The Red Chair Cafe
Wonderful open atmosphere in this space. It was comfortable and roomy.
Had some food glitches - one in our party had to wait for his order because it was overlooked...
Latte ordered tasted burnt and was o let half full in the cup when the foam diminished.
It was busy.
All of us in our party thought the food was extraordinarily great.
I had the traditional eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was perfection achieved.
Will go back again and recommend it to all.
My third time there and I don’t know if I’ll go back. I got the Benny special and the eggs were way over cooked, and the puff pastry was under cooked. It looked supper good but the execution was way off.
Always excellent- best grilled tuna and choco cookies in town.
Breakfast at The Red Chair was among the best we've ever had. Very creative take on a breakfast cake made of grits, crispy outside and nicely browned, with an unbelievable sauce and eggs on top. My son had caramel apple pancakes, also awesome. Everything was cooked perfectly and the coffee is also great. They've done a great job with the outdoor seating mandate, but there's not much they can do about street noise. Service is also outstanding.
Food was so delicious! Nice, chill atmosphere. Would recommend reserving a table to avoid long wait times.
Our server was inattentive and forgot half of our order. We waited about 45 mins. for our food. The food (once we got it) was excellent.
Very classy place to visit downtown Anchorage. I have been there three times and loved every plate I have tried. Combine that with great service and that is the place I love to go.
Service was very poor. Had a reservation but still a 40 minute wait on a Friday at lunchtime. We had 5 people. Server forgot to put in one persons order, and 3 items on 3 other people. She said sorry I forgot but no discounts given. We asked for refills but had to wait about 15 minutes. Food was not bad but would not go back. Next day we had lunch at Sun City Cafe and it was great! I recommend going there.
The Red Chair Cafe is always good - they are one of my two favorite breakfast spots in Anchorage! They have delicious food and the restaurant has a fun, funky atmosphere.
Not a single employee was wearing a mask during COVID-19 although it is mandated by the city.
Service was extremely slow and not very attentive. The food was okay, not worth what we paid.
The wait staff needs training on how to manage time and actually wait on customers. Everyone that worked there was so lazy! No one should wait 30 minutes to get water when they arrive. I was thirsty the entire time and she did not care to get anything we requested. The wait alone for food was ridiculous. Two members of our party had to leave because it took so long get our food and they had to get to work. She brought a whole meal that was not ordered and charged me for it along with forgetting part of my food order. Overall the rest of the staff did not look like they cared to help one another out or move faster than a turtle. Hire some more people and learn how to actually wait on people. I will never go back.
Each breakfast meal carried a variety of delicious tastes, we loved our meal!
The wait staff were kind and knowledgeable, yet seemed a bit stretched to cover the tables they were responsible for.
Other than that, five stars!
They have an interesting menu, food was good and the service was outstanding!
Always excellent surrounding and always amazing food. Breakfast is spectacular. Can not recommend this place enough!
First time at The Red Chair Cafe. Loved the Lemon Poppy Seed pancakes. Asked for real maple syrup and they had some. Our server was awesome.
Loved the food and the mimosas, service was great as well
Always a treat to dine at the Red Chair! The good never disappoints, and the service is always top notch.
So glad to have a great place for brunch open! The food was delicious and service was wonderful.
The grilled cheese was amazing!
They were working hard adjusting to new procedures
Mother’s Day was a lovely experience !
Nice atmosphere and good service. Food is very good also
We went to breakfast and we both ordered the traditional eggs benedict. It was wonderful. It came with their potatoes which is a mixture of regular potato, sweet potato and onions made like homefries. The waiter was very nice and we will be back!
Love it for lunch and breakfast but dinner menu is very limited and almost like the lunch menu.
We went to the Red Chair for brunch and the quality of food and the ambiance were somewhat typical of downtown Anchorage, not really good, but not really bad. Service was sketchy even though there was always at least two- three standing at the cashier stand. Food was bland and presentation, while acceptable, showed so creativity.
I like eating at this spot, the food is good, the atmosphere is good. They always seem just a bit unorganized and slow in their service. I appreciate that you can order breakfast and lunch during the day time. I have not tried their dinners.
I thought this was just a lunch spot but was pleasantly surprised with a delicious dinner complete with wonderful wine cocktails and decadent desserts. Live music and an art showing during our Saturday night dinner added to the ambience
The food was fantastic as always. The service was horrible. This was the busiest we have seen Red Chair and the service couldn't meet the needs. Our coffee and tea remained empty throughout the dining experience, even after we asked twice for refills. We asked for water and never got it. I asked for ketchup and also never received that.
The food was wonderful and plentiful. The sandwiches are big enough to share. The service is a bit too laid back for my taste. Our waiter was not very attentive, didn't get the order right, and in order to fix the order we had to attract the attention of another wait staff since ours "disappeared"
my first visit to this addition to the Anchorage restaurant scene...we were seated promptly, staff very friendly, wine selection nice and had a crisp white ... the brie plate was soooo good! my friends dinner was delicious, a chix salad wrap, but very difficult to eat...it was over the wrapper the plate our waitress had to wipe the table part way thru the meal...my guest was laughing thankfully...
I'll be back!
Really enjoyed this restaurant. It is in an old building at the edge of downtown. The ambiance is eclectic with all kinds of Art on the walls. This gives a fun atmosphere. The menu offers a good variety of dishes and specials. They also offer flatbread (pizza) selections as well as vegetarian selections. I ordered a pasta and shrimp dish which was just the right size for an entre. The dish was very good with a very good sauce.Another time I had the pork and it was also very good. The waiter was extremely helpful and assisted me in choosing a terrific wine (a Pinot from Germany) that met my tastes.i will go back again and I want to try their breakfast menu which they offer. The restaurant needs to advertise more so that more people know it
The waiters and waitresses were confused and very slow. The all seemed like novices with no manager to direct them in any way.
Best breakfast in town, hands down. I've had half the breakfast menu at this point and would highly recommend either take on Eggs Benedict or if you're in a "healthy" mindset the Kale Bake is excellent as well. Can't wait to try the dinner menu.
The Red Chair is the whole dinning package! Food, Wine, Service and Ambiance! Very exciting menu that covers your choices in a fresh neo experience. Well worth it. Don't make the mistake I did, the address it's 337 "East" 4th not "West". It's a short walk if you do.
Dinner at The Red Chair was disappointing, after great breakfasts and lunches there. The dinner menu was limited (only 6 entrees and 2 dessert choices). I had the spring mix salad, which was HUGE and an appetizer (spare ribs). The ribs were tender, but very fatty. Portions were generous. Service was outstanding (the waiter even helped one of our party figure out how to get to the calendar on her smart phone!).
We loved our brunch at The Red Chair Cafe. Food was delicious (and creative--I had lemon poppyseed pancakes!) and the environment was fresh and enjoyable.
When we arrived for our lunch, a business lunch that I had arranged, the restaurant was full. When I asked about our reservation the hostess replied "did you make it on Open Table" and I said yes. She said oh, I haven't had time to look at our reservations, so I won't have anything for at least 30 minutes. We left, very disappointing especially since I was with out of town business associates.
