Wine, food, and service worthy of telling the server hold the desert...ENCORE. Although we were completely satisfied and would not have been able to pull it off that is what high quality the entire night was at The Tailor and The Cook.

I'm grain free so I couldn't eat the bread, but my daughter thought it was so good, tears literally started going down her cheeks. And after eating the cheesecake, she says she isn't going to eat cheesecake from any other restaurant for the next year because she's spoiled now. Enough said?

The staff are very attentive and accommodating.

Expensive, but high quality items cost money. The chefs are clearly top notch. The food is the best I've had in the area.

I would have preferred a quieter atmosphere, but that's me.

This place deserves its great reputation. Superb, attentive service and beautiful food. Impressive attention to detail. It's on a level with the finest restaurants we've enjoyed in places like Boston and Montreal.

However the restaurant is too loud and the tables are packed too close together. We'd hoped for a romantic ambiance and it's just too noisy in there, plus who wants to hear the conversations at neighboring tables?

The food was amazing as was the service and the ambiance the food choices and drink choices are outstanding. It is definitely 1 of the best restaurants I've eaten at and we have traveled all over the U.S.. It is very pricey but I do highly recommend it. My only disappointment was the deserts, they were terrible we had the cheesecake and the something..flan, unnotable, no flavor and very disappointing considering our appetizer and meal was phenomenal. Please fix the deserts.

The staff is very attentive. The menu is very unique and a breath of fresh air with so many chain restaurants dominating the landscape in today's "one size fits all" culture. Anytime I want to impress someone without going to NYC I will choose Taylor & The Cook
The best restaurant in the Utica area

It was more than just an upscale dinner, it was an experience. All local ingredients formulated into a tasty seasonal menu. The small intimate restaurant makes for easy conversation and exceptional service. Great spot for a special occasion dinner.

The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and were very attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. We ordered scallops and lamb meatballs for appetizers. The duck, fillet mignon, and fish were perfect. For dessert we ordered the lemon curd and flan, which was just right. If you are in the Utica area, Tailor and the Cook is a must!

What a find! We were driving from Watertown, NY to Albany, NY on a Monday evening and we were looking for a decent restaurant. Decent? This was spectacular!! I don't believe I have ever had filet mignon as tender as what they served - and the white truffle mashed potatoes where out of this world. Even the carrots (roasted?) were delicious. We started dinner with two cocktails, one made with Captain's Flask Whiskey and one made with Dry Gin, both from the Saint Lawrence Spirits on the River Distillery (at which we had had brunch the day before!). The cocktails were perfect. Then the chef sent out a "thank you for dining with us' hors d'oeuvre of a thinly sliced black radish with a tomato aioli and a roasted caper on it - sensational! The salad, which came with our meals, was a delightful light salad with raisins and - well - all sorts of fun stuff! My fiancé ordered the special - Blue Marlin from Hawaii - which neither of us had ever had before. It was light, flaky, cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. For dessert we ordered the Jones Family Farm Cheesecake. Best cheesecake ever! If you are ever near Utica you have to go here. Hell - even if you aren't - it is definitely worth the trip! Bon Appetit!

All I can say is I make the 2 1/2 hour drive to eat at this restaurant. I could drive to NYC in less time but I drive to Utica because within my 54 years of living, this is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. Everything is amazing, the drinks, the appetizers, the food, the specials, the deserts and the service is beyond any place I have ever been to. The waiters are trained better than I have ever seen in my life. They know the food, they know which farm the cheese came from, they know where the local honey came from and they rattle that information off quickly and precisely. I just wish they would open a place near me in the Hudson Valley.

Always a perfect meal. The cheese board never disappoints, and their special cocktails are creative and tasty. Two of us had the fillet, and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The staff is terrific; helpful without hovering.

Fantastic experience ! From the bartenders making signature cocktails to the city-like cozy atmosphere ... the best part , the food is all local farm to table! A couple little surprise bites sent from the kitchen , and everyone on the staff is VERY polite.
Your tummy will be very happy .

Amazing food! We opted for the chefs tasting menu tonight and it was absolutely perfect! Overall just delicious, each course had an Irish twist that was done to perfection. Our host was great upon entry and suggested tonight’s drink offerings. Our server Tim is a delight if you’re so lucky to have him. Just an amazing place in the Bagg’s Square district with incredible food, service and ambiance. I absolutely love this restaurant because all the details are managed for your dining enjoyment; this is our favorite place in the city, hands down.

Amazing as per usual. The lamb/rye meatballs were absolutely wonderful.
I was diassapointed to see the huge pork chops had vanished (that’s what I went for) but between the pork I did get, the grits and meatballs you’d be nuts 🥜 not to have gone home very happy. After a HORRIBLE 15 straight hours of work, I was saved. 😇

The farm-to-table menu choices provided something for everyone in our party of six, the food was without exception excellent, and service was informative and attentive, yet not overdone either. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, and the overall experience was a memorable evening for us all. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in all of central New York- so just go!
