The Shore Club - Toronto Ratings and Reviews
Having been several times prior to this weekend I know the service to be much better than what we encountered. The staff & management were aware of their shortcomings and all hands were on deck but the service was terribly off. I will most likely try the restaurant at least once more to ensure it was an odd night for them but concerned that this may be the new way.
We went for the buck a shuck oysters in the lounge and dinner. The oysters were small but delicious. We also ordered the braised short ribs and risotto as a side (squash risotto). The sauce on the braised short ribs was great and flavourful, but I found them a bit on the dry side. The squash risotto was creamy and rich. Both were good sized portions.
The Restaurant is beautiful. The service was very good. Some of the food was amazing. Steaks were prepared perfectly. The fish was prepared very nicely too. Some of the side dishes were great. Especially the mac & cheese and scalloped potatoes. The roasted broccoli wasn’t really roasted. Was actually almost raw and even room temperature in parts. Green beans were underdone and plain tasting. Desserts were disappointing. Chocolate brownie was dry and too sweet, apple crumble apple’s seemed preserved in some way. It was still an enjoyable evening and I would return for a special occasion.
Nice Ambiance, high ceilings, extensive wine list, courteous and attentive service, good location in entertainment district, close to public transit.
Food well prepared and presented, portion sizes generous (Steak & Lobster, Steak Tartar, Salmon Tartar, Mac & Cheese, Roasted Broccoli, Spicy Mushrooms, Baked Alaska)
Chairs too low and soft, steak was properly cooked but somewhat "stringy" considering the price. Sense that the seafood is more the specialty. The lobster tail was beautifully prepared and presented and tasted delicious.
Would recommend The Shore Club for a special occasion or treat but keep in mind it is a higher end restaurant and therefore priced accordingly.
The service was slow to start then got worse when we waited almost an hour for our dinner to arrive since the whole Atlanta Hawks team came in. Our waiter had apologized a few times but luckily I wasn’t too hungry after my appetitizers but my husband was angry & wanted to speak with the Manager. Fortunately our waiter was very understanding and gave us drinks on the house & some discounts off our meal for waiting so long. I did had to complain that my fish was missing the king crab meat & shrimp inside but our waiter gave me a fresh plate quickly. Food was good, not great.
It was so nice to be in a quiet restaurant so we could here each other speak. The service was attentive without being annoying and our waiter was perfect. I wish the tables were round, it’s difficult to have a conversation, at rectangular tables( there were 6 of us). The food, not awful, just not anything. Very unmemorable. Too bad.
For a fancy steak house, the steak had a "ponderosa" vibe to it...thin, rare (even though I ordered medium rare) and salty...kind of like the kind you'd get with a steak and eggs breakfast at a diner...not really "steakhouse quality"...w were there for lunch, so I suspect the steak is better at dinner time, but definitely not worth the price...décor and ambiance is nice though...
We were in a bit of a hurry- and our server asked about timing. We were out exactly as needed but never felt hurried. Good food, nice ambiance, and very professional service. They all called me Mr. (name) (from reservation). Not cheap, but not over the top and worth every penny. We will be repeat customers.
This was our first time here, we had been celebrating our anniversary. The food, the service was absolutely amazing, we will most certainly go back. We had a little booth off to the side, which was amazing, very private, unfortunately there was a table in front of us that was so loud and obnoxious that we wished we could’ve moved somewhere else.
Can not wait to go back
The restaurant is very impressive with the finishes and décor. We were however disappointed with the main course. We both had fish dishes. We could see that the halibut was of good quality however it was extremely overcooked and dried. The dover sole was not of usual presentation and the portion was very small considering that the prices are in the higher bracket.
Great restaurant. From the moment you walk in the ambiance is set with dim lighting and a great decor. Our waiter Monty was superb, always checking to ensure we have everything we need. Thanks Monty.
My wife and I both order the steak with lobster tail. Was not very impressed with the food, it was just OK.
Overall, great experience and I will visit again.
The filet mignon, mahi mahi and buttermilk fried chicken were all excellent. The key lime pie was homemade, fresh and absolutely delicious. Service was friendly, thoughtful and well-timed. There was unfortunately one hiccup. Our table was mistakenly reserved in the bar area instead of the dining room. However, Krista was quick to assess the situation and she thoughtfully and generously corrected the problem. I am most grateful and highly recommend the Shore Club for an enjoyable dining experience.
Our server Elissa (spelling?) was very friendly, helpful, and thoroughly and gave us excellent service.
We were lucky enough to go for an early weekend dinner so the restaurant was much quieter than it would be on a regular weekday.
The food was very excellent although I was disappointed that the salmon Wellington was no longer on the menu.
