Love the GOAT! Get the mussels, steak frites, and a bottle of red -- you won't be disappointed!
Great date night place! We ordered escargot, pear salad, pork chop, and duck breast. Everything was superb. I tasted the duck breast - not a fan (a little gamey for me), but my husband liked it. Everything else tasted great! Lovely ambience, very friendly staff, and quiet place to chat with your date. Tasty Bordeaux red and white wine as well. We'll keep this on our list of romantic date night restos to go to in San Diego :)
Very standard pseudo-French bistro fare. Average at best in terms of how the dishes were prepared and the flavor profiles. You can very much tell that dishes are line-prepped rather than prepared by an actual chef. Disappointing given the popularity of reviews, which is what drew us here, but not a place I’ll come back to. Too many superior alternatives, especially in this neighborhood.
Food was great. Our server was attentive and friendly. Kitchen had some kind of delay that meant waiting for 30+ mins between appetizer and entree. The Manager did a great job of working the room, and upon realizing the delay, comped our steak frites. Would definitely visit again.
The food was great. It’s way too hot inside the restaurant during the summer. Also, large parties are terrible for noise. The large party was so loud you could hear nothing but them. We asked to be moved and it helped. The pork chop was outstanding and the duck with farro was amazing. Food and service were good. Noise and temp not so great.
Always enjoy a nice meal here, great food and friendly staff
Relaxed North Park atmosphere, wait staff is attentive and pleasant, but not intrusive. Food is good, duck liver pate is amazing (5 stars), lamb chop cooked to perfection needed a bit more sauce, swordfish cooked right with an excellent sauce, duck slightly over cooked.
All in all nice place and will go again
The food leans French without being too overt or self-impressed about it. There's a good mix of lighter dishes and heavy, full meals. The wine list covers the bases, with a mix of styles and price points, without getting intimidating. We shared salads and apps and everything we had was good. The truffle fries are a HUGE dish, plenty for the table. (Try the octopus, too.)
We sat outside, which was nice--with enough table spacing and some careful lighting choices that made it feel inside-outside for people like us who aren't quite ready to hang out indoors with strangers. We were there during the EuroCup finals, and it's next to a sports bar, so it was somewhat loud and there was a lot of traffic. But, it's a popular spot on a busy block, and it was Saturday night in the summer. I'm just glad there's enough happening to make it sound like summer again.
Food was good, but service was very slow. Room temperature was also quite warm.
Worst pork chop I have ever had in an upscale restaurant. Meat was tough and under seasoned. Capresee salad was subpar. French onion soup was average at best. Given the quality of food, it was overpriced.
Excellent food and service. Waiter was very knowledgeable and recommended drinks and food.
Have been to this restaurant in the past and have enjoyed it. This time was a bit of a disappointment, as reported to the server and manager - my duck breast was tasteless.
Lovely flexible seating inside or outside offered. Readily seated early by 15 minutes. Freshly popped champagne, superb French onion soup, and amazing swordfish with many terrific accompaniments. A cheese plate to remember, no stinting on the sides. Great wine selection.
Excellent pork chop and steak frites
Loved the outdoor dining availability!
An excellent spot all around. Comfortable, good service, nice surroundings, and a comfort-based French menu that's expertly executed and just elevated enough to be interesting but not stuffy. There's no bar, but various versions of wine and beer are available, including a few housemade rice wine cocktails.
Food and service was great!! Will go back again. Only thing doesn't have full cocktail menu wine and beer only.
The service was excellent. The food was very good. We had the Filet Tartare, which was delicious. Highly recommend. The wine list was interesting and good. They have a nice house white, red and rose from France, and offer 6 oz and 9 oz pours.
Our objection was that they seated us at the very end of the parklet sidewalk, next to the dumpster, away from the hustle and the bustle. It was a weird place to sit. A little uncomfortable.
They are such a welcoming restaurant. They made us feel extra special. The service was top notch and paid attention to details which many other higher end restaurants sometimes forgets.
Our appetizers were dee-lish as well as our main entrees— salmon plate and mussels. They have very good choices for cocktails, wine or beer. From the hostess to the chefs and everyone in between are an amazing team!
Well done! Will come back for sure!!
It was just great! The food was mostly great; only the steak was a little over-cooked. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. It’s been a while since I’ve been here and I’m so glad to return!
I have been here before and really enjoyed it. This time, I felt like the service was dismissive and standoffish. I mentioned the wine was just OK and that I didn't like one of the cheeses at all (I left it on the plate) and there was no accommodation made or even referenced. I will not go back. Honestly, we were treated like we were an inconvenience.
It was nice but a tad over priced. There was s constant smell, maybe from dirty sidewalks?
Great service great food
Amazing service, delicious food!! I would definitely visit again.
We were so impressed with The smoking goat. Every single dish that came out was phenomenal. The atmosphere sitting outside was perfect. They had heaters at every table. The service was great and food came out quick (couldn't believe how fast our appetizers arrived). We had visitors with us from LA, and they said it was some of the best food they've had, and they're used to eating at the best restaurants in LA. Highest recommendations for Appetizers: Baked brie, Octopus, French onion soup.
Main dishes: the Salmon & the Chicken. We will be back very soon!!
The food and service here are always excellent and almost felt like pre-pandemic days with no masks required except that the staff is still wearing masks.
The duck fries were the highlight of the meal. The steaks
were cooked perfectly. Even if it's not on the menu asked for the ice cream. The vanilla ice cream is outstanding
Delicious and fresh food. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. The pork chop is HUGE.
The food was amazing, the service was even better! We sat at the bar and the owner and kitchen manager were so nice and accommodating I would recommend this place to anyone. Great night!!!
The food was amazing and service was perfect.
Everything was wonderful as usual though we were next to a large loud table and it was hard to hear. Since we were early it would have ben nicer to have been seated farther away.
Our first time to dine here and food was great! We will definitely come back. Customer service is on point! Excellent suggestions by Sean our server.
Great food, albeit a little pricey. Excellent atmosphere and friendly, competent staff. Been coming here for a few years and plan to return many times.
Delicious food, great service, fantastic ambience!! One of the best restaurants in San Diego!!!
The staff was great, food was delicious, wine was flowing! Will definitely add this into my regular rotation
Amazing service! Tasty food. Great ambience! Would certainly be coming back
Escargot, crispy octopus and duck fat truffle fries are excellent appetizers. Pork chop was massive and swordfish and pasta dishes were large. Everything was cooked perfectly and service was prompt without being overbearing. Would definitely go again. Reservations strongly recommended as the restaurant got very busy after 6:30pm.
Not a bad restaurant, just not one I would rush back to especially given the prices. Service and food was okay. The dessert was the best part of the meal and I did appreciate that they offered outdoor dining. Definitely not a restaurant for a vegetarian. I’d like to see more variety on the menu. The salmon on the menu was farm raised rather than wild which was disappointing.
Very loud girls drinking wine
The food was very good: had the mussels, lamb bolognese and wild mushroom pasta. Service was good. We sat outside.
