The Smoking Goat is an award-winning California-French bistro located in the heart of North Park, San Diego. We have received the Gold Medallion for the best French Bistro in San Diego three years running.

Inspired by his European Farm-to-Table up-bringing and culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Executive Chef and Owner Fred Piehl, marries classic French cuisine with the bounty of San Diego in a way that is rustic, yet refined, imaginative, yet unpretentious.

The dinners served feature in-season local, sustainable and organic ingredients and provide guests with a unique culinary experience, reminiscent of the European countryside.

great service and vibe. The scallops + corn risotto dish was delicious! top-notch. I would definitely go back. Note that parking is challenging, so its best to Uber.

Wonderful food! We had the mussels, steak frites and duck. The sauce the mussels were in was amazing yum yum yum! Our waiter was awesome, he gave great menu suggestions and outstanding service. Will definitely go back.

Absolutely Outstanding Experience! The Smoking Goat exceeded all our expectations! The food was out of this world—every bite was packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. The drinks were just as impressive, crafted with care and great balance. A special shoutout to our waiter, Adam, who made the experience even better. He gave us a few recommendations, and we’re so glad we took his word for it—every dish he suggested was a hit. His service was attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish. Truly an unforgettable dining experience. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We got the beef tartar, wild scallops over corn risotto and asparagus and the 72 hour brined pork chop. Ordered the goat cheese cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious and Ryan, our server was awesome!

Very casual. Nice staff and a great setting for a pleasant evening. We had the beet salad and mussels for starters, both excellent. The steak frites were really delicious, the steak so tender it was near fork-tender. Loved the experience from start to finish.

Had a great evening- lots of wonderful choices for every course. Server was attentive and checked in regularly- met the manager who was delightful. Food, as always, was a wonderful experience. Cannot wait to return!!
