Great! Lovely outdoor seating

This place is remarkable beginning with Lily(on weekends) as the hostess with the mostess(and I do not mean maybe). The staff is well trained and close to perfect in every way. The buffet is beyond great. Always fresh. The pastry chef must come from pastry heaven. Truly a master at what he does. Food/service/value- the tops.

Fine hotel restaurant, but not worth it if you are looking for an authentic Charleston experience.

On our visits to Charleston we usually have breakfast at the Palmetto Cafe. And most of the time we go through the breakfast buffet. This visit we were a little disappointed as the eggs Benedict which had always been delicious was overcooked and dry. We rebounded with a good omelette however. Next time we may order from the menu. We will return as it is a great place to enjoy breakfast. Fresh OJ and French press coffee is delish

Saturday lunch consisted of shrimp and grits and the sampler. She crab soup was excellent as was the burger. Paul, our waiter, was fantastic. Atmosphere was upscale but not stuffy.

Breakfast was wonderful. Our sever was very nice. The food is second to none!!

Incredible! Beautiful surroundings of natural light and gardens. The buffet is where it’s at so you can sample all the amazing brunch foods. Truly a beautiful spot for an amazing bite.

Made the reservation and requested table 21 well in advance. When we showed up, not only was someone else JUST seated at table 21, there wasn't any table ready for us, so we had to wait. The lady, who I believe was one of the managers, was very friendly and apologized profusely. Our waiter was nice, but forgot to bring an item we ordered, so had to flag him down to remind him. This is the second time he's waited on us and both times he went to get something we ordered and got side-tracked. Food was excellent and has been consistently great every single time we come to the Palmetto Cafe (we've been coming to the Palmetto Cafe for many years). Will be back, but will also start dining at their competition at the new Bennett Hotel just down the street.

Service was somewhat lethargic, and our server not very enthusiastic. We waited to place drinks orders, and they arrived after about 5 minutes. The food is okay, not outstanding by Charleston standards.

Great service friendly staff and excellent food!

I didn't realize this was a hotel restaurant when I booked the reservation. I might have considered another location had I realized it was in a hotel. The food and service were very good. The brunch buffet was fairly fresh and hot. It was a little noisy and very expensive. But overall an enjoyable brunch.

Brunch is a buffet which is unexpected for such an expensive and nice restaurant. Lunch menu mainly consists of seafood and salads which is rather disappointing, but nevertheless the shrimp and grits are great.

For a “first” class establishment the Sunday Brunch was a disappointment. Besides a beautiful appearance of the fresh fruit and some smoked salmon only scrambled eggs cooked three different ways with potatoes or grits with shrimp in a soap tasting sauce was available. No ham, roast beef or similar was served. Comparing this brunch to the ones served Upstate the Palmetto Cafe event comes out like the “poor relatives menu”. Definitely not worth the expense.

The Palmetto Cafe was elegant, bright, beautiful and welcoming. We (two female friends visiting from out of town) did plan smartly ahead with a late afternoon reservation (2 p.m.) The portions are large and this was our meal for the day since we had evening tickets for a play. The short rib appetizer on plantains that we split was superb . I ordered the caesar salad with both scallops and chicken for my protein. I had ordered the salad with dressing on the side but it did arrive fully dressed. I chose not to send it back. The scallops were divine but the chicken was overcooked and tough. I left about half of what I was served. With one large table near us it was a little noisy, but the ambience of the room more than made of for the noise. I would definitely go back but probably share an entree if you are not a big eater.

In my opinion, a high-end breakfast buffet should have a made-to-order omelet station, not just a pan of scrambled eggs. Also, it is doubtful that the small shrimp in the shrimp and grits were local. More likely, they were frozen imports from Asia or South America. I enjoyed the cheese blintzes, smoked salmon, and fresh fruit, though. Service was slow at 7:30 am, although there were several servers milling about and only a few diners. My husband, daughter and I have dined at the Palmetto Cafe on several occasions (usually holidays) and have generally been happy with the food and service, but this visit was disappointing.

What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday brunch, in a relaxed, comfortable bright space! We had a lovely experience and a terrific meal, complimented by well prepared and very tasty cocktails. Frankly, everything on the menu looked so good it was hard to decide what to order. The good news is that we could only enjoy so much at one sitting. We will be back!

Wonderful service!! Great brunch buffet, lovely atmosphere, were happy to accommodate bringing in our stroller.

The Sunday Brunch was very good. They also have Gluten Free bread/toast is you ask for it.
