Very friendly staff. Food was very good and so was the service. It was quite empty for a Saturday evening with football play-offs on TV.
Food was good but lasagna was cool in the middle. Asked for bread and was charged $2.00 for 4 small slices of bread.
Very cute place. Good menu selections. Good food.
food was good and the wait was very helpful.. 1st time back in
The best burger in Minneapolis and unusual interesting decor
Excellent as always. Great dinner before MN Orchestra.
Rueben was fantastic and chicken almond salad was wonderful.
My wife described her lasagna as the best she’s ever had. My burger was delicious, although cooked a little more than I expected. The beer menu was excellent.
We loved this place, we had a reservation for 10 people at noon on New Years Day and they had everything ready for us with the nicest server (I’m so upset I didn’t get her name for a special shout out). When we sat down it was right next to a speaker that was very loud, but we only needed to ask for it to be turned down and they were happy to do it. The food came out fast and everyone’s plates were clean. The ambiance was very cool and it was relaxed and cozy. 10/10 so so happy with everything!
The service was excellent. The steaks we ordered were cooked perfectly, and the shrimp Mac n Cheese had an amazing amount of shrimp. Overall we’ll go again if in town.
Alex was an outstanding waitress and the food was awesome. Especially the Brussels sprouts with blue cheese as well as the chicken and waffles.
Our server was fantastic, but we will not return to this restaurant again. The number of loud TVs was just ridiculous. The area in which we were seated was so dark we could barely see our menus. The food was mediocre.
My husband and I were visiting from out of town made a reservation for 7:45. When seated they let us know right away that the kitchen was closing soon so that we were aware but did it so politely that we didn’t feel rushed. We quickly figured out what we wanted so they could put the order in. My husband got a Kobe burger which he said was delicious and I got the Beet Salad with Chicken and it was the best salad I’ve ever had! Service was great as well!
Dark and dreary…. Sort of a boring vibe to ur… even the staff seemed bored. Food was decent, but not worth coming back for.
Vikings Game with Family
Cozy on a cold night. Made a meal vegetarian for us. Fun drinks. Great waiter. Stayed on schedule for theater.
Friday night before a Timberwolves game; service was slow,
Poorly timed and incorrect.
Good was poor, very greasy, and expensive for what it was.
I hadn’t been to News Room in over 8 years and now I know why.
Great food!! Right downtown. Good service. Fast and lots of choices!!
Very nice lunch and service. We shared an Almond Chicken salad and fried Brie with blueberry ketchup. Yum! Love the newsroom decor and spacious setting. Restrooms were fun too.
Buffalo sauce way too vinegar tasting, chicken breading fell off breast and was soggy, potato waffle was flavorless.
It would be good to have the volume of the televisions on mute in the dining room. I can see where the sound is valuable in the bar, but it makes conversation very hard in the rest of the restaurant.
They said they did not have our reservation on file but when I showed them my confirmation they gave us a table. We were seated next to a large group that was really loud which was not ideal for our small twosome trying to have lunch and catch up. They have a nice wine, beer and drink menu and the soup was fantastic. The caesar salad was really dry and then I was charged for more dressing which seemed a little unnecessary for a $20 salad.
Extremely LONG wait time for the food. Over an hour
One of few restaurants still open in downtown Minneapolis - a very good crowd and affable server. Enjoyed the decor. They do take reservations - a real plus for securing a table before the Orchestra Hall, games, etc.
Made an 8:45 reservation, was seated and told “hurry and order our kitchen closed 5 mins ago”. Then we told “last call” on drinks, so we placed a last order only to moments later to be told “we lock the doors in 7 mins”. Overall not sure why we were even allowed to make this reservation. Oh upon being seated we were also told “this is the worst table in the place” by the waitress. So overall wouldn’t recommend.
We went before a show. This restaurant always pops up on Open table , so I thought I would try. The food was ok but our server was so mean! I can understand if you are having a bad day, but don’t take it out on me!
With the Viking game and Anastasia at the Orpheum, I’m so glad we had a reservation as it was busy. We were seated in the dining room closest to Nicollet mall and apparently the only lighting in there were the tv’s and small candles on each table, it was VERY dark, so dark we could barely see the menus. Our server was very prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. We didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or our food. We all ordered the pecan chicken salad and it was quite delicious, a surprise with each bite as we couldn’t really see it. Dessert was also delicious but the utensils we were given were very strange, two soup spoons and a fork. The fork was fine for one of my friends eating the tort but soup spoons were poor for another eating a tort and my cheesecake.
We chose The News Room because it was close to our concert venue, but it surpassed our expectations. Great food, great service, open, spacious, and just right to meet with friends.
Food was ok, nothing special, except for the root beer cookie, which was amazing! Our server was awesome as well. Overall, it’s a good place to eat, but not really an adventure in, and of, itself.
Busy place. Service was spot on and efficient though the food was a bit slow to arrive. That was ok as we gave ourselves plenty of time for a concert at an Orchestra Hall performance. Perfect location if attending a performance,
It was my first time there. We were in a big comfortable booth by the bar and it felt festive. The Cobb salad with grill chicken was very good. I was disappointed by a stingy pour for a $13 glass of wine. Sadly, it took over one hour for our food to arrive. So, it was a mixed experience.
Great meal- chicken almond salad and Rueben. Noise volume made it hard to hear/converse.
We had the Brie curds as an appetizer and they were delicious. We then had two different steaks, both were cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths.
Had a great experience at the Newsroom. Seated our party quickly and the food was delicious.
It's good to have News Room still open downtown and other restaurants are delaying their reopening.
Great pre TWolves place to eat!
Drinks, appetizer, dinner, and rooter cookies for dessert. Everything was better than I hoped if would be. Such a great night
Definitely the best steak I have ever had. Service was wonderful and love the decor.

Birthday party with the girls. They tolerated our loudness and had excellent food/drinks!!
Fabulous meals- ruben and almond chicken salad.
