The Pirates' House
The food was not very good, my steak was burnt, and the waitress didnt pay attention to our table. The tables are very close to each other and felt awkward.
Very fun atmosphere! Definitely more of a touristy place, the food is average, the service good. It’s a fun for an “I tried it” experience with the decor and wise cracking pirate lass at the front door
Great food, delicious lunch buffet, wonderful atmosphere
Great food friendly professional staff. Definitely a place I would come back again and again.
Great meal! Food and drinks were delicious. Our server, Andres, was great. Very friendly and professional! Atmosphere was lots of fun! We were in a tiny room at the way back of the restaurant, so it was pretty quiet for us!
The food is always great, especially their bread basket and their honey pecan fried chicken, the staff is always friendly. There's a nice little gift shop and a bar area that is great for waiting at before you're seated.
Very pleasant with good service
The Easter Buffet was excellent. All of the food items were great. There was no wait once you were seated. The prime rib was perfect. The fried chicken was tender and moist. All of the vegetables were tasty and not salty.
Made a reservation a month in advance- but we were seated in an unpleasant, uncomfortable auxiliary dining room. Staff was loudly and messily cleaning up dirty tables near us while we were trying to enjoy Easter dinner. Seemed dirty and was very loud. Not what I expected at all.
We called twice and were told no reservations by phone. We got reservations then through open table hooray. Normally the place is packed there were many open tables. Perhaps the girl told many people the same thing and cost them business
Family spring break
The food was a bit over priced for the quality. The biscuit in the complimentary bread basket were hard and crumbled when you tried to eat them. The duck meat that came with one meal was tough and chewy as was the steak. My seafood plate was 1/2 French fries. And the broiled shrimp smelled fishy. The one saving grace was the cup of She crab soup. It was excellent. We ordered soup or salad, tea, and and dinner plates and it cost $150 for four of us to eat and that doesn’t include the 20% tip.
I had been there once before and was impossible to try something new when I came back to Savannah with a guest. Great food and service, cool costumed pirates to take pictures with or by, and for the optional, historical tour of the building. ENJOY!
To our pleasant surprise, we were seated in the Herb Room... we had a
The restaurant was fine for casual weekend dining
Upon arriving ten minutes early for our reservation we were promptly seated. Our waiter was top notch. A real professional and well spoken. Clearly loved his job as his knowledge of menu was second to non. Cocktails were great, recommend the dark and stormy. Appetizers were a hit as was the main course. Everyone shared and each dish was liked by all. The presentation of the chocolate cake and creme brûlée was nice enough to draw oos and aahs from several tables. Well done all around. Will be back on our next trip.
The worst dining experience ever! Do not believe the hype. The chicken was overcooked, dry, couldn't even get a fork in it. My husband cut his gums on a shell from the crab gratin. My daughter spit her chicken out and my son didn't want his hotdog (his favorite food). The calamari appetizer was soaked in oil and served with flavorless marinara sauce. All of the food was lukewarm at best and clearly not cooked to order. I was really looking forward to eating here and was incredibly disappointed.
Server gave history of room we were dining in--very interesting. He was also great fun. Food good, casual atmosphere.
The kids loved it. The food was good. The service was cheerful but terrible--as in comically incompetent. The container of honey butter was actually mayonnaise (the waiter apologized and brought the honey butter). We received our bread (appetizer) when we'd nearly finished eating our entrees. The water glasses were never, ever refilled. We got up to use the restroom and came back to find our entire table cleared. (It all had to be reset so we could resume our meal). The bill was placed on our table while we were in the middle of eating our entrees. The waiter tried to clear my dish while I was still eating. And on, an on. That said, the kids loved the pirate atmosphere. They were disappointed the servers weren't dressed as pirates (as one review we'd read had promised) but the historic building was really cool, as were the paper pirate hats kids can make at the table. The gift shop upstairs has some cool pirate-themed shirts and knick knacks.
Great southern food. Fried chicken, Mac and cheese, greens and green beans. The way grandma would make it. If you want healthy choose somewhere else. But if you want a great southern meal that is delicious until the last bite, this is your spot!
We had a reservation for 7. We were promptly seated and had our own private area. The service was great and the food was fabulous. We will certainly come again!!
Nicely done, and for families with children, great fun. Staff dressed as pirates come around to tables with children. Other customers are exempt. Space is divided into door less rooms which helps contain noise, but creates a need to drop bread crumbs to get to and from the restrooms.
Strongly recommend this Savannah experience, and strongly suggest reservations be made a day in advance. This place does a lot of business....but doesn't rush a seated customer.
Service was average, food was not good. Will not go back or recommend to others.
We had a reservation. They stuck us back in a tiny room with only 3 tables. Because if the size of the room, we could hear every word said by the people at one of the tables. We were disappointed that the menu online didn't match the one we were given
It was Amazing!!!
Fun family place with decent food and reasonable prices
Disappointing we had not been in years--changes to buffet which used to include a salad bar section and no seafood casserole.
Great food. Loved the atmosphere. The house is absolutely beautiful. Highly rec this as a stop on your trip!
Excellent food, service. Always our #1 restaurant destination in Savannah!
What could have been an enjoyable evening was marred by the circus environment. We made reservations a month in advance, but were seated in a room overflowing with loud, obnoxious children who were quite literally running through the room, crawling under tables, and shrieking. The food—and our waiter—were quite good, but there are too many places in Savannah we can drop $100 and have a much better experience.
Everything was great. We just got seated next to a table with lots of kids, so it was a very noisy dinner.
Definitely the best value, quality, & amazing location in Savannah to dine! Kids & adults will really enjoy this place!
We had a party of seven on Saturday for a family lunch and as always The Pirates House was fantastic. Our server, Gabriella took excellent care of us. We had a child with us who had a sore thought and she was kind enough to get him a sample of the gumbo soup to see if he would like it since there were limited items he could eat. I asked to be seated in my favorite room, the Herb House, and they sat us there. It is such a great room with privacy but you are still able to see and experience the comings and goings in the restaurant. Some of the people in our party were not familiar with history of the house and Gabriella gave us a history lesson. The Pirates House has been a family favorite of ours for about 45 years. It’s always a wonderful experience for adults and children too.
Nice historic restaurant. She Crab soup was great. Lunch buffet was also good.
Food and service was less than average. Pretty disappointing.
We would recommend the Pirates' House for the cool history factor. Take the 10 min tour while you're there! Our initial greeting at the check in stand was non-existent. We were ignored for a few minutes. The food was just meh. I felt it was not worth the price we paid. Our server was just ok. She didn't seem too happy to be working tbh. Our tour guide was very upbeat though! Make reservations if you want to go!
Food was great and staff was super friendly. Especially loved the joke telling pirate. She was really good with the kids. Very rich in history!!!
We enjoyed our lunch in a smaller room. Waitress's favorite was the mashed sweet potatoes which were very good. Food served in timely manner as we were on a schedule. Next time we will allow more time to take the tour.
