Casual waterfront dining right on the docks of the Patchogue River, The Oar serves up fresh and delicious steaks and seafood. Chefs prepare specialties like coconut shrimp, 36 oz sizzling prime porterhouse, lobster quesadillas and fresh Bluepoint oysters and little clams which are delivered daily. Two dining rooms are decorated in traditional nautical style. The front wall in made up of French doors that open onto the water, providing dockside open air seating in warm months and picturesque views of the marina year-round. The rear dining room is elegant with raise panel mahogany, white table clothes and blue and white nautical stripe wall paper. We look forward to accommodating your special occasion in the separate catering room. The restaurant stocks full indoor and outdoor bars so you'll never miss a beautiful night at this fun and entertaining spot.

The food was very tasty and good, loved the seared mussels. My wife had the salmon and cooked perfect and I had the duck and was good too. The waitress was excellent.This was my third time there.

Our first time there. Waited for reservations to come back! Waitress was awesome. Friendly welcome! A little confusing to find the entrance into the restaurant. You come into the catering hall. We will be back!!

The food was delicious, my husband and I will absolutely be back. The server was definietly busy, but it was a packed restaurant (never a bad sign). They had an amazing band playing.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch to celebrate my birthday. Our waitress was so pleasant and answered all of our questions about the menu. Food was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

Food was amazing. Priced perfectly for what we got. Cocktails were also good and priced nicely. Servers were also a delight. The crowd is definitely in the older age bracket, but still a nice little tucked away restaurant.

We went for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The lunch pre fix menu was great - an app and main course. Really tasty and the drink was great too. Only comment was we had a few glasses and cutlery that were dirty which were switch out but it took a few tries 😬. Would definitely go again!

We Love the Oar! Been going there for years. It is hidden in a neighborhood and right on the water. Everyone loved the menu choices and their meals. Excellent choice of cocktails too!

Great place to spend a summer afternoon. The servers are friendly and accommodating, the food is great, and the views can't be beat. I took off one star because the lunch menu is very limited for people who don't eat seafood. I'm a seafood lover, so all good for me, but my other 2 guests only had a couple of choices. But overall, worth the visit!
