Food was good and nice atmosphere. From a value perspective it was not great. The waiter way over-sold us on food and so it was a bit expensive especially since my husband and I paid for the dinner for the entire party. I pushed back on the quantity a bit and he pushed to order more than I thought we needed for our group and we had a tonnes of leftovers (which we took home) but it was an expensive evening for us. Some of the tapas dishes were better than others. Didn't like the calamari, steak and duck hearts as much but loved the tacos, cauliflower steak, burritos, potatoes and fries.

Straight off I have to admit that I have not been on the restaurant scene the past couple of years for all these great reason, kids, divorce, house, blah, blah, blah but I have to say hands down this restaurant is the best I have EVER eaten at in Ottawa!
The food was beyond fantastic, the combination of flavours just blew my mind.. I kept expecting the next dish to come would ruin our evening as there was no way it could top the previous but they just kept getting better. Even the dessert was something special.
I actually do NOT want to go back to this place only because I fear the food could never top what we had there last night and forever mar what was the best culinary experience I have had in decades.

This wasn't the first time we eat at the Soca Kitchen and it definitely won't be the last. This supper was to introduce some friends and business clients to Soca and they were equally as impressed. At supper, we started with some cocktails which brought a tasty twist to some classics. The cocktail I had was Soca's take on the "old fashioned" which came in a very impressive glass bell filled with smoke giving the drink a nice smokey flavour and looked very fancy. After a few drinks, we shared appetizers which were beautifully presented and tasted unbelievable. Of all the appetizers we shared, I think the Duo Tacos (pork) were my favorite with juicy pork and a nice light sauce, but the Nopales Ceviche and Charred Cauliflower Steak were amazing as well. Nothing disappointed and the service was terrific. We look forward to coming back and tasting more of the amazing menu!

I've visited Soca many times in the last 4 years and I'm so impressed with the consistency in service and food quality. I can't get enough of their seafood tapas- We always feel welcome, the staff is very wine knowledgable and attentive in a friendly way (never over-done or stuffy).

My second visit in less than a two weeks! I have to say, we were not disappointed!! The restaurant was extremely busy so we were good that we made reservations! The atmosphere was energenic and our waitress was extremely helpful on helping us understand the dining tapas concept and recommended each time. Food is always inventive and tasty. We will be back to try their new menu soon again.

Fantastic. That is one of many words to describe our dinner at Soca. We have been there several times and it is better every time. The octopus, the tuna and the calamar were all prepared to perfection and served by a friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Fabulous and delicious meal.

Food was the worst I've had in a long time. The steak tasted like pickles and the octopus was not appetizing at all. Same went for the muscles. The wine was the only enjoyable thing at the table. Service was sooooo slow. I've heard bad things about the restaurant but I wanted to give it a chance. Most certainly last time I'll ever go.

It was exciting until the food came. Though I've been to Spain and had lots of tapas, this was less than a satisfactory experience. To put it politely, the servers were awkward and less than accomadating. Straws sinking into the drinks, lack of space on tables for food, awkward service and less than inviting. The atmosphere is so crucial to nail tapas down. Though all ethnicities are welcome we were at least Spanish/latino servers and likewise music. The food was definitely overpriced for what is being ordered. The tomato bread though somewhat tasty was not worth $5.80 for pureed tomatoes and garlic, thrown on the plate with no real care. The oysters were not fresh and are definitely not worth $3 each. Beet salad would have been lovely except for the overly sweet brittle overpowering the natural sweetness of the whole salad, though the crema was nice. I would have also preferred some greens in it and maybe olive oil. The patatas were tasty, though were underdone in many areas, and the spicyness was not well balanced with the aioli. We could have gone to a shawarma place and had nicer potatoes. After all of the smaller plates, we were less than satisfied and even debated ordering mains. Mid experience we decided we were finished and weren't expecting anymore. We asked for the bill and $65 later we were less than pleased and went elsewhere for dinner! We do not mind spending money on food, as my husband is a chef and we visit restaurants frequently, but for value vs taste and cost it was disappointing. I hope improvements can be made for the future. Thank you.

Imma big fan of tapas, and although the food here was alright, I don’t feel that we received value for what turned out to be quite an expensive meal.
I did not enjoy the sourdough plate, can’t really think why this is popular.

Our eating area was very cozy, great ambiance and nice decor

The food was very good, we ordered two tappas with the whole fish

The service from staff felt rushed (e.g., they brought us the bill for payment even though we never signaled we were ready to leave) and lacking a bit of attention, otherwise it was fine

I would recommend to give it a try

Love loveee this restaurant! Definitely one of my favourites. We had a lot of tapas, some of the highlights of the night were: shrimp ceviche, octopus carpaccio, the calamar and tacos! Can’t come here and not order the tamarind mojito! Their new dessert “tres leches” was to die for!

The food was unique but we thought there should be more variety and a more explicit explanation of each dish.
The wine was lovely but way overpriced, or at the very least there should have been some cheaper options.

We had never been to this restaurant and were looking for a change of pace - the menu was different and we enjoyed both the seafood tower and the two tapas plates (potatoes and steak). Our server was friendly and helpful and not too attentive so wasn’t disruptive to our enjoying dinner. Recommend if you are looking for something outside your usual.

We had another great night at Soca Kitchen! The food was fantastic as always. The charcuterie board for 4 was one of the best I have had and was the perfect size for our group. Other favourites were the pan tomate, grilled calamari and duo taco. The only thing that prevented me from giving a full five stars was the timing. Our cocktails and charcuterie came out came out right away, but then ALL of our other dishes arrived before we were finished the board. We ordered a bottle of wine when the food arrived, but unfortunately it didn’t get to the table until we were finished eating. It wasn’t a big problem - we lingered and enjoyed the wine after our meal, but it would have been nice to have it along with our food. I’m chalking it up to a busy night at a great restaurant :) I’m looking forward to my next visit!

The predetermined on v-day menu catered to seafood lovers which I am
Not. I wish they had more options for appetizers , but the ambiance is amazing. The food wasn’t to my liking. Great date place just not on v-day where the menu is limited.
