About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Kid-friendly
  • Neighborhood gem
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Parking on site.

All of our dishes had to be sent back! When we got each item we ordered it was cold. Even sending the food back twice was not helpful. It was still cold. We just decided to pack it to try to heat it up in the microwave at the hotel. We were so unhappy! I felt sorry for Tom the waiter who was really great but could not assist us with the cold food.

Everything was going well until a family came in with it's dog in a stroller. The tables were in close proximity. You could tell everyone was uncomfortable. A dog in a restaurant is only acceptable when the seating is outside. Ruined our experience. Our waiter was oustanding!

Honestly, cool place with a cool history. The food was meh, and in my opinion over priced for what it was. I would go again for a drink and the experience, but I would skip dinner.

Great experience for the kids. Food was really good and the actual Pirate house was pretty cool. They also have a great bar for the adults.

Such a cool part of history. It was reasonably priced . I would highly suggest a reservation (Opentable)At lunch they have a buffet with fantastic fried chicken and other meats and veggies. You can also order from the menu. We had a great server. The building itself is worth going . Take a look at the old tunnel entrance and read the paper menu for the history.

We enjoyed our dinner experience here. The service was excellent and the food was good. Lots of history and interesting things to learn about this place! We especially loved the biscuits, she crab soup and pan seared grouper! Will be back!
