Disappointing. We were taken to an outdoor 4 top by the hostess. I showed her a substantial puddle of water where our feet would be and requested another table. The hostess said nothing. The second table she offered had a soggy wet paper napkin (trash) and flatware on the floor below; again, the hostess said nothing. Then, I chose a different table. The wet napkin and flatware were never picked up and no one ever sat at the table with the puddle below. My seafood cobb salad lacked flavor, was pretty dry and had very little seafood; I asked for additional dressing which arrived as the three other people at the table were finishing their dinners...service was very slow. General consensus at the table was that the food was mediocre. The setting is lovely but we won't return any time soon.
We had a wonderful time. The food is always good and the service was great. We like going here as we always have a good experience.
The Valley Inn has become our favorite restaurant for both small and large gatherings.
Happening place great atmosphere good service.
I ordered the chowder. It was so thick you could almost stand a spoon in it. Would someone please tell the kitchen a container of chicken broth is a chef’s best friend. A thinning of the soup which thickens when it sits on the stove would have remedied this problem as the flavor was good. The Margherita flat bread was fine — very beautifully presented.
We were entertaining friends from out of town and knew they would love The Valley Inn for lunch. Our wonderful server, Patty, was very professional and friendly without being intrusive. We all chose different items from the extensive menu and were all very happy with our selections. I had the soft shell crab sandwich special which was large, well seasoned and came with house-made chips. The seafood cobb salad and regular cobb salads were fresh, crisp and perfectly dressed while the chicken salad wrap never fails to please. It was filling enough that one-half went home to enjoy for dinner. We were too full to enjoy dessert but they have a very tempting dessert menu which I'll definitely sample during my next visit. I highly recommend The Valley Inn whether for everyday dining or entertaining friends.
I eat here fairly regularly. Yesterday, during lunch, there was a table of ladies who came in. They were over-the-top loud. I expected that the staff should have asked them to be a bit quieter. However, they did not. The noise was such that I could not really hear the person sitting across from me. It was a big dissatisfier.
Great "neighborhood" bar and restaurant with a great menu and always something that I want to call my new favorite. Sometimes a little noisy, depending on the tables near by.
Food appearance , temperature and quantity not worth the money . Taste was good. Service slow
The PERFECT place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Amazing food and first class service.
Promptly seated. Nice table. Excellent service. Tasty lunch. $9.00 for dish of ice cream sure seemed excessive though.
Delicious drinks and food, our server seemed frazzled and it looked like she was managing many tables. She was extremely pleasant regardless of her situation- she could have used some backup!
Our visit to Valley Inn was wonderful! Our server, Sharon, was excellent - personable and stayed on top of refills. Our food was delicious - the ribeye was not prepared to order but was still delicious. The shrimp in the steamed shrimp were perfectly prepared. The shrimp and grits on the special shrimp menu was tasty - only had 2 small pieces of the andouille sausage though. Definitely recommend The Valley Inn.
Manager was very rude and we ended up leaving before we ordered. Will not go back. It is a shame as we live in the area and have been there many times for lunch and dinner. We waited 15 min for a server to even come to the table. This has happened several times before.
We were the only customers on the patio, so it felt like we were not in our servers regular table rotation, but it was okay. We had the shrimp salad sandwich and mac & cheese which were both fantastic.
Very good food, almost like a slightly more casual version of the Oregon grill, not surprising since it’s the same owner. Quality food all around for sure. Server was a little more casual and a little inattentive, but he was nice either way. A little pricey but you know that going in. I’ll be back.
Good food. Great service. Always a nice place to eat.
Monday night hamburger special is a great value - large, perfectly prepared burger, delicious sides. The seafood offerings, and dinner salads are also favorites of ours. We're delighted to have this seemingly always busy, successful restaurant so close to home.
Bday. Food was disappointing :( service was good!
Casua celebration of friend’s birthday.
We are never disappointed and we love our waiter Mark who we have had many times eating at The Valley Inn!
The Valley Inn delivered exactly the experience that we expected. Traditional, "horse country" ambiance with good food (not great, good), at a reasonable price. Service could have been more on point, but really there was nothing to complain about either. We'll be back.
Excellent experience. The only downgrade on food was shrimp bisque which was a little short on shrimp. Service was fine and the noise level allowed us to visit with our friends. Keep up the good work.
Hosting our grandson, who remembers the havarti cheeseburgers from last visit. Food was delicious. The desserts (cheesecake and beignets) were terrific.
As delicious as our food was, our server (Mark) made our visit perfect. I cannot recommend enough, but ask for Mark when you visit. He is very responsive and super friendly.
We have been to the Valley Inn before but often for lunch or dinner during off hours. This was our first time during dinner rush. Though we saw lots of service staff racing about (a bit disconcerting in itself), our waitress had to tell us twice that she would "be with [us] shortly."
After 20 minutes, she was finally able to take our drink orders. We knew then that we should all be prepared to put in our food orders when she returned. When she did, as expected, she placed the drinks and tried to beat a hasty retreat. We all called after her to wait -- that we wanted to place our appetizer and dinner orders.
Appetizers came soon enough. Our waitress graciously helped us to split our favorite Chopped Seafood Salad. Also, the Crab and Corn Fritters were a huge hit, dense and delicate, a Maryland classic not to be missed.
But, in the end, dinner was served at just about the hour mark of our seating. I just never can understand why, when they find themselves understaffed or, for whatever reason, overly busy, restaurants simply do not make it a point to inform diners upfront or upon seating. Never once did a hostess or member of the wider restaurant staff stop by to say something like, "Thanks for you patience. Could I get you a complimentary round of drinks?" In that way, we might have felt less like an imposition on a busy evening than valued guests.
Our table was ready when we arrived and the vibe was terrific!
Food is mediocre. 4 of us dined there and everyone was disappointed. My shrimp and grits was mushy, the sauce had little flavor and the sausage overwhelmed the shrimp. The sweet potato fries were not hot enough. The shrimp tacos were mostly lettuce. They can do better.
The Inn is always good - good food, good service and good value.
Excellent neighborhood spot
Had a delicious lunch , ordered the Po Boy, and the oysters were fried beautifully, light batter , perfect!!
Fun times at Valley Inn.
Consistent food, good service and when the weather is nice, there's a great outside area to enjoy yourself. When it's cozy inside, get a spot by the fire and enjoy the Ragu and when brighter months occur, grab some tasty beverages by the bar (inside or out).
Love the Valley Inn. There’s something there for everyone. Our server was delightful.
The food was pretty bad although the restaurant has a good atmosphere
Go when they are not busy, otherwise wait staff may rush you. This would be before 5 or aftwr 9:30 PM on a weekend.
It is expensive for a Harford County or north Baltimore County restaurant. Prices are more like,hugh-end downtown Bmore prices...nit necessarily justified IMHO.
Food was very good. Portions were small. Again, reflects on value for the quality received...
Food very good, great atmosphere, cocktails good but very pricey
Unfortunately our visit to the Valley Inn for my husband's birthday was most disappointing. We ordered several items from the "special" shrimp menu and not one of the selections was appetizing or properly prepared. The shrimp, corn and bacon bisque soup was gelatinous and tasted like wall paste. The server happily replaced it with crab soup. Our entrees - shrimp with grits and shrimp scampi pasta were equally awful. The shrimp and grits was thick, pasty and barely warm while the shrimp scampi was completely tasteless - no butter, no garlic, no flavor. The restaurant is not inexpensive and I expected a much better meal.
On a positive note, it has a nice atmosphere and the staff - from the host to the server - were delightful. We have no plans, however, to return unless and until management corrects the obvious and significant problems in the kitchen.
Derek was a great waiter
Mark was a wonderful waiter. Everything was delicious.
Great food. Good atmosphere.
