Restaurant week terrific service great food
Very good food in an older grand hotel restaurant. Even though I had stayed in the hotel several times both in its glory days and in its near-bankruptcy tatters, I have never used the restaurant. I would rate it as one of the better in-hotel restaurants with a good menu and above-average food. The only irritant was the server's attempt to upsell us from the Charleston food week menu.
The food and service was excellent! The fried green tomatoes were delicious and the salmon entrée was delicious!
I typically don’t often go to restaurants inside hotels because they aren’t super exciting. This year the Swamp Fox was participating in restaurant week. We really enjoyed the experience. The menu was really fun….creative dishes that were well prepared. Would highly recommend both the she crab soup and the fried green tomatoes. The shrimp and grits were delicious. The grouper was very good although it was blackened and the last two bites were a bit salty. That literally was the only negative if you could call it that. Such a great experience. I’d definitely recommend
They had a great menu, and the food was very good. Our waitress was very attentive and did an excellent job.
Great food and service, will be returning in the future!
We went for restaurant week. She crab soup had a lot of shells in it which was offputting. The braised shot rib tasted fine, but wasn't very warm. Food was OK, but for the price there are much better experiences in the area. Our waiter was very pleasant but looked to have every table so drinks ran empty.
Great meal! Great service! We loved all of our meals. The salmon was quite delicious. Shrimp and grits had lots of shrimp. The short ribs were tender and tasty. I would definitely return.
Restaurant week made it even a better value! Food was excellent!
Had lunch here today and as usual we were both happy with our meals.
The cocktails were fun and the She Crab Soup was to die for! All the courses were delicious. Can’t wait to return!
Nice & friendly staff. Fish overcooked. She-crab soup very disappointing. Service, while pleasant, was not appropriately attentive. Wouldn’t rush back.
Very good food! Great convenient location! Great service!
The Swamp Fox has great ambience and is one of Charleston's best restaurants . The food is great and the service is courteous and friendly.
Good spot - get there early and expect relatively large portions
Did not live up to food writer reviews. One stated the restaurant was hard to find in the building - the dining room is at the front of the hotel, on the street, with its own entrance. Expected a bit more of a formal dining experience (dress) than received. Nice enough place for dining downtown.
Food was not very good. Bland chicken, charred steak, etc. Great service though. Seemed more like a Dennys than a nice restaurant for the price we expected more
Excellent food and service, restaurant itself is a bit dated
Hostess wave us to sit. Server, Brandon called everyone “Hey Guys” as he rushed table by table. We think he was the only server. Said “ran out of food” - plopped plate and said “So, steak, not prime rib.” Oh well. Rushed. Doors dirty, fingerprints. Croutons - Caesar salad was stoggy at best. Asparagus woody, inedible.
This was, by far, the best meal I had in Charleston. The meal was perfect. The service was stellar. The noise level was appropriate and allowed for quiet intimate conversation. This restaurant should be on every “best restaurant” list for Charleston. Will be back!
Phenomenal Christmas Day dinner! Probably the largest piece of Prime Rib we’ve ever had and cooked to perfection! Wonderful ambiance and amazing service. Our Christmas Dinner was not only what we had hoped for but exceeded our expectations in every way. BTW, Sylvie, our server was fantastic and super attentive. Best part of our vacation!
It was a very good experience. Will definitely be back.
Christmas lunch special was excellent
Salmon with sweet potato bacon hash was very good. Live piano music was lovely. Service was busy, but engaged. Had trouble finding the restroom (even after asking for directions). We found street parking less than a block away.
Our Bartender/waitress was adorable, very friendly and very attentive. The food was decent, but not great.
Wonderful dinner & service ….food was very good plus the wine!
Stopped at the bar before dinner and had the best Bloody Marry I have ever had. Lizzie is the bartender and I enjoyed her service and the atmosphere.
Dinner was perfect. She crab soup and crab cakes were the best ever.
Food was late, cold, over-cooked and tasteless.
Service was negligible at best.
Drinks were horribly mixed and hard to finish.
Food at Swamp Fox was delicious. Generous portions. Atmosphere was quiet so our table of 10 friends could have a conversation, during Sunday lunch .
Food was sub par. Mondane. Fried chicken was some sort of breast meat
Food arrived mostly cold
Not a very nice place.
Brightly lit not what we expected
Everything was delicious, we had a great experience.
Food was excellent! Live piano music at dinner. Staff were great!
We were sat near the front door so every time the door opened we got a rush of cold air. The waitress didn’t check in and drinks ran empty. Finally we received the chicken fried steak partially burnt. Not worth the cost and would suggest to walk further down King St. for other options.
The service was wonderful, seated promptly and our server was very attentive. We ordered the fried chicken and unable to put our forks down. 100% quality!
Our dinner was delicious! My daughter and I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, asparagus. My husband had the tenderloin and he raved about it, very tender and loved the potatoes as well. We had the deviled egg appetizer, it was only 2 eggs for $12! Very good sweet tea and bread! No room for dessert! Kudos to our waiter, Eric, he was very good for all the tables that he had to take care of that night!! We would definitely return to The Swamp Fox!
Had a great meal! Service was great, food was delicious
