From the OpenTable editors: Open since 1952, South Bay’s pioneering The Plumed Horse is a fine-dining destination for its California-inspired tasting menus. At the MICHELIN-Starred stunner with a nearly 20,000-bottle wine cellar and fireside lounge, chef Peter Armellino dazzles with dishes like black pepper-parmesan soufflé with uni and blue crab fondue. Taken just as seriously as the food, the award-winning sommeliers and bartenders craft exquisite pairings to level it all up even more.

The decor was really pretty and fancy. The saff was attentive and friendly adding to the experience, however they were constantly trying to upcharge and sell us more which was very annoying as they do it the whole night constantly even interrupting our conversation just to give us an add about their black truffles or something. I also didn't like that they randomly gave us a crab sauce souffle when we didn't ask for one, then charged us for it that's crazy. Unfortunately the food portions were really small leaving me hungry after 4 courses and most of the dishes grossed my fiancee and I out. They simply don't cook meet all the way, (my steak, salmon, and halibut) for example when I ordered my steak well done the waiter started arguing with me to get it medium rare, which was so rude. If you're not used to eating your food undercooked this way you'll leave with a stomach ache like we had. Additionally all of the glassware had a sharp distinct wet-dog smell, that (from experience) I know comes from using old damp sponges to clean the dishes. Every bite of food or sip of water was tainted with this smell and really killed the fancy vibe they were going for I would look elsewhere this dinner kind of ruined a really important night that I wanted to remember fondly. 2 stars for the friendly staff and the soft bread muffins which were the only things we really liked

We had a wonderful dining experience at Plumed Horse. Our party had the four-course prix-fixe dinner and the waitstaff was very attentive throughout. Every dish was delicious. All of us had the souffle for Course 2 which was absolutely spectacular. The entrees we had were the Pork Chop, Halibut and Rib Eye. Again, all were outstanding. Two of our party were celebrating a wedding anniversary, for which we received a complimentary round of champagne with Course 4 (dessert). This was greatly appreciated. I can’t think of any way the experience could have been better. Yes, I only gave it a Very Good for value (it IS expensive, but the quality justifies that) and noted that the noise level was moderate (it was quiet by the end of our dinner). We hope to dine here again to celebrate the next life "milestone" we encounter.

Great service, cocktails, and beautiful space. The royal soufflé is a creamy delight but I’d skip the chicken milanese. Pet peeve: we weren’t offered an option for regular tap water?? Overall, an exquisite experience.

Had 4 course menu. Appetizers and Entrees were great. Pork chop, ribeye and softest chicken that I ever had. However dessert was not at the same level as entrees. Have to mention two things that resulted in negative stars. One - a supplement was added without our consent. Two - regular tap water was charged at $9

We celebrated a birthday at Plumed Horse and had a wonderful evening. The food was exquisite, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. The carrot cake, shaped like real carrots, was yummy! Every detail made the night feel special, from the ambiance to the thoughtful touches. A perfect spot for a celebration—we’ll definitely be back!

We had a great time here, the service and food was great. The presentation was good on all dishes and we were excited to try the variety that the Plumed Horse had to offer. We did notice some light fixtures not working which was pretty surprising with how much this cost.. I’d hope they fix those soon!

We had a memorable anniversary dinner at The Plumed Horse in Saratoga. This Michelin-starred restaurant completely lived up to and exceeded our expectations. We asked for a quiet space for our dinner and were unexpectedly provided a private room where we were treated royally by Jeff Persisho who is also sommelier in this beautiful restaurant. The restaurant provides a kind of California kaiseki experience with a prix fixe four course menu or a multi-course tasting menu that changes frequently. Everything on the menu was delightful from the imaginative and delicious hors d'oeuvres, to the incredible souffle and truffled agnolotti first courses, halibut and aged ribeye second courses and the fabulous desserts. The restaurant regaled us with all the desserts on the menu to celebrate our anniversary. Chef Peter Armellino visited us for an extended, delightful conversation about his culinary philosophy and his fascinating history. He clearly has many fans and cherished patrons who visit the restaurant often. The servers and employees obviously love working here, one of whom had been at the restaurant for 40 years. Yes, this is a high-end restaurant with all that implies, but the experience was unforgettable. We thank Peter, Jeffrey and the staff for a wonderful evening, and recommend the Plumed Horse as a place well worth making a special trip--even a considerable one.

Wonderful service and dining experience — definitely one of the top three Michelin one-star restaurants I’ve been to. My wife and I went last night to celebrate her birthday, and we truly appreciate the special hospitality. We’ll definitely be back.
