. I’d highly recommend the restaurant for dinner as every bite we had was excellent!
Atmosphere is lovely, food wonderful. Service was awful. Complained to manager after half hour or more before meal came and things improved slightly. Second time here and same experience. Expect more given pricing.
We have always enjoyed the Valley Kitchen, but this time the food was not good...
Crab cake sauce was clear and tasted and smelled old instead of creamy.
Always order the Tomahawk steak for two. Always great!
We have stayed at Carmel Valley Ranch twice before, but this was our first time dining at The Valley Kitchen. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant!
Last family date night of the year !
I went here for a Christmas dinner because my family was in town. I was expecting it to be pretty crazy because of the Holidays, but we had a really good experience. Our server Angel was very attentive despite the restaurant being busy. At one point, the toddler at the table next to ours accidentally knocked some glasses over and they broke. The staff was immediately there to clean up the mess and make sure everyone was okay. The manager, Carlos, came by and checked on the surrounding tables to make sure that nothing had spilled and offered to dry clean anything if need be. All in all I was extremely impressed with the service and would recommend the Valley Kitchen just for that.
The Mushroom Polenta was great! The lamb shank is fall off the bone. Filet mignon was cooked to perfection
The filet (beef) was great. We did medium rare.
Be aware of the $30 corkage fee. This is the highest I have ever seen. My bad for not asking first. The main course was good but small portions. The sides were large to compensate. There are better restaurant choices.
The meal was good. The service was very good. The value for the price was poor. Everything was well-cooked but we were not impressed with the seasoning on anything. We ordered the Hungarian Goulash, Lamb Shank, Chicken Wings, and Halibut Ceviche. The ceviche was great. Everything else was just ok - especially considering the price. The wings were advertised as sweet and spicy but they had no chili to them whatsoever. The lamb shank was well-cooked and not game-y, which was great, but it just didn't have much flavor to it. The meat in the goulash felt like it was a bit tough and the sauce while nice, just didn't have a depth or richness to it.
Service was not good and food was dry and overcooked. Also, don't like when seating is so close to the next table. It's uncomfortable and awkward.
Great service and the steak and scallop dishes were our favorites. Our dog loved his chicken and rice dish. We will return as we enjoyed the evening.
Our server, Manuel was outstanding!! Knowledgeable about the food and wine, attentive and helpful and patient without being intrusive, Manuel is just a lovely, charming young man. Thank you, Manuel for making our lunch so enjoyable.
We all were impressed with him, and liked that we could talk and hear each other, without the all too frequent experience these days of restaurant noise. Beautiful restaurant on a beautiful property.
This was a dual birthday celebration dinner for both me and my husband. We were initially seated in the "back" dining room along the windows. It was after dark so there was no view per se and therefore being next to a window didn't really matter to us. We asked to be moved because the lighting in this dining room was so horrible that we could not bear to sit through a meal in this room. The light level was way too high and the glarey recessed downlighting plus the color of the light (cold) made everyone in the room look dead! We asked the hostess if they could at least dim the light down but she said they could not - really?? lighting in a restaurant that is not dimmable! They were able to move us to a table near the fireplace in the dining area adjacent to the where the bar is located and though it was a much noisier space, it was much more pleasant to sit in.
Our meals were very good and the service was excellent - from the bartender, who served us our pre-dinner cocktails, to our waiter who was very friendly and professional. We will be back but will avoid those "back" dining rooms, except perhaps for lunch. Hint.....hire a professional lighting designer to fix the problems in those dining rooms.
Delicious and fun.
Valley Kitchen has always been our Go To place for Girls lunch. It's a happy atmosphere and the wait staff always attentive. Jose is the best! and when he's not there we had Bryan who did tip top service.
Everything is delicious because of Tim Wood and his team.
On a sunny day, you can sit outside.
Very convenient for guests at the Carmel Valley Ranch, so they can charge a higher price for an average experience.
We only had one night at CVR, but the restaurant did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was delicious, and the ambience was excellent for our date night. Will definitely come call here! Also want to comment that the sommelier was so informative and fun to talk to!
Had brunch on the beautiful patio overlooking the pool. Quiet and relaxing. Good variety on brunch menu with something for everyone. Very enjoyable.
Overall good experience!
We had a fabulous dining experience. We were greeted immediately, including a warm "happy birthday" for my husband.
The venue is gorgeous- we received a corner table-for-two overlooking the vineyard. Our service was impeccable! We were attended to by Dastyn. This young man was friendly, gracious, and knowledgeable about the evening's offerings. We had the butternut squash soup (like silk) and the lamb (succulent and full of flavor).
A special surprise was a lovely dessert with a birthday candle. This was AMAZING! It was a slim slice of carrot cake topped with cheesecake. The cheesecake had a channel filled with honey on top with whipped cream on the side. I feared it would be too sweet but it was perfectly balanced.
We have found our new 'go to' restaurant whenever we have a celebration or when family and friends come to visit.
Excellent service, delicious food and a wonderful view. They also had a very nice kid friendly menu, which my 8 yo enjoyed.
I enjoy bringing my pet to the restaurant . Food is delicious.
Celebrating our Anniversary.
Great place, service and food with a wonderful view
My family loves to go to Valley Kitchen and split the Tomahawk steak - it’s just outstanding and makes such an impressive presentation. The setting is lovely and the service always attentive. We feel very lucky to live just down the road from CV Ranch and able to enjoy the resort frequently.
Our waitress was very welcoming and helpful. She was very attentive to us and I would recommend this location for a calm but beautiful setting!
We arrived on time for our reservation.
They sat us on time. Our waiter was good.
My wife needs gluten free and the menu was clearly marked.
Our meals were great!!
Sea Bass and risotto with garden organically grown!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time and meals.
Atmosphere was good. No view but energy of staff and people was uplifting 🐬
Ordered the Tomahawk steak(very expensive), it took an hour to get on the table. It came with vegetables and sauces. The steak it’s self tasted good even though it was ordered medium but came out medium well. Everything on the platter was cold. So they brought the side dishes out warmed up one at a time. The meal was eaten in Increments. We spoke to the manager and he just said sorry. Poor service and poor management. I forgot to say the bitter hostess forgot to check us in on opentable. Classless
Inconsistent and inattentive service. Disappointing since we are local and have enjoyed our experiences here before. Almost seemed like our server left half way through our meal. My mushroom polenta was delivered with burned and black toast pieces. I asked it be replaced with unburned toast. I ordered a second glass of wine and was basically done with my meal when it was delivered. We waited and waited for someone to pick up our check when we were ready to pay. Just all around awful. The staff seemed overwhelmed and all around out of their league.
Food was disappointing and ambiance chaotic. We have been there before and had a better experience.
Beautiful setting with attentive staff and great food. The Lavender Bliss cocktail is amazing. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. But, skip the warm cookies, which are neither warm nor soft.
