The Russian House
The Russian House always provides a wonderful atmosphere with top-notch service and amazing food. You will not find better cuisine in Austin.
The valentines day dinner lives up to high standards that Russian House regularly defines. Despite there being a busy flow of people, I never felt like I was having to talk over anyone or struggle to hear my date. As always, the food was outstanding. I ordered a few things which I wasn't familiar with, but I trusted the chefs to deliver quality and they did not disappoint. Finally, the fruit/dessert bar cannot be understated. Just a constant, copious supply of fresh sweets.
The service was so incredibly poor. We were there for 3 hours..
Food and service was exceptional. Beef stroganoff is a must!
Took my colleagues for a fun dinner. We had a great time and they accommodated us perfectly! I highly enjoyed our time there.
Great experience and wonderful food.
Great food but an awkward setting. Too much of a “pick-up” place for same sex couples....both outside, in the bar and the dining room. Probably not returning until the restaurant returns to the fundamentals of dining and not a social scene.
We have been there a few times a few times over the years. This has always been our favorite place when we go to Austin. The menu seems to have changed since our last visit. The food is still very good. The place has a very authentic Soviet ambience. The service is pretty good. Can be a bit slow. We recommend this place highly.
Food was amazing and service was really good waiter was very nice and respectful
Great spot! Celebrated my bday there and our waitress Victoria was great as we were a party of 15! The drinks mainly vodka were delicious and the food was yummy.
Good food, great service. We definitely plan to go again.
Great place having lived in Moscow for 12 years . Food was authentic to Russian cuisine. And what can be found in restaurants in the city of Moscow. Great time . Thank you Russian House . Would happily return next time in Austin. Great Find .
Fun and unique setting with great food. And, if you love vodka, you must try this place.
When I made the reservation I stated we were celebrating a birthday & to our surprise, we were seated in one of the private rooms! Service was very attentive. Our server helpfully answered our questions about menu items. Food was mostly tasty & resonably priced. Nice touches are the complimentary appetizer plate including vodka shots & the various Russian hats, jackets, etc. available at the door if you want to really get into the whole Russian experience!
Yummy authentic food, Russian nationals, Russian ambiance
Excellent meal - well prepared !
Great food and service. Loved the complimentary shots of vodka.
Most of the issues we had were with the service. We dined on Christmas Eve and it seemed as though our server had never waited on a table before. My dad ordered a 7&7 but he was brought a sprite, my father in law ordered a drink off the cocktail menu and the server had no clue what he was asking for until we showed him the drink on the menu. A few minutes later we were told we would have to be out within an hour because they had other reservations (we also had a reservation), but the service was taking FOREVER so it was really out of our control. Once the food came the server dropped my moms trout all over the floor, it took over 20 minutes to get her a new one and everyone else had finished eating. The food was bland, my schnitzel was burnt and it took way to long to come out. By the time the meal was finally over we didn’t even look at a dessert menu, just wanted to get out of there. We won’t be back.
Fabulous, authentic cuisine. The perfect destination post Nutcracker. We had our 4 year old grandson and our server went out of her way to make him tasty snacks while we were enjoying g their fantastic caviar presentation.
The restaurant is more like eating a great family meal in your granny’s parlor.
I was just a little disappointed that our waitress was not Russian. I had heard from everybody I talked to that all the waiters were Russia and my friend that I took spoke a little Russian and I was hoping she might get an opportunity to speak a word or two so really that was my only disappointment. The food was good. Vodka was good our waitress did get a large party shortly after we got there so we did get a little left out after that.
We ran across the Russian house by mistake last week and knew we just had to try it. I asked my Russian-born friend if he had ever been here and he said he goes all the time. It has very authentic/home-cooked Russian/Ukrainian meals. We tried everything suggested and loved it all! A great value, too! Really cool ambience — almost like you are in some Russian family’s home from the 1950s. Definitely will go back again, soon!
Who knew? In the very center of downtown Austin is located this amazing, authentic Russian Restaurant. The environment submerges one into Russian culture, memorabilia, music, movies and of course unreal selection of Russian food. Love it!!!!
Our server completely ruined our experience and we will not be back again.
We love it here. Just a great place to dine.
Our meal and evening at The Russian House was very enjoyable. The young woman who served our table was attentive and helpful. The room itself was clean, attractive and quiet. The food was outstanding -- there were four of us and we all ordered something different. Each person loved their selection! I look forward to eating there again!
Chicken Kiev was over cooked. The Cheburek appetizer was fine, service was attentive.
Delicious food. Authentic Russian food. We loved the Vodka and the meal! Best Beef Stroganoff ever!
Some menu items did not match the presentation. IE mushroom soup was actually vegetable soup with mushrooms.
But, it tasted wonderful. Another item was a stuffed dumpling. The menu description was 16/4. But only 3 arrived. They said that it had changed but menus hadn't been updated. Well you could have told me ahead of time. Taste was great.
The assorted smoked fish platter was absolutely delicious. Try it with cream cheese and a slice of onion
Such a warm place with excellent authentic foods. Hundreds of different vodka infusions make the atmosphere interesting and vibrant. Great to make a tasting party. Highly recommend !!!
Really fun experience. Ambiance was so-so, too bright and a big screen TV. Get a private dining room if possible. Be sure to try the house infused vodka! Cayenne & Cherry was my favorite!
Great food, wonderful experience.
Great food, great service, very accommodating. Our waiter Sergei was wonderful!
Delicious food and a great atmosphere. You will not be disappointed.
Chicken was burned. BURNED! I complained and the waitress offered us complementary vodka shots. Not worth the $24 I paid for the chicken...
The food was wonderful and the restaurant is very cute and quaint. Had some issues but it was a busy night with their anniversary and probably out of the norm. I would return!
I will be back for sure! Loved the ambiance and the cute Halloween decorations.
Authentic Old World experience full of delicious flavors!
This was my first time for brunch at the Russian House. I have always enjoyed dinner here and was hoping for a similar experience at brunch. The brunch menu was very limited and not very interesting. Most of us ended up ordering off the dinner menu. Those that had food from the brunch menu were disappointed in the choice. The service was slow but the server did her best to accommodate a large group. I will go back, but for dinner not brunch.
Celebrated a friend’s birthday and had a wonderful time. We had the Caviar Blini, country potatoes, Pelmeni, Manty and Chicken Kiev. All dishes were delicious and well presented but the Chicken Kiev was the definite masterpiece. Our server was helpful and a delightful person. Highly recommended.
