We had a $50 coupon that my husband received for his birthday, and we had a gift card, so dinner was, for all intents and purposes, free. But it was really delicious. I had Chesapeake Bay rockfish, a baked sweet potato, and asparagus with hollandaise. My husband had a prime rib steak and creamed spinach. We both shared a lovely bottle of Justin cabernet from Paso Robles (where we had visited the winery a few years ago). It's a special occasion kind of place, but well worth it.
I have been going to the Prime Rib for years but hadn’t been in a long time. I was disappointed that so many patrons were so badly dressed, including a couple at the bar in jeans! Given the prices, you’d think people would treat a meal there with a bit more finesse. The food is. Sry tasty, though, though the portions are enormous!
One of my best experiences ever. Our waiter was Edward McCormick and he was outstanding..we had a 9 year old with us and Edward was extremely kind to our little boy...
The dining experience was wonderful. Our waiter was not as attentive as I have had in the past. I understand that he had a table of twelve that he was serving next to us. Support for him would have been appreciated
I really like the relaxed atmosphere, the food was excellent as usual and our waiter very nice and attentive.
This is our third visit here. To be fair, the other two visits exceeded expectations.
From drink & appetizer to dinner & dessert, everything was perfect on our two previous visits. This Saturday we went with 6 people for my daughter's birthday. Server was attentive initially. Table was ready. Salads were great. Lobster bisque was congelled and cold. The main entrees were not even average. They were not good. 4 Prime Ribs, only one wasn't overcooked. Ordered MR and they were well done like shoe leather, no pink and almost no au jus. You could tell they we prepared on a different day and reheated. One of the prime ribs was perfectly cooked but not fresh. They did offer to exchange them. They removed one from the bill. I do not care about the cost, if I did we would not have gone there. I expect that the food will be prepared correctly the first time. There server never should have even brought them to the table. They also brought the dinner side out with the appetizers by accident as well. I asked for a special dessert for my daughter, the waiter obliged and brought it over buy never offered anyone else at the table dessert. After he dropped hers mousse cake with a candle, we sang Happy birthday (he did not participate) and brought the bill. They were definitely off their game. Not anywhere close to our previous experiences at this establishment. Disappointed.
My wife and I give our adult children the gift of fine dining and try to introduce them to a long standing Baltimore Restaurant that they don’t know exist. This year it was The Prime Rib and they did not disappoint. Every one of our appetizers and mains were excellent and the kids were raving about the presentation and quality of the food. Service was also first class. The only reason I rated value as a 4 instead of 5 is that this is a very expensive restaurant but we absolutely got what we paid for and I would do it again. The Prime Rib remains the best restaurant for old school fine dining in Baltimore.
Food and service were excellent; however, tables are very close together so you feel cramped with difficulty walking between tables. Had my arm bumped numerous times by passing waiters. Noise can also be elevated. While we both thoroughly enjoyed our main course selections, we were disappointed with the clams casino appetizer. The clams were very tiny and certainly did not warrant $18.00. Bread pudding dessert was terrific!
It’s a little tight in the dining room and we were sitting next to where the wait staff kept their trays. Overall I really enjoyed the experience. The staff was over the top friendly. If I make reservations again I will ask to not be seated next to the tray area.
Service great Food perfect every time. Love this restaurant. Expect to drop a few bills per person. But it is worth it.
It was lovely. I was not that impressed with the renovations and my leather chair was ripped and threadbare—not what I expect with a $250 meal. Not sure what else was needed but for a basic steak dinner the price was pretty ridiculous. We can afford meals like this but we probably would go elsewhere in the future. Felt like it was resting on past laurels and needs updating in menu selections.
We went for the band, which was stupendous — but were happily surprised by the food. Yes, expensive — but also very good. Try the Imperial crab and the caesar salad!
Very romantic and intimate setting . Servers and waiters prompt. Good drinks. Nice and strong.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Highly recommend restaurant for a special occasion.
Fantastic food elegance
The food was outstanding as always. The service was impeccable . Have been going for years and have never had a complaint. We’re looking forward to going back soon!
Valentine’s Day dinner
Outstanding meal. The strip steak was tender, flavorful, and delicious with a crisp outside. The artichoke hearts were surprisingly good, even wonderful. The dark chocolate ice cream was a dream. Service was impeccable. Last but not least, Jeff Wilson on the piano provided a perfect musical complement to the meal. The Prime Rib is in a class by itself, and we had a terrific time.
this is a wonderful place to take your loved one the atmosphere was great staff wonderful this was me and my wife's second time going there and we love it👍👍👍👍👍
The Prime Rib is not just for beef although their prime rib is outstanding! Seafood and lamb are likewise great choices. This restaurant is just simply one of if not the finest restaurant in the region.
Food was phenomenal. Worst service I've ever experienced at this restaurant but got much better once meal was served Almost 2 hours later. Good thing I enjoyed the company . Obviously waiter more attentive around tip time. Took 45 minutes just to be handed the menu. Nevertheless, the food is best bar none in town and I can't wait to return!!
Great everything! I’ve never known anyone who said they had anything less than a great meal at the Prime Rib!
Our “go to” place for special occasions
Great service and atmosphere. Wonderful food! Our meals were perfect! So nice to have a wait staff that truly is there to serve and enjoys their profession! Makes such a huge difference to the dining experience
I don’t eat beef often, but when I do, I want the best. Prime Rib is it! Top notch food, gracious setting, friendly service. I’ll be back, even though it will only be twice a year.
Could not award 5 Stars because Prime Rib knew we had a show to catch when the reservation was made, and they nicely acknowledged that fact when we were seated. Then it all fell apart as we waited and waited for a steak and a salad. Well longer than any reasonable person would expect.
The anxiousness of waiting so long and being late for our show detracted from our enjoyment of the meal. To their credit the staff apologized and tried to make amends in a courteous manner. We would return and hopefully our experience will be perfect next time
Old school ambience and service. Good and drink superb
Always consistently good experience
I have been to The Prime Rib several times and have always enjoyed my experience. Shared many memories there with family and friends. Overall everything was excellent! My only disappointment was our table seating. I had requested a nice table for two as it was my husband's birthday and we were recently married a month ago. When we arrived they sat us at a combo table where we were nearly sitting next to another couple. I did not say anything as I did not want to make things awkward since the other couple was directly in hearing distance.
We have been many times to the Prime Rib, but on this occasion, it was not up to its usual excellence. Maybe it was the weather (snow storm), but we felt incredibly rushed and the food was not as it usually is. We told the women when she called to confirm that it was a birthday, but there was no acknowledgment. The sundae for dessert was nothing special. Well go back but the need to be consistent.
Met an old friend for dinner and appreciated the ability to hold a conversation and linger over coffee. They do steak well but everything is expensive and if you're looking for cutting edge dining, keep looking. If you want to recapture the true "dining" experience of white tablecloth, respectful yet warm service, high end atmosphere with solid food, this is your place. It's a dying breed so enjoy it while you can.
Great as always.
Nice traditional steak house. Good place for a special occasion.
The food here may be a little old-fashioned (like the decor, but we love it!), but everything is is excellent. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and Escargot to start, Lobster Bisque and Roasted Tomato soups, 3 different salads, one full cut Prime Rib and one signature cut, Prime Rib Steak and the chopped steak (world's best burger), plus various sides. My only (minor) complaint was the wine recommendation, I asked for a full-bodied red and received the Grgich Hills Cab - very smooth but way too mild in the flavor department. Would not recommend that wine, especially for $120 a bottle. Everything else was great! This is my husband's favorite restaurant, so we always come here for his birthday, and it never disappoints.
A friend and I took another friend out to celebrate her 90th birthday. The Prime Rib is the kind of place to take someone to mark a special occasion. The food is consistently delicious and the service impeccable. Prices are steep but I always leave with enough for another meal so that is a bonus!
It is always a wonderful time when we eat at the Prime Rib. We celebrated my birthday there - the best service and always delicious food. Great place!
Excellent service, excellent food - all around great night! Our server, Bob, was top notch!
Always superb in every way
Great food and service
I was told they were apart of restaurant week but once we arrived, I was told they weren’t. That was a huge issue for me. The waiter was nice and helpful but I don’t let to be lied to.
