About The Pirates' House

The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Enthusiastically recommended by AAA, Food & Wine and Redbook.

This was a treasure. We were seated in a room that is allegedly the oldest dwelling in Georgia. Our server was a charming young woman, Emily. She helped us make perfect choices from the fried green tomato salad to my husband's pecan encrusted chicken which could have served 3. My tilapia and crab was delicious and was enjoyed at lunch the next day. When we return to Savannah, we will eat there again.

very disappointed in the food, the only good thing were the biscuits and cornbread they brought before the meal (Crabmelt sandwich and coleslaw were horribble.)
We were in a room away from the lunchbuffet (which did not look to impressive) so it was quiet and we could talk which was nice.
If somebody is into pirates it's the place to go, just drink!

The restaurant was very cool and the food was really good. It was just pretty empty for Saturday night. Felt more like a daytime spot then dinner

Our server was not all that attentive. She did not even tell us that there’s was a free tour of the building offered after your meal. The food was good but, not off the chain.

We were looking forward to eating at The Pirate House as it had received so many positive reviews. Our food was at best mediocre and the service was equally as bad. A total disappointment!!

Food acceptable but terrible service. Rushed us and the place was not busy. In and out in 45 minutes. Waitress needs to be reprogrammed.

Great atmosphere; delicious entrees, tasty cocktails, and excellent service. This was our second visit, and we loved it just as much the second time as the first. We will always visit The Pirates House any time we are in the Savannah, GA area.

We chose The Pirate's House for our Thanksgiving dinner as we were visiting Savannah with our second grader, who is about the same age I was when I last ate there. The buffet was pricy but the items we selected were very tasty. Of course since this was a buffet only dinner, there is no way I can judge the regular menu based on our experience. However, despite the large number of guests dining there at the time, the service was friendly and efficient. Needless to say the atmosphere was very touristy, but my kid loved it and that's one of the main reasons why I chose it.

We were there for the Thanksgiving buffet. One of the largest food presentations I have ever been to and everything I ate surpassed my expectations. Even the biscuits with whipped butter were beyond the ordinary

A must visit for my children every year when we are in Savannah. Can’t beat the history of the venue and the fried chicken is out of this world. The kids love the pirate themed tour of the restaurant. We’ll be back again next year.

While this is likely the most "touristy" restaurant in Savannah, it does have an impressive pedigree, and the food is really good with outstanding service. Recommended.

The server was horrible. She disregarded half of my party. She did not engage our table in, yet she was friendly with the guests around us, hmm, we knew right away why. Our food was like warm and one order was completely wrong. The manager appeared as though we was causing a problem when we informed the waitress of the food issues. The manager solved the issues by relating the cold dish with hot food and the incorrect order with the correct order. Overall, we will NEVER return for dinner and I will NEVER recommend anyone in my community of people to dine here. The lunch waitstaff is much better.

Having lived in Savannah for 25 years and visiting regularly now, the Pirates House is an old favorite. But it's not what it used to be - the vibrant restaurant with unbelievable ambience and the best food in Savannah. I would recommend it now for lunch, the lunch buffet is good, or a casual dinner. On my latest visit last Sunday my friend and I were seated in one of the rooms in the old house, which we asked for. These are the rooms with character and historical significance. The service was excellent and the food was good, but not great like it was in the 60's - 90's when you went to the Pirates House for dinner to celebrate a special occasion. The tables did not have tablecloths or candles, and the music was annoyingly loud 80's rock hits. Ugh! A little soft dinner music, a candle, tablecloth, and fire in the fireplace would have been so nice, just like the old days! Like I said, it is more of a lunch place now, or casual dinner.
