All four of us were happy with our lunch.
Great food and amazing service!
Very convenient place to have breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks if staying at the Omni in Charlottesville. Food is good and service is excellent.
We thought the swordfish was cooked well and served with a medley of vegetables. We had a difficult time finding the restaurant. It was located in the Omni.
Nice socially distanced dinner. The service and food were good. The tables were spaced apart, and all waitstaff were wearing masks.
Excellent food. We had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and green beans. The salad was great too. Got there late so had to be put in the "overflow room." I think regular dining room probably had more ambience. Most important thing to me at a restaurant is the food, and theirs was excellent.
In the past we have enjoyed delicious food at the Omni. This past Friday was mostly a disappointment.
First of all, we were seated in a small room with no windows, but it did have all the unused setup for breakfast. Not great ambiance.
The crab cake appetizer was delicious. We were off to a great start. And then our entrees -- not great.
My husband had chicken with red beans - or some sort of beans. The chicken leg was dry and stringy, while the thigh was fine. He wasn't impressed, but he ate the beans and thigh and said they were fine.
My salad was a disaster - something I might find at Denny's for not much money.
It was an avocado southwestern style chicken salad. The greens were saturated in a very spicy salad dressing, which could have been good if they had not been saturated, which made it too spicy. The salad had just a bit of avocado.
We have enjoyed meals at the Omni, and we enjoy the hotel, so I'm not sure what I would recommend. I'd just be honest as I was with this review.
We almost always have a late night drink at the bar after a show, and we think the bartender is excellent. Very friendly and professional.
It was Valentine's Day, and we weren't interested in a eating a large meal, so we opted out of the special. Maybe that had something to do with the disappointing meal from the menu.
I bit pricey, but a good atmosphere. It is somewhat annoying with so many people walking through the restaurant to get to the closest exit door to the Downtown Mall...
Buffet looked a little sad by time we ate at 1300 hours, but the menu service was excellent. best cornbeff i've had in a long time. Courtesy birthday creme-brulet was a big hit! Service superior! Ambience a welcome change from noisy restaurants that seem to proliferate the area!
Quiet ambience snd excellent service were matvhed by food. Returned next day for lunch.
Live in Charlottesville and look
Forward to dining here more.
We planned a last minute trip for Thanksgiving. Dinner options for Thanksgiving night were limited at our time of booking, but we stumbled upon this place. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the food was subpar. In my opinion, a bit overpriced.
Food was the highlight. We were seated late for our reservation and the server was not attentive, but the prime rib was exceptional
We were staying at the Omni, wanted the convenience, and the hotel restaurant looked pretty good. Also, we had had brunch there years ago. Dinner turned out to be very fine. First, the cocktail menu is a dozen pages or so, designed to help you choose your drink by flavor category. It is helpfully set up as a grid with the base spirit first, followed by the other ingredients. The ones we tried were delicious. The dinner menu is brief but done well. I was able to get shrimp & grits without the meat. Only complaint is that there is only one fish main course (there is a salmon salad) and no catch of the day. The wine list has a number of Virginia wines, both more and less well known. The Pointe is set in a spacious atrium open to seven stories, and was sparsely populated when we were there, so very quiet, a rarity these days. Our server was courteous, professional, and timely.
Meal was quite nice. Service was good- not overly attentive.
Very nice meal here at the Pointe Restaurant in the Omni Hotel where we are staying in Charlottesville. Crab cake and Virginia Trout entrees were very tasty and excellent value. Would do this again and also recommend to others.
Great service!
Our meals were good. My daughter especially liked the hummus bowl. She said everything in it was delicious. My other daughter and I had the salmon salad which we both thought was rather plain. I think the greens could have been varied instead of just romaine lettuce. The dressing would have been better as a vinaigrette instead of the creamy avocado, and the salmon was good but plain. The dish was good but could have been better. Service was great and we appreciated not having to go out in the bad storm for our dinner.
Terrible service. We were the only people in the restaurant and the two people who did not order the buffet ended up waiting 49 min for entrees. Not ok. Waiter was rude and dismissive. It took 3 requests to get coffee refilled - and we were very gracious and kind in our requests. Will never eat here again.
Overpriced, fixed price menu for graduation weekend. This was not revealed at time reservation was made, only one day prior,so absolutely no possibility of making a change for our party of 8. Could only choose from 3 entrees, one being vegan( and not liked by the 2 who had to order it) so only 2 meat choices. Very disappointing. Wait staff was good. Normal menu is probably worth trying, but we aren't going back.
We had dinner here after my sons’s graduation from UVA. Food was outstanding, as was the service. Highly, highly recommend!
Limited menu they did not advertise due to graduation weekend. The restaurant was only half filled and still out service was incredibly slow - even a super long wait just to get the check so we could get out of there. You would think with a limited menu the food would come out quickly - nope. Not many choices for teenage boys. Would not go back.
WE went at 4 pm and they still served the lunch menu which was great for us. Not too heavy not too expensive. Good service we had a table of 8 after UVa grdauation. The food, fancy sandwiches, crab bisque, burgers, pulled pork, appetizers, were all well prepared and large portions. very pleasant setting. Airy, quiet, cool on a hot day, our party was pleased.
We sat outside on the patio for lunch and our waiter was great and four of us ordered a la carte and two had the lunch buffet. Our table overlooked the downtown mall and it was nice. For a hotel restaurant this is really every good, nicely run, and well-located to avoid the crowds of graduation. I would not make my way here on a tour of Charlottesville, but if you are staying at the hotel or in town for an event, this makes a great breakfast or lunch spot.
Great food and even better service!
The restaurant was lovely, but the food was cold. Not just not warm, actually cold. And clearly had been sitting out most of the day so that the chicken and pork were dry. (We had an afternoon seating). Service was pretty bad considering all they had to do was bring drinks - I asked for coffee, but no cream or sweeteners came with it. The freshly made food (omelette and crepe) which people had in our party was apparently good. The desserts were amazing. But $52 for carrot cake was a bit much.
I have been this hotel restaurant many times for meetings, but never dinner. A relaxed evening with great food (large) servings, very good wine and great service which we enjoyed. The food next day at my meeting? Very good - cup of soup, variety of salads, and small but yummy tastes of dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed - would recommend.
Absolutely delicious scallops...very clean restaurant... beautiful hotel...waitress on 3/2/19, 6:00 p.m. said that she does not usually work in the restaurant but I think she should - she was great!!!
Upscale hotel setting. Pleasant atmosphere with good food. Wine and food are a little pricey
The Christmas buffet was very good. There was a wide assortment of food in abundance. The complimentary champagne was a nice touch. The desserts were just OK. The sweet potato pie was disappointing. Service was nice. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us.
We had a bad experience, We waited, until my daughter got up and got us some drinks.
Its thanksgiving, Finally got our orders in, with in some time they brought us two orders that was not ours. to find out the table across the way. that they eventually got it after we got ours. Not sure what occurred there. We finally get our meal, its was good. I was missing my vegetables and my cranberries. I asked for them got my vegies but never got my cranberries. During our dinner, one of the waiters came down the two step stairs in a hurry carring salads and dressings for someone, he dumped one of the dressings all around my wife. took them 15 mins before someone attempted to clean it up. For what we paid for this it was a mess, I contained myself, because I had my wife and daughter with me.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. We were from out of town and other restaurant serving the thanksgiving fare were all booked.
The Pointe was horrible. There was a long line of people even though there was hardly anyone there. We had a reservation but they couldn’t sit us and told us to wait in a cold waiting area. We told them we’d wait in the bar, and they never came to find us.
We got a slab of dry turkey which was horrible. Cranberry sauce didn’t taste like cranberry sauce, they should have just bought the Libby’s canned cranberries.
Never again.
Not enough watlit staff for the number of Thanksgiving reservations
I don't mind a pretentious place when the food is good. That was not the case this time. We went on Thanksgiving and even the stuffing was disappointing. Further, the service, while friendly, was nothing to write home about. It took a long time to get a drink, our food order was incorrect, and we had to call for the bill. Pretty disappointing.
The food was good, and the service was excellent. Padric was attentive (but not too much so) and we had a great dinner experience.
Great variety of oysters and they were amazing! One of our best meals in Charlottesville!
Food bland. Nothing special.
Our server made our night interesting and most memorable!
Food was amazing and the service was even better!
Outside dining is nice.
Food was mediocre at best. We got the vegetable ravioli which was overdone, hard and dry.
We also had the macaroni and cheese and the potatoes au gratin. The macaroni was bland and the potatoes were hard.
On the good side, our server was great and the manager came over and introduced himself. Unfortunately we did not see the manager again or we would have told him about the food.
Hidden gem for sure, incredible food that is also innovative and pretty!
