Food was sub par. Mondane. Fried chicken was some sort of breast meat
Food arrived mostly cold
Not a very nice place.
Brightly lit not what we expected
Food was excellent! Live piano music at dinner. Staff were great!
We were sat near the front door so every time the door opened we got a rush of cold air. The waitress didn’t check in and drinks ran empty. Finally we received the chicken fried steak partially burnt. Not worth the cost and would suggest to walk further down King St. for other options.
The service was wonderful, seated promptly and our server was very attentive. We ordered the fried chicken and unable to put our forks down. 100% quality!
Our dinner was delicious! My daughter and I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, asparagus. My husband had the tenderloin and he raved about it, very tender and loved the potatoes as well. We had the deviled egg appetizer, it was only 2 eggs for $12! Very good sweet tea and bread! No room for dessert! Kudos to our waiter, Eric, he was very good for all the tables that he had to take care of that night!! We would definitely return to The Swamp Fox!
Had a great meal! Service was great, food was delicious
We thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner! The food was good and especially our waitress, Sylvia, who did an outstanding, over-the-top service to us! Thank you for a great holiday meal!!
During a busy Thanksgiving week we were able to eat in or pick up and take breakfast, lunch or dinner quickly. The portions were great and the food was good. The staff at Swamp Fox were spectacular.
Danner was a fine Serb
It was good food especially for a hotel restaurant. The portions were average, and the wait time was fine. Charleston is a tourist town so nobody was dressed up at all. The staff dress was also very casual. Our waiter was a CofC senior planning to work in the hospitality industry and he was very attentive and personable. They had a few gluten free options marked on the menu which was very helpful. No gluten free dessert options though - easily remedied by adding something like creme brûlée or a fruit sorbet - just a suggestion.
The meal was delicious. A little pricey. For a special occasion it was nice. I had dinner on my bday. When I made my reservations the asked if it was a special day. I said yes. I thought they would offer a little desert for my husband & me ( the birthday girl ) but nothing.
Good crab cake sandwich, and excellent she crab soup. The service was also excellent. I had a craving for a Bloody Mary, but was disappointed with what I got. I asked for one that was not too spicy, but got one that was very peppery that I couldn’t drink much. I was told it was a premixed recipe that couldn’t be changed. I won’t order that again.
Soup was not hot. Reservation was not in their system. Ambiance non-existent.
The service, food and overall atmosphere of the restaurant was outstanding. The pianist and majority of guests made for a relaxed romantic evening. Unfortunately half way through our meal a large count, loud, celebratory table was seated near us that made subsequent conversation difficult. Nonetheless, we would highly recommend, we especially enjoyed the southern classics such as the halibut special, the she-crab soup, pecan pie and southern-hospitality!
Service was not great. Took about 15 minutes to get a drink after sitting down. Felt rushed. We believe the waitress had too many tables. My wife had the filet ordered medium came rare. So rare couldn't even eat half. There are a lot better choices for dinner in town.
Excellent presentation and flavor. Service was prompt and professional. Decor was flawless. Perfect meal and ambiance.
Food was quick,and delicious.
Very well done.
As a local, I have known the The Swamp Fox Francis Marion restaurant all my life and it always meets or exceeds my expectations—excellent cuisine, courteous waitstaff and a place where one can actually converse with companions.
Fantastic fried green tomatoes. We also had the she crab soup, excellent and just the right combination for a not too heavy lunch. Our server Jasmine was great.
This was just above okay. Food was good ( stuck to basics, pasta dish and shrimp n grits) but service was sub-par and location in the breezy Marion Hotel street level was a bit more casual rather than formal. Overall not a bad place if you are in a pinch but certainly there are many other better options nearby.
Great, friendly service. Deviled eggs were flavorful and fresh and the fried chicken sandwich with basil mayonnaise was delicious.
Southern sampler & Salmon Entree & sour dough bread - all was very good.
Best she-crab soup in Charleston! Shrimp and Grits are also outstanding.
Great food and service, quiet. Would definitely go back.
The restaurant was able to honor our reservation earlier than scheduled. Service was prompt. We only had soup and salad, thus the food arrived without much wait . The server was very kind and friendly.
The shrimp and grits was some of the beat I've ever had.
Danner, our waitress, was great. I had the pan seared salmon. OMG literally the best salmon I've ever had. And the sweet potato hash?!?!? Put it over the top! I 100% recommend this restaurant and get the salmon--you will not be disappointed.
Waitress was super, reservation was not held , got there on time still had to wait….. food . No comment
My daughter and I were visiting Charleston for the first time. The restaurant had a pianist which was lovely. Our reservation was pretty early 5:30 so not many people there. The food was good. Nothing wrong to speak of just not amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. No complaints.
very mediocre and disappointing. It was the price but I could have had the same dinner done really well at THE FIVE LOAVES at almost half the price and it would have been even more special. Will never eat there until some changes are made
Perfect first night in Charleston eating here. We were not hotel guests but saw a review on trip advisor so tried it.
She crab soup was fantastic. I had a special crusted flounder with crab topping and oh my a rice with spinach and avocado .
My husband had the shrimp and grits and liked it .
Big portions .
Great service by Liz
Ambiance was old and worn. Food was mediocre at best.
Yummy food! Good service! Had room service too and it was a great experience!
The carrot cake did not taste very good. I don’t know what it was but it was more like a spice cake that was over spiced. My husband got the pecan pie and it was delicious. Please do a recheck on the carrot cake for the date we were there.
