Incredibly loud party at the next table plus relentless groups of flies attacking our food on the outside patio markedly detracted from our dining experience.

We had a fabulous meal on the outside garden area for 8 persons. Service was a little slow because they were very busy but it was ok since it was a fabulous night to be outdoors. The swordfish special was delectable and the sticky toffee pudding and strawberry shortcake were a hit!!! Been by there for a drink at the Tavern but first time trying the dinner experience! Strongly recommend!!

Walked in for brunch a couple weeks earlier and asked hostess for a seat on the porch for two, was told could not accommodate without a reservation. Took a less desirable table and enjoyed our meal. This time made a reservation for a friend s’ get-together requesting in advance a table for four at ferry end of porch. When we arrived no hostess was on duty, took 20 minutes to be acknowledged by staff and was told to seat ourself. Selected two tables for two at ferry end of porch and seated our selves. When waitress came out we were told we could not seat there and had to move. Moved to other end of porch. Left the group feeling unwelcome and confused. Waitress eventually warmed up (seemed overwhelmed). We did enjoy our meal.

We came for Sunday brunch on a beautiful 75 degree day. We love the atmosphere, and the service was really great. Friendly and attentive. I know eggs are a simple thing to order, but I did order them, fried over medium. Do you know how often they come back with runny whites or hard yolks? These eggs were PERFECT. Simple pleasures. Bacon delicious, all other food was terrific. Never a disappointment.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were friendly, professional and went out of their way to make the perfect dining experience. All courses of the meal were prepared meticulously by the chef who not only presented the food in an artistic and beautiful manner but had the flavor that just made my tastebuds celebrate.

Stepping into the Robert Morris Inn Tavern in Oxford, Maryland is like stepping into the past with all the modern conveniences at hand. The food was delicious although a burger I had ordered well done was undercooked, everything else was delicious and well served by our waiter. There are three dining locations to choose from: inside the tavern built with repurposed wood and brick from the 18th century; a sweet patio with trees and umbrellas to shade the tables in late afternoon ; and the front porch of the Inn with river views of the Tread Avon River.

Chef Mark Salter always puts out fabulous dinners with matching presentation. My wife’s salmon with lentils, parsnips, and baby potatoes was done to buttery perfection. My crab imperial stuffed flounder with beef tenderloin was equally as impressive. And, make sure you try the desserts! Our waiter Patrick had a bunch of tables yet treated each one like they were his only table. Incredibly attentive, friendly, and efficient. The perfect restaurant for my birthday dinner.

We are locals and brought my parents tonight. All of us had an incredible dinner. The chef is creative, and knows how to use delicate flavors. The vinaigrette on the salad was light and lovely. Our entrees ranged from fish and chips to salmon, a berry salad, and short ribs. Absolutely delicious!

if you go there with a gift certificate make sure you have all of the purchasing info with you'. we did fortunately. First they told us there was no money left on the card .then they told us our certificate had expired although we had just received it this past xmas. These gift certificates are good for one year. They like to sell the certificates but not anxious to redeem them. waitress was great , manager not so much.

Food rivals that of Scossa, the premier restaurant of the area. Staff could be more knowledgeable and better versed like the Scossa staff (which could go toe to toe with a top class NYC restaurant). Chef Salter does a tremendous job.

We went for Sunday brunch with friends. The Inn is historic and very cozy. All four of us had something different to eat and not one complaint-raves all around. The scones with homemade jam were outstanding. So was the sausage gravy over a fresh cheese biscuit. Don't get scared, there were healthy choices too, like homemade oatmeal. Service was spot on. When we asked some questions about the Inn, our server went and got us a brochure with the history of the Inn that we could review. I can't wait to go back!

Had not been to The Robert Morris Inn in a few years...I'm happy to say that the food was delicious and creatively presented. The cream of crab soup was a great starter...plenty of lump crab meat! The Inn's crab cake dinner did not disappoint and wine list selections were pleasing. Casey, our server, was attentive without being obtrusive...pleasant and welcoming. We were seated outdoors on the veranda and enjoyed our evening overlooking the Tred Avon...a delightful and wonderful end to our day.

This is the best place in town. Ask for the leaflet on the history of the building while you are there rather than getting on your way out. Hamburger was large and tasty as was shrimp curry which was a slightly small serving. Asked for catsup and got a very small serving in a tiny dish.

It's always a treat to be welcomed at the Robert Morris Inn, whether dining inside near the fireplace during the winter season or al fresco, as we did, on a beautiful summer morning. Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings and delicious and beautifully-prepared food. We enjoyed, as always!

I was staying at the Inn and dined alone - a single, female traveler of a certain age! I did not feel conspicuous or awkward at all. I felt entirely comfortable in the restaurant and enjoyed everything I ate -- a starter watermelon salad, then fish and chips, and then the sticky toffee pudding dessert (I couldn't finish all of it). Everything was very well prepared and tasty, but the watermelon salad was better than excellent. And the service was attentive without being overbearing. The ambience, wood beams, fireplace, and historic atmosphere, all added to my dining pleasure. And the sauvignon blanc was very good too!

Great food! Our server, Neal, was very attentive. It was a hot, humid evening and we chose to sit out on the porch. They would’ve accommodated us inside. In hindsight, that may have been a better option. We had the fish and chips and my husband had the burger. Both were very delicious. Would definitely return.

This is a great spot for dinner. The outdoor patio area is always nice HOWEVER it seems that every time we visit, the table we want is not available because there's no server or something. This visit, we were told we couldn't have a certain table (with a better view) only to watch 4 people walk up, take the table and get service. No discussion about why the other party got the table. It seems if you just take the table you want rather than asking, things work out. There's a nice row of covered tables along the front of the Inn and inevitably, these tables are "not available" only to see them fill up as the night progresses. Perhaps the servers are wrestling over a limited number of tips each night. The inside is usually empty.

The Robert Morris Inn is a very special place to have dinner. First of all, the restaurant is located in the house of Robert Morris in Oxford, Maryland; the man who spent his entire fortune to help General Washington win the Revolutionary War. Secondly, the food is exquisite. The Chef is always open to improvisation when I request a vegan plate. Finally, the service is second to none and the atmosphere unique. So, if you are in the Eastern Shore don’t forget to visit the Morris Inn!

Dined on two adjacent evenings, plus had a nightcap at the bar following the fireworks. Molly, our server on night #1, was pleasant and appropriately attentive. Our meals - a burger and the shrimp salad w/avocado & tomato were tasty. Chuck, the bartender, was great and kept the bar open just for us - much appreciated! Dinner night #2 was less enjoyable - our entrees -crab cakes, were excellent but they ran out of the wine my wife preferred (from the prior evening) and she had to settle for a replacement Chardonnay which wasn't up to par. That, coupled with the bright lights and the "way too numerous" flies that were a constant annoyance led to our hasty departure to another nearby restaurant for drinks and a much more enjoyable ambiance.
