About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
  • Great for outdoor dining
Nestled among the beautiful orchards and rolling fields of the Kentish countryside, close to the famous All Saints church with the Marc Chagall windows, The Poacher and Partridge is now a stunning country pub with dining. Offering seasonal cuisine, tantalizing tapas, sensational ales, and if wine is more your thing there will be an extensive selection direct from the barrel.
Enjoy a unique style of dining with our beautiful wood fired oven where gorgeous pizzas and steaks are cooked by our fabulous chefs'. Outside there is also a glorious beer garden with great views across meadows and if that's not enough there will also be a lovely kiddies play area and an outside bar and grill opening in March 2015.

We had our office Christmas party and everyone loved the place and the food. However the people who picked salmon for their starters suggested that it would have tasted better if it were thinly sliced it was a bit rubbery due to its thickness.....other than that it was a good afternoon.

Met family here a couple of weeks before Christmas. The pub was busy but the staff were outstanding in carrying out service quickly and efficiently. I enjoyed the seafood linguine and the roasts were great too. Very enjoyable lunch.

Had a lovely meal with our friends but the mussels dish was only ok and the kids burger for my 12 year old son looked like a canapé - taste was delicious but was shocked by the size of it... Decorations and service was very good.

We had a family table for six for a Birthday celebration, four adults two boys, age 8. We have been to the Poacher and Partridge previously. Again we had a good time with our family, spoilt again by the mediocre food certainally not worth £140. Things that could be improved: No visible disabled parking bays. Mussels fair quantity of shells, but only one mollusc was mature and tasty, all the rest needed another year in the sea to grow, not worth eating. Garlic bread, not good, swamped with brown caramelised onion sauce, nasty. Bread pudding, cheap frozen item, no saltanas. Two chocolate brownies, not edible, dry as a bone, (mentioned to waitress). Sticky toffee pudding, boring item out of a discount store packet. Ghastly experience leaving the restaurant by the front door, the porch was stacked out with disgusting smokers, recommend take a gas mask. Overall, it’s a nice enough restaurant setting, spoilt by the food.

We had been here before, and had liked it. We thought the cuisine has now gone down-market, though the prices haven’t . Our waitress did the perfunctory “All ok with your meal?” but didn’t wait for an answer. As it happens, the game pie was rather salty and the apple, quince and cranberry crumble scorched on top. So, a disappointing experience.

We've never had a bad meal here and on our last visit the food was outstanding. Service is also always excellent. Highly recommended

Visited for the first time after lots of recommendations. Was not disappointed! Lovely food, really good service! Amazing mulled wine - the best i’ve had! The place itself was beautiful with a few different seating areas for different moods and I think it will be lovely in the summer too for drinks in the garden! Definitely coming back! Can’t wait

The quality of the food was excellent. They were happy to adapt my dish as I am sensitive to one of the ingredients.
