Excellent and creative food. Excellent service. We ordered too much because we wanted to try so many dishes. My friends and I got together for our monthly dinner club so we have high standards and we were quite happy.
My colleague and I had a dinner lunch here.
I got a fish dish (sea bass I bekieve) & he got the bronzino.
We both thought the dishes were average, over priced, & uncreative.
It was dissppounting!!
Wonderful! Best dim sum this side of Yank Sing in SF.
I enjoyed my birthday at the Source ! The food was delicious! They had personalized the menu for me . Also made cookies for my guests and were accommodating when we had to include a couple more seats . I will definitely be back !
Was freezing in the restaurant, we waited an hour for our entree after our dumplings - no cream
Or half and half for our coffee? How can a top notch kitchen not have any cream? Very disappointing!
The 7 course tasting menu allowed the kitchen to showcase the chef's best. Each course was creative, beautifully presented and delicious. Service was impeccable. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The food was excellent. The stars of the show were the Tuna tartar and the duck
Always wonderful service and food at the House of Puck! Thank you.
One of the best meals I've had from beginning to end. Started with Tiger shrimp dumplings, then the Half Duck w/ drunken noodles, and finished it off with the 15 layer carrot cake. Awesome!!! Everything was very well done. I've had duck a bunch of times, and it tends to be fatty. Not here! They render down there duck fat so we'll that all you are left with is perfectly crisp skin and moist duck, served with the drunken noodles. The dumplings were tremendous, I could have eaten two orders of that.
The restaurant wasn't overly crouded and it's surprising because the food is outstanding. If you're in the Capitol Hill area you have to check it out. You won't be disappointed, I promise!
Great vibe, waiter was attentive, we’ll definitely be back.
We celebrate our anniversary and as many birthdays at The Source as much as we can. The ambience is romantic with dimmed lights in a cozy space. They have exceptional service, which is rare now. The staff will all pay special attention to you and make the dining experience very special. The food is consistently delicious. It tends to be on the salty side, but overall, always delicious. I would recommend The Source to visitors and locals. A gem 💎.
I took a friend who was visiting from L.A. and wanted to celebrate his birthday. Made a last-minute reservation about an hour beforehand, and mentioned his birthday. They greeted us at the door and wished him a happy birthday. Then, to my delight... there were two complimentary glasses of champagne and a personalized menu with his name and a "Happy Birthday" message! Our waiter was great and the manager stopped by, as well. They even treated us to two delicious dessert items. The icing on the cake was the food..... delicious! It made his evening! Have already started recommending The Source to everyone!
Its not the great place that is used to be. Old and drab. Filthy bathrooms and poor service. Still trading on a icon name but have not kept up. Same food, not bad. So many other great restaurants in DC. Your money is spent better elsewhere.
Perfect dinner for my mother’s birthday
Based on the reviews we were expecting much more than we got. The "impossible" pot stickers were boring and didn't compare to any dumpling I ever ate in a Chinese restaurant. The "numb and hot" fried rice was equally mundane. The shrimp and carrot dumplings were good. The bill for 2 appetizers and 1 rice dish was $60. Disappointed is best I can say, but ripped off is a more accurate description.
This was the most amazing dining experience of my life. My wife and I had the 7 course meal paired with some exceptional Pinot Grigio and I must say we were completely blown away. I let the staff know in advance that it was my wife’s birthday and they had her name and happy birthday specially printed out on our menus. The waiter was super knowledgeable and friendly, he even added some champagne with our amuse bouche. It was expensive but totally worth it, highly recommended!
Thank you for making my birthday wonderful with such a friendly and refined meal.
The staff was wonderful and made my husband feel special on his birthday!
Another extraordinary meal at one of the city's most overlooked restaurants. For lunch: Miso cones, dumpling platter, shrimp with XO fried rice, followed by free chocolate chip cookies and a piece of 7 lawyer carrot cake. Great drinks.
The 7 course menu was A M A Z I N G ! And very vast 👌🏻 wine and beverage list was huge, so many great options! And last but not least the service is on point, thanks guys! 💕 definitely a must in DC
We were really keen to visit the Source but had to change our booking a couple of times to accommodate our evolving schedule. On both occasions rebooking was seemless, but it did mean we ended up having the lunch menu rather than the tasting menu which is available in the evening. That said, what we had was of the highest quality and for $36pp for a generous 3 course lunch, it represented great value. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the dishes themselves really showcased the restaurant very well. Our favourites were probably the dumplings and sushi bowl, but the cookies to finish were a great hit and some of them even returned with us across the Atlantic to be enjoyed at home.
The food was very good, but the service was extremely poor. It took the waiter a long time to come to us, take our order, bring our food, and complete the check. Such great food was offset by very shabby service. It wasn't even busy.
2nd time here and as always everyone was so hospitable and friendly, and of course food was off the charts! Are server Jorge is the best, and we always ask for him when dining!
This is quickly becoming one of my go-to places. The house Wolfgang Puck cab is an excellent wine. Ordered the hot oysters which are absolutely delicious with the dipping sauce they provide. Decided to try the Colorado lamb. It was a great dish. Very tender. Also had the Lo Mein Noodle from the wok which were excellently prepared with mushrooms.
Great service from the start to the finish. Jorge had great wine recommendations as well!
Will be back soon
The ambiance is refined and located at the Newseum. Asian fusion food is super delicious. The waiter was helpful and was ready at all times to answer questions and find solutions to our special requests. I recommend this for both lunch and dinner.
Had dinner here during restaurant week. Big mistake! This is first restaurant that I've been to where none of the dishes on the restaurant week menu are on the regular menu. On top of that, the portions were tiny. I ended up having to order an extra dish for each guest off of the regular menu just to ensure we didn't leave there hungry. This is my first and last time to this restaurant. Totally not worth it given all the good restaurants in DC especially during restaurant week.
Warm greeting by the hostess and were seated immediately, even though we were a half hour early. She seemed pleased that we were early. Our server Jorge was friendly and helpful. He was also very attentive as was the water server. My spouse and I chose from the Restaurant Week list ($35). Vegetable sushi rolls to start, which were nicely presented as well as delicious! 3 pieces each and our son helped us out. He got the Pei Pa Duckling ($32) from the main menu and enjoyed the flavors and portion size. I had the Kung Pao Beef and my wife the XO Chicken. Both were very well presented and tasty. For drinks I wanted the Sam Adams Summer Ale, but they were out so the Manager comped me the Ommegang Rosetta $(12), which was ironic because we live about an hour away from their Cooperstown Brewery. It was an interesting change from my normal craft brew selections, but I enjoyed it as it complimented my meal. Spouse chose the Pinot Grigio ($10) from a wide selection of wines. Jorge even refilled her glass, but we did not see a charge for a second glass on the bill. Son had two mini bottles of Coke at $3 each. Dessert choices on RW menu were Carrot Cake or Yuzu Pannacotta (sp?), we both chose the Carrot Cake (Superb!) and Jorge brought over a small Pannacotta (sp?) for my son with no charge. Overall an excelent experience.
Good vibe and the food was great. The service was outstanding and the right mix of diners made a pleasant dining experience.
The food tasted fabulous. Service was impeccable. Bring Restaurant Week it was a great value. Would definitely go again
Loved their restaurant week menu! Such a great deal, and the food is fantastic!
Fantastic service, and the dim sum brunch was as good as always. The restaurant even gave us a complimentary dessert and commemorative scroll for our anniversary.
we had a wonderful dinner with delicious food and wine.
Fantastic food! Would go back for dinner or happy hour.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable business dinner for nine on a stormy August evening. The table was well located for conversation among a large party. Great wine recommendations. The dumpling appetizer platter was creative and enjoyed by all. Entrees were perfectly cooked. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Looking forward to returning.
Fantastic food and service! The food was flavoursome and delicious- would highly recommend.
This is one of the best restaurants! The staff & food were top quality. Highly recommend the every course but especially the desserts.
Service was excellent. Do yourself a favor and order the whole roasted duckling. It came in two courses - not sure which we liked better as they were both outstanding.
We were visiting DC and the museums on the Mall, and when they started to close we went to the restaurant. The server was as cute and friendly and helpful and patient as anyone could be. We were tired from walking, having just toured the Newseum (the restaurant is in the same building), so we sat in the lounge rather than going upstairs to the dining room. But we ordered from the dining room menu. I can’t remember the name of the IPA I had, but it was quite good. The food was excellent, and I’m pretty particular, especially at these prices. I had a lamb stir-fry in a fabulous sauce with toasted cumin, crispy new potatoes, asparagus and cilantro. My wife had pork and cabbage dumplings and a very creative baby gem lettuce salad with cashews, various veggies and a lemon vinaigrette dressing. We shared organic chicken wontons, which also were delicious, as an appetizer. It was quite pricey, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.
Great food!! One of my favorite places in DC for a very nice dinner. Will be back soon
