The Pump House
Excellent choice for really good food and a nice atmosphere. A little pricey for everyday but a good value for special occasions. Will definitely be back the next time we visit Fairbanks.
A short drive out of downtown area and well worth it. Arrived early to enjoy a drink in the lively bar area. A huge dining area (little bit chilly if near door) and a large bar area. Lots of choice for food, large portions. My squash risotto with fish (think it was halibut) was fantastic. Ate here twice while in Fairbanks and both times did not disappoint.
The food was delicious and the service was very good.
My better half and I have always loved the Pumphouse for Sunday brunch and this time was no different. Though I did miss the fresh shrimp this time, the seafood salad was more than an adequate substitute! Our waiter was on the ball and kept our glasses full and the rest of the staff was there to clean the table almost before you finished your plate! We've always loved the Pumphouse and will be back again. Soon!
Great service, Alex was knowledgeable of the menu and was very friendly . Lots of options and really an amazing meal
Outstanding all around great food and historical setting,
The food was fantastic, and the environment was so friendly! We had been recommended this place, and now would gladly reccomend it to anyone looking for a nice restaurant for a date night!
The Elk meatloaf and Reindeer tenderloin were fabulous
The food was delicious. I was disappointed that my husband's pop was flat with no carbonation in it. The server was a foreigner and didn't know what we meant as we explained it, just said, "I just got it from the tap." We were also disappointed that the dinner meal didn't come with a salad. Food that we did have tasted delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful.
Very poor service very poor service very poor service very poor service very poor service very poor service. When asked what something was waitress didn’t know. Waitress didn’t come and check on us hardly at all. Waitress said it’s a fancy restaurant but I could make better mashed potatoes and I’m no chef. Crab was good but only came with a tiny amount of melted butter and since the waitress never checked on us we couldn’t ask for more.
We had a wonderful evening. Great food & service! Our waiter even told us the history of The Pump House.
We enjoyed the food and service. A bit pricey but overall a positive experience. :-)
Absolutely Fabulous tonight...
I have been going there for years mostly for special occasions and usually for Sunday brunch. I know the owner through business. It is one of the great quality and classy eating establishments in the Fairbanks area. Great customer service, which is not a norm in our area, is a standard here. The food has quality and is tasty with some innovative dishes. The salad bar alone is worth the trip.
If you leave this hungry or dissatisfied, it might be your own fault.
The Pump House has decent buffet brunch and great atmosphere. For reference; the food is just OK on a national scale, but is considered top tier for Fairbanks.
Very fun atmosphere inside with stuffed bears, dog sleds on the ceiling and more
Our food was served cold. I had requested my daughter's birthday be honored and it was not.
Requested the window by the river but didn’t get it even though it was empty. Other than that everything was perfect. Our waiter helped us before. I forgot to write a comment so that he could be recognized by his supervisor, but he was and is reliably great at his job.
Horrible experience and I have been here before ....worst service. Stuck up. Disrespectful. Rude. And flat out
The fish arrived cold as if it had been frozen and not cooked through.
The Pump House is a regular dining place for our family and friends always a great choice!
The brownie was delicious!! And our waitress was very attentive. I didn’t realize the salmon with stir fry was spicy. I didn’t like it, but my husband did.
This traditional Fairbanks restaurant was my top choice for the one night I could be back in Fairbanks, bringing my new husband to my beloved Alaska. It lived up to my expectations, and he loved it!
Food wasnt up to par, as it normally is. Steak was. early raw with a sear, must less than a medium rare should have been and the sauce for my cajun shrimp and rice tasted dirty, not inedible, but not as tasty as it should have been and had 0 spice. I expected a hint of heat at least if its cajun, we came from Louisiana and really miss good cajun food.
Great menu mix and solid attentive service. Scallops are a winner
Good wait staff and solid food in a historic setting on the Chena river
Sunday brunch at the Pump House is a MUST. They have such a large selection of foods. I have yet to try something that doesn't taste amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to a friend!
The first time we came, we were just "walk-ins" without reservations. We were told it would be an hour wait unless we wanted the bar. We managed to find spots in the bar and the service was great, food was wonderful and the atmosphere really nice. This time, we made reservations thinking it would be even better. The waitress took well over ten to fifteen minutes just to come to our table, service was far and few between with both of us waiting long periods of time without drinks. Interestingly, it seemed much more busy, rushed and loud, yet it seemed much less busy than our first visit. The food was good and the ambience was okay, but the service/noise/ambience in the bar area was way superior. Plus it seemed more relaxed and less rushing/running around from staff. I think we won't do reservations again but rather stick with the bar side.
Great food. Our table was ready when we got there (had reservations). Great brunch selection for the whole family.
Sunday brunch is one of our favourite treats! Definitely the best one in town!
We were visiting Alaska for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Booked the Pump House for dinner. It looked amazing and welcoming however, the waiter was very rude and had no people skills. He told us what we should order and we would not be able to eat.
He scolded us saying he hates when people waste food when we didn't want to finish the overcooked and under-seasoned smoked salmon. He wouldn't make any adjustments to our appetizer (we wanted cooked oysters instead of raw).
We ordered the mix grill to share and received some kind of steak with broccoli and sweet potato. All of which were bland. All together we had 2 drinks, the seafood sample, and the "mix grill" for over $100. We will not be returning to the Pump House and we've shared the sad experience with our friends and family.
Great service & excellent food !
All our salmon dishes were very tasty and cooked perfectly. I also love the steamed garlic clam and deer sausage.
I had been to the Pump House 24 years earlier and enjoyed the best Halibut ever. I returned yesterday and enjoyed an excellent halibut again. It has remained one of the best restaurants in Fairbanks. Go. You will not be disappointed. Larry
The food was fresh and flavorful. We had 4 in our party and we all ordered something different. We all said it was the best meal we have had on the land portion of our vacation in Alaska. The Crab Mac and Cheese appetizer is a must get!
Nice place. Huge portions, so split an entree. Rustic feel, busy place, make a reservation. Our server wasn’t having a good day, but good place nonetheless.
Milan was our waiter and he was amazing. The food was top notch as always and I always recommend this restaurant to others.
This was the first time I have been to the Pump House. It was more than I expected. The atmosphere was great. The wait staff was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. This is the best service I have had in my overall experience in Fairbanks dining. Our meals were outstanding, beautifully presented and more tasty than I expected. My overall experience was 10 out of 10!! Best restaurant in Fairbanks.
We’ve visited Fairbanks several times. And we’ll eat here everyday. Great food, cold beer and amazing desserts. Jenna is an wonderful server and made our visit a fun experience
Great brunch is the best deal of the week! There’s a great variety of breakfast, lunch, fruit and desserts! Definitely save room for dessert!
