About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
Not only can you get a juicy roast prime rib at The Parson"s Table, but you can eat it inside a church, too. The location remains very much the same structure that it was in 1885, when Little River Methodist Church was built. The cherished establishment first opened its church doors as a restaurant in the late 1970's and has been serving exquisite American steakhouse fare ever since. The restaurant's decor is positively Southern-charm antique, complete with dark wooden walls, stained glass windows and an original Tiffany glass lamp in the main dining room. An award winning wine list graces The Parson's Table as well as an outstanding fresh seafood selection.

Food is always delicious. Ambiance unique and set up so conversations can be held without yelling. Our waitress, Kaitlyn, was outstanding. The indication of an excellent restaurant is when the waitress prepares your take-out box away from your table, instead of just plopping an empty box in front of you. Have never been disappointed when dining there.

The mussels were out of this world and the cornbread was delicious. However, the entrees left much to be desired. I had a filet that was not good at all, it was flavorless and only tasted of the bacon that it was wrapped in. I had ordered a mushroom sauce that came congealed and also flavorless, definitely not a sauce that you'd expect at a fine dining establishment. I found the sides to be overly seasoned and tasted not as fresh as I would have anticipated for what we were paying. Additionally, there is a shared plate fee of $8.00 which seems pretty unreasonable at this point when your entrees are all nearly over $30.00. The church is pretty, and the service was great. But overall, there are better restaurants in the area for overall dining experience. However, the mussels, unmatched!

had a wonderful dinner last night. The food was excellent. While the service was a bit slow....very busy last night...we had a chance to catch up with our good friends. Everyone enjoyed their meals tremendously. Still full the Easter morning.

We have visited the Parson's Table perhaps a dozen times, perhaps more. Each visit has been remarkable. Last evening, I had the chef's special, grouper with green beans and sweet potato, prefaced by the brie en croute with strawberry, Granny Smith apple slices, and a raspberry puree and by the Oysters Rockefeller. For an entree, she had the seafood platter (they graciously made a substitution, as she is seriously allergic to salmon). Excellence throughout: menu, preparation, service. Another wonderful experience! Many thanks. Especially to Kendra and Matt...
