Disappointed that tour bus patrons constantly parading through to the bathrooms, which are in the middle of the restaurant. At one point, there was a line outside both men’s and women’s that wrapped past our table. The door was held open and it is less than appetizing to hear all the sounds that accompany such a scene while trying to enjoy your dinner. Suffice it to say, we will not be returning.
Awesome food and service
The peel and eat shrimp was what brought our party of 6 to this restaurant. We ordered 1 lb. Peel & Eat shrimp and those were very good...the shrimp was a decent size and nice and firm. It was served with cocktail sauce and drawn butter. The cocktail sauce was lack luster and tasted like a no frills brand from the grocery store and the drawn butter was fine. Everything else on the menu was fair to yuck... we ordered both of their soups were kinda gross (I cannot remember exactly what they were called, but they were something like shrimp bisque and a corn chowder). They did have a little of the seafood in them, but the soup base was this thick stuff that you could almost stand a spoon in and didn't have much of the seafood flavor you would expect. The "famous" caesar salad was anything but...certainly not worthy of being famous... the romaine was clean, cold and crisp but the dressing lacked authentic caesar flavoring. 2 of us ordered the Pine bark stew as our main course... can you say barely edible! There was some seafood in it, but the overwhelming use of onions and more of the thick, gloppy soup base was pretty yuck! We both ended up picking out the couple shrimps and scallops we found, but left all the other "stuff" behind. The decor is kinda old and a little worn and dirty looking. Our waitress was efficient and personable though. All in all, I would NOT go back. There are so many great places to eat in Savannah...do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!!!
The service was poor, we didn't recieve salads that were supposed to come with out meal. We had to ask for the rolls and salads. We never got the salad even after asking. The food was mediocre for the price and not very flavorful. It was disappointing because this was recommend as one of the best restaurants.
Food not as good as in past visits. Soup was very good.
Our shrimp dish was good, but their “pine bark stew” was really short on seafood. The shrimp cocktail contained 4 medium shrimp. The value was not there, even for a tourist area.
The best dinner we enjoyed in Savannah this trip.
The Shrimp Factory provides an adequate riverfront dining experience. The food is okay, but not particularly notable. The service was quite slow, and it was a slow night, so I'm not sure what the distraction was, but it was incredibly slow service the night we were there. The Bananas Foster almost made up for all the issues, however.
We loved the shrimp factory! The food was excellent! As for the service, it was top notch. Anna was our server and she was GREAT! very friendly and personable. If your in Savannah definitely visit!
Great meal, as always. One of the best restaurants in Savannah.
My boyfriend actually proposed to me at the restaurant this past Saturday night! We showed up 15min early, and they sat us right away. Nice music and lighting. I can’t remember the servers name, but she was quick to help him in any way he needed to pull off the proposal. Such a great place for it to happen! Also, fantastic shrimp and grits!!!
Great place with wonderful ambiance. We had a party of 7, and the service and food were excellent. They easily provided a different table from the one they'd reserved for us, in order to accommodate a person with physical limitations. The food is pricey but delicious. A treat for special occasions.
We went specifically for the stuffed shrimp. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress to even approach our table.......it was not busy at all. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp, and was given stuffed flounder. He sent it back. I tried to eat very slowly waiting for his food. I finished my food, and then still waited 10-15 minutes for his new meal. I have worked in the restaurant business, and his replacement dinner should have been given highest priority, and brought out as quickly as possible. The waitress did apologize, but a manager never came over, and we were not comped anything! We ordered 2 appetizers, 4 alcoholic beverages, and 2 dinners. It seems something could have been taken off the bill. I spent the whole meal jumping because the rack for the tray holders was right beside our table, where the wait staff constantly slammed the holders against the wall. We ate at Vic’s on the River the previous evening for less money, better food, ambiance, and service. I would highly suggest going there instead.
Excellent service! Best seafood ever! Waitstaff were attentive without being too intrusive. Large servings well plated.
Service was slow, it took an hour for us to receive our food-then when we received it, the food was cold. Our waiter was not attentive to where we had to ask another server to assist us. The experience was horrible.
I had the Savannah stuffed shrimp and it was terrible! My husband had the shrimp Alfredo and I can tell you that Olive Garden has much much better! It was our wedding night and they knew that and they did even offer us a free dessert or anything! Not anywhere I would ever want to go back!
We are locals and used to love this place. Despite having a reservation, our table was crammed between a wall and another group of diners. The server never brought our cocktail order and had a bad attitude. The food was mediocre, at best. We won’t be going back.
Food was excellent and service efficient and very pleasant. Would certainly return
Very good seafood. Enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Would recommend to anyone in Savannah for a couple days.
Great slow boil and apps. Highly recommend for dinner!
To say that I was disappointed in my dining experience at The Shrimp Factory would be an understatement. I was with a party of 8 on 1/26/19. I was excited to eat here and celebrate my birthday, this excitement was short lived. Our server in training was left to tend to our party and she was clearly struggling. Aside from taking our order and bringing our checks we saw our server, Jedidiah, maybe 3 times in the 2 hours we spent here. We were served water in plastic cups, all other tables were served their drinks in glasses. Appetizers took a long time and arrived cold, alongside the calamari tasting burnt. We asked several times but did not receive silverware until about 30 minutes after being sat. After ordering, our food came out about 30-35 minutes later cold. I ordered the crab stuffed flounder and my food was not only cold, but the fish was the texture of rubber. I sent this back and gave the shrimp alfredo a try. This, as the rest of the food, came out cold. At this point I asked to speak to a manager. Of the 8 of us at dinner, the only two who ate their food were the two people who ordered fried shrimp. One of the guests in my party ordered the shrimp and grits, the gravy was brown water. It was extremely thin, translucent, and had no flavor. I asked for the manager, Jen, and when she arrived I informed her of dissatisfied state we all were in, which was evident in everyone's faces, she was more than passive about it. Though she did apologize, she did not offer a resolution and left. Our server later came back with the checks and said that the manager took 30% off of each check. I was very disappointed with my birthday celebration here and because many of us hadn't eaten all day in anticipation of our dinner, we had to leave and order pizza. The table next to us was a large party and had the same complaints of cold food. This was a very disappointing experience and I would 10/10 recommend others do not dine here.
We were celebrating a birthday on a Friday night. Although our server was very pleasant, it took 40 minutes to get our appetizer and it came after the salads. The chowder and the bisque were very salty and we couldn’t eat all of it. The pasta primavera was also very salty.
Was extremely happy with the service was out of town first time coming and the entire staff was extremely polite being a business owner customer service means everything to me. I highly recommend and 5 stars is not enough.
Not noteworthy at all. Fair at best. Disappointing.
We sat down at the time of our reservation. The waiter was great. Everything was great.
A very bad experience. Service was poor, the food was not up to par.
The chowder which sounded delicious was just okay. Was lukewarm and lumpy. Creole very tasty, as was the salmon. Service was attentive, and food was served in a timely manner. Nice location right on River Street. It was a chilly day and our seats (even after moving once) were drafty.
Great food, excellent service and the best singer guitarist. Order the Bananas Foster for dessert, it's awesome!
My confirmed reservation was not on the restaurant system. Looks like the website and restaurant system did not communicate, however, we did not have any problems the reception crew received us and took care of the situation very efficiently. Great job, great food and awesome waiter.
For a place along the touristy strip, and looking fairly bar-like, we were very pleased with the quality of our fish/shrimp.
I would have given 5 stars except all of the breading has pepper in it and is hot. The taste of the food was delicious but we did not like the 'hot' after taste...
Waited for over 2 hours for our meal. Never again will we go back
We are from Cincinnati, and when we go to Savannah, we always go to the Shrimp Factory. A favorite place of ours. The food is delicious. I had Shrimp & Grits - awesome! The best I have had anywhere. The desserts were just as good, and we all belonged to the clean plate club. Our waiter did a superb job, and was very attentive to our needs.
Returned after 5 years for boiled shrimp. Still delicious. Thank you.
The waiter provided excellent customer service. Nice atmosphere, and great food!
Offered a high top table despite a reservation. Blaring Christmas music on December 2nd, second only to blaring commentary from a GA football game. Menus sticky, table sticky...we walked out into a rainy street rather than stay. Lucky us.
I have been to the Shrimp Factory once before for dinner and twice for lunch and it has never disappointed. This time the food was even above the others. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and everything else was just as great. It is definitely my go to restaurant on River Street.
Very nice time dining here. Calamari was great. Fried Green Tomatoes nothing to right home about, but fine. Food was good. Our waitress was excellent.
We went to the shrimp factory for Thanksgiving. We are from Virginia and we felt so fortunate to find a restaurant that was open and that was serving the traditional meal. It was delicious food. The waiter did an outstanding job. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience!
