The Pump House
The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and our waiter was amazingly awesome.
The Pump House continues to deliver an excellent meal (especially seafood) in a unique Alaskan themed setting!!
Celebrating being in Alaska on Vacation. Used a gift certificate one night that our daughters gave us and it was so good came back the next night.
Being from Chicago, I have had Mt share of amazing dinners. The food here was outstanding!! Had the Reindeer meatballs for starters, cooked perfectly, slight hint of the field but the blue cheese mellows any gameness. The Halibut special was out of this world!!!! Lightly crusted and perfectly moist in the center. The crab/lobster sauce had a slight spiciness that complemented the subtle halibut texture. Lastly the risotto!!! I’m not a big carb person, but after one bite, I cleared out ALL the risotto. And the best part of my night was my server!! Mika!!!!! One of the nicest, warmest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Interesting decor inside and beautiful outdoor venue when the weather is right. The food was ‘priced for Alaska’ but all was enjoyable, as were the cocktails. We had ‘fish tots’, king crab and crab Cobb salad plus peanut butter pie. Yummy desserts.
The food was fantastic. So many great seafood dishes. Each of us got something different and everything was outstanding. Was in Alaska for about 3 weeks and it was by far the best halibut we had. The salmon and risotto was also good. And of course we had the king crab legs. They were good as well. Good service and wonderful atmosphere!
I would definitely recommend The Pump House. I had to give it a bit of a lower rating for the food, because my husband’s fish was dry and quite overlooked for him. He doesn’t like to complain, so he ate it, and so don’t know what they would have done if we complained... My halibut was amazing! It was the special of the day, a large, thick piece, a bit over cooked, but delicious. The sides were great and I loved it.
Dessert was also amazing! Deep dish apple pie with caramel ice cream!!!! Yummy!! Spencer, our bus driver, recommended this place. A very expensive taxi ride, $30. each way..... worth it!!
Loved the old building and the upside down dog sled!!
All in all it was ok. The issue we had was that the waiter forgot to place our order so it took an hour to get our main course. He was very apologetic, and comped us all some chowder but...
Always the best food, service, and environment. I take all my guests that come to visit Alaska here. It’s been a consistent place to eat for many years and I highly recommend The Pump House!!
Our server was Patrick and he was amazing! The food of course was absolutely wonderful!
Great place to eat in Fairbanks
The view and the food were both excellent
As always, we enjoyed our experience! Fabulous food and service! Thank you!!
We remember the Pump House from 40 years ago when we lived in Fairbanks. It was a comforting place with exceptional food - a variety of soups and salads as well as butterflied prawns that were as big an your hand and tasted great. The former glory has faded, and it appears this is more of a tourist destination than a fine dining establishment. The waterfront and historical setting is nice, but the food was average at best. We were unable to sit in the main dining room, being told that the management decided earlier that day to accommodate a tour bus of 60 that would take up all of the available tables. We were relegated to the enclosed outside dining area which was not as comfortable. Perhaps a nice place for a snack and a drink on a sunny day. If you're after fine dining, look elsewhere.
Lovely setting, friendly staff. Overpriced a bit. Son’s steak was over cooked a bit, my mixed grill was fine at Med rare but could have had larger portions for price. Appetizer was v good - crab & shrimp croquettes but called something diff. Our server had too many tables & so slow in getting desserts & check. Desserts were delicious & large servings.
Great food and ambiance. A little more space between tables would be great, but overall wonderful. Scenic location on the river beautiful as well.
Great food great service the desserts are awesome all you can drinks orange juice and coffee
My favorite place for breakfast on Subday The pumphouse if you have opportunity to visit make a reservation today to enjoy the Signature brunch its the best in town.
It is the perfect place to go for a special meal. Every time we visit Fairbanks we stop and eat there at some point. This last tome it was our last meal before we left.
Food was great! The place is massive and seating is a bit disjointed and confusing. Service was spotty but thinking that’s just alaska
We had the halibut special, oysters and king crab leg. The food and service as excellent. The reservation through open table worked great as always (and was necessary).
Everyone should come at least once to say they did, but the food is cold. The desserts are good. The service was amazing.
Loved the bacon wrapped scallops.... I would try to eat outdoors if the weather permits.
Great food, good service. Overall a great experience. We even ate there a second time on our trip.
Amazing food and service. One of the best fish meals I have ever had in the state of Alaska.
This was the last night of our first Alaska vacation and what a great dinner to close out an excellent trip. Our server Patrick was very helpful and knowledgeable with recommendations and wine selections. The food was very fresh and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit.
Food came out cold. I wasn’t able to use my Open Table Rewards Card, which is why I made the reservation to begin with. A bit disappointed. We dine here yearly.
This place was great. Food was a little expensive but it really is everywhere in Alaska.
We love the character, size and atmosphere of the restaurant. We ate two nights in a row and the food and service fantastic both nights.
Busy place. Special, fresh Halibut very dry.
Dan was a great waiter Food was good and I love the atmosphere
A little disappointed our favorite table was unavailable Our server was great.
We had a great time dining here! We loved trying a bunch of the menu items especially the crab legs!
Best place in Fairbanks
Food (steak) came cold. Like nearly fridge cold. King crab leg was still frozen.
Mildly pricey, but pleased with portion size. Limited beer on tap options, but lovely deck seating option on Chena River. Come prepared for breeze.
Patrick our waiter was superb!
Our server, Nika was outstanding. Reindeer medallions were very good. Excellent seafood and salad too. Overall experience was outstanding.
The food was excellent and the server was kind, patient and very knowledgeable about the food and answered every question that we had. The drinks were really good too. Instead of a desert menu they have a physical tray of goodies that they bring to the table. Will definitely be going back for our anniversary.
The PumpHouse is in a lovely setting on the River. We both chose the salmon and even though we asked for it to be cooked medium, it was over done. It was served with over cooked broccolini and a high mound of lukewarm mediocre mashed potatoes. Overall, not an impressive meal. It was hard to catch our server’s attention. Still, a lovely setting. Perhaps we caught them on an off night, as we had several people recommend them.
