Noah was an amazing Waiter we had multiple helpers and support servers The food was excellent fresh you could cut the steak with a spoon! The ahi was fresh Butter lettuce salads were amazing bread was great With the special honey butter salt. A+
Was so thankful that the hostess saved our table. Our hotel shuttle was late. The view from there is always stunning. We were there one of the last nights before they close for renovations so there were signs of work already being done but it didn’t change the quality of food, nor the beauty of the sunset, the wonderful service or the sweet music. Always a special dining experience whether breakfast or dinner. (We’ve never dined there for lunch.)
We spent our anniversary at the Plantation and the evening couldn’t have been nicer. The food was delicious, service very good and the views stunning. We were given a lovely glass of sparkling wine to toast with and were lucky enough to be there on a Wednesday night, which offers several bottles of 1/2 price wines.
This was the perfect setting for a romantic evening.
I wish we had known they were closing for a major overhaul in less than a week. There was construction debris in he parking lot, they were replacing windows and our view was obstructed by some metal pipes sticking up in the window areas. The restUrNt was like a ghost town. I’d estimate 20% of the tables were taken. When we got there at 6:15 there were two other couples eating, that’s it. My meal, for almost $50 was so-so.
They also have a 3% surcharge for the kitchen staff. I have never seen that before.
Not sure why the place was so empty. How did people know they were closing? I felt like I was eating at the hotel in the Shining.
They have a beautiful view. I hope they get the place cleaned up and get the restaurant humming again.
Beautiful date night spot! Great food & service. We ordered fish, steak, and wine and were pleased with them all. Would definitely recommend.
I know you’re shutting down, but still could server good food , just close it down
Excellent food, service and location. All of us loved our meal and they made our birthday celebration wonderful. Will definitely go back our next time in Maui.
Great place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or any other special occasion. Excellent service and exquisite food!
Nice ambiance except for having to pass by renovation in progress. Nice maitre’d and server. One of my side orders was forgotten but waiter was gracious to not charge for it. I’d try it again another time.
Very nice place, although somewhat in the middle of a remodel (1 side) it did not take away from the atmosphere
Service or delicious food. Would definitely go again.
If the sun has gone down, the restaurant isn’t worth the trip because there is no view. It’s priced based on the views so with no views you will grossly overpay. The wait staff were nice and accommodating. The food was so-so but when compared with the price is seemed egregious. Again, it’s priced based on the view.
Went to a few nice restaurants in Maui during our stay and this was our favorite! Great food, great view and not too over priced!
Great view. When I went they are under construction but the sunset view is still amazing. It over looks the ocean and a golf course.
Food was great and sunset view is first class.
I was really looking forward to going back to one of our favorite restaurants on the island. This was our 35th wedding anniversary
And I thought what better place to go. We have been at least 10 times over the past 12 years of traveling to Maui. First of all we didn’t realize the construction that was taking place both at the restaurant and the golf course that the restaurant sits on. They started construction in the winter this year and will continue thru until Late fall 2019. Golf course has been fully closed this whole time. Probably the restaurant should have also closed also 😞
Upon arrival the greeter gave us a window seat looking east. The restaurant has very large windows looking out towards the ocean which is south so depending on what type of window seat you get you can have a magnificent view. We arrived there by 6:00pm the restaurant was 1/2 empty, 1/2 the window seats were available for seating. Yet this greeter sat us in the very back left hand side of the restaurant at a table for 2 that had the chairs set up in a very funky way. My seat faced east looking out the side my husbands to the left of me faced south so we were not on opposite sides of the table and the worst part is the window had a divider in it which was at your eye level, “ so Literally I was looking at a piece of wood” the bus boy came by with water and I told him this table was awful. He said they shouldn’t even seat people here unless it’s absolutely necessary, Anyway he told the greeter who sat Us there and she came back with an indignant look on her face saying that she could move us but just to let us know that the waitress already had a table of 7 and 2 tables of 3 so our service could suffer. I looked at her and said please change our table, “ We will take the chance “ Anyway, great table, great food, great server, Shame on the greeter who needs to get another job.
Amazing food, outstanding customer service and stunning views. I’ll definitely be back and will recommend this place to friends. I had the steak with a side of Mac and cheese and it was perfect!
The food and wine were delicious, the views were stunning, and our waiter, Noah, was both kind and extremely helpful.
If you go to one restaurant whilst here in Lahaina, you must go to the plantation house. Our waiter, Noah was fantastic, and showed an interest in our travels as well as being very knowledgable about the food being served. My partner and I had the shrimp and sushi to start, mahi mahi and fillet for mains, and pineapple cake for dessert. Not a single complaint or anything we would change about the food.
I couldn’t finish this review without mentioning the view. Although the property is going through some renovations (it did make us a bit weary as we walked in), it did not disrupt our evening at all. We couldn’t hear the works and there is nothing in the way of the outstanding view from the dining room. It is on the pricey side, however it is worth every penny. If you’re booking, I recommend earlier sittings, we went for 5:30 and it was a nice quiet time. We also requested a table with a view, remember your sunglasses, the tables with the best view are seated at the open windows and doors around the outside of the restaurant dining room, allowing you to see right to the sea with no other heads blocking your way!
Our best meal in Maui so far this trip!
I'm sad to give Plantation House Restaurant only 3 stars. I was hoping and expecting a 5 star experience. The view is unbeatable. Situated high on the hillside of Kapalua overlooking the Plantation Golf Course, the view of the Pacific and of Molokai are fabulous. The service is fine. There was live music the night we dined there. It was lovely. And the view of the sunset was incredible. However, the food quality was inconsistent. My macadamia nut crusted fish was fantastic. The butter/champagne sauce was delicious. I totally enjoyed my meal. The fish cooked perfectly. Beautiful presentation as well.
My partner however ordered the short ribs. While the ribs were tender, there was no flavor to them and no sauce. It was a very dry piece of meat to eat. I tried a piece of his short rib and totally agree. It was dry and flavorless. On top of the shortribs, the accompanying starch was barley, pearl onion, ali'i mushrooms, garlic crumble. It was boring and also extremely dry. We finally were able to flag down our waiter and asked for some kind of sauce. Even steak sauce. He did finally bring some. But, even with that, the steak sauce didn't help. It was still inedible. He ate only about a third of the short rib and none of the barley and vegetables. Everything was flavorless and dry. Even with all the expensive food he left, it was not worth putting in a take out container to just throw away later. I don't mind spending money for a delicious meal. But when it's barely edible I feel ripped off. Too bad, Plantation House. We've dined there many times in the past. But, I doubt we'll be back.
Lots of construction that wasn’t disclosed when making or confirming reservation. Disappointing for the cost of the meal. Server didn’t know how to split check between two credit cards.
Everything very good. Prices are way up from last year and menu was reduced in size
Food was good, but took and hour to get the appetizer- an hour and 20!minutes for dinner which was two salads, a poke bowl and chicken (nothing required a lot of prep time). Portions are small - and this from a family they usually has to-go boxes from other restaurants on the island.
Wait staff was friendly, but untrained. Lots of little misses - nothing egregious- probably wouldn’t have noticed as much had we not been waiting for so long for our food. Examples- no dipping sauces for our appetizer, served my wife last, never came back to refill sparking water ice bucket, sat dirty plates from another table on ours to start clearing our table....
Nit a good night at the Plantation House. Started out strong but quickly went down hill. It took over an hour to serve our entrees, and our server pretty much forgot about us after it was served. It is a shame as my wife and loved PH on our honeymoon 21 years ago. I would not recommend it to anyone in similar situations. For the price, it was not worth it at all.
Excellent restaurant with beautiful view, the sun set was awesome
First of all, we enjoyed the efficient, courteous and overall excellent service from Junior and Keana. Also greatly appreciated is the location of our table. I requested a table with a view, and we got seated at one of the best spots in the restaurant.
All the entrees (scallops, NY steak, mahi-mahi, short ribs)/wine (Malbec and Chardonnay)---- we ordered from the Tuesday Date Night were delicious. Coffee, Tiramisu and triple chocolate cake were a perfect ending to another unforgettable meal at the Plantation House.
Do not eat here unless you like it sweltering hot. We had a six o’clock reservation on a sunny day. The temperature in the place was about 100 degrees with the sun blaring unbelievable heat. They want the view, but the direct west exposure without enough AC makes for a horrible dining experience. We were all dripping wet. The food did not matter. We just wanted out.
We went for brunch at 11 on a sunday. We had a reservation. It took over an hour to get our food (pancakes and eggs) and when it came it wasnt complete. The food was ok but not great. The only redeeming quality was the view.
Food was mostly good, but the broccoli cheddar soup was more like a dip. It was way too thick and salty. We had a beautiful view of the sunset. Best to go when the construction is finished.
Our anniversary dinner at the Plantation House was the best experience. I almost changed our dinner reservations so happy I did not. I even recommended it to others on our tour. Everything was absolutely perfect!
The food is absolutely delicious. I had the short rib loco moco. Yum! You cannot beat the outstanding panoramic views. The staff is friendly and attentive. The mai tai was the best I’ve had on the island!
Great little lunch. Club sandwich and mahi mahi ceasar were delish. One of our most affordable meals in Maui. We ate here because of the famous golf course and had a lovely lunch with amazing view.
Breakfast was wonderful. Service great. Beautiful scenery. Doesn’t get much better.
The Plantation House has really gone downhill. We have dined there every year for the last 25 years. The vegetarian options are almost non existent unless comprise a meal of all sides which is not that fun. The restaurant was half empty, even during the sunset. I doubt we will be returning.
Breakfast entrees were very good and generous portions. Service was excellent. Only downside was the state of the current renovations, which couldn't be helped. Once the construction and upgrades are done, this will be a great venue. The views are fantastic.
Great location, great food. Would highly recommend to anyone for a great meal and ambiance
There was a wedding going on that night and there was a slight delay to get our meals, our waiter Jose and the staff at The Plantation House couldn't have been more gracious and kind to us.
Absolutely fantastic! Great food! Great drinks! Fabulous service!
Beautiful views of the ocean and greenery/golf course. Excellent eggs Benedict.
