The Nelson Cottage is a unique restaurant offering a prix fixe dinner served family style. Separate from the High West Saloon, and just two doors up, it is located in a beautifully renovated historic cottage.

We offer a prix fixe dinner with a menu of the chef’s choosing in a communal dining setting Wednesday through Sunday evenings throughout the Winter season. Substitutions are politely declined as we offer a set menu only. As our tables seat about 8 guests, for larger groups please give us a call to make a reservation.

We will do our best with advance notice of food related allergies, however it may not be possible to accommodate every allergy.

Dinner: $85 per guest; $100 on select Holiday nights
Hand Selected Whiskey Pairings: $40-$65 per guest

A credit card is required to secure all reservations. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will result in a charge of $85 per guest.

service and food were incredible. Whiskey tasting is optional - they had some great wines by the glass. Can't wait to come back next time!

This was a great experience. The multi course meal was served family style and everything from the scallops, truffle mac and cheese and niman ranch rib eye were perfect. There were 3 other courses as well. Amazing. Service was warm and professional. We shared a whiskey pairing which was enough for us. The evening ended with a tour of the nearby distillery. Excellent evening.

Seating with other people we didn't know was unexpected. The staff at High West are terrific--friendly, knowledgeable, efficient. The food was delicious, but priced very high. The choice of wines, while very good, were quite expensive. There was no middle of the road to choose from. The expense of the dinner was high overall, especially when combined with the pairing and a bottle of wine; we ate at several wonderful restaurants that same week and the average price pp was $50 which included an appetizer and main course. The pairing charge of 4 ounces for $60 was definitely over priced. The house/restaurant is lovely but it would have been more enjoyable to sit with just our family members than four other gentlemen we didn't know. I can't help but mention also that we had a vegetarian with us and although something was prepared separately for her it seemed somewhat last minute and not well thought out even though that information was provided well in advance; and her dinner was priced the same as ours which I didn't think was right.

We have been coming to Park City to ski for over 20 years, and eating out is usually more of a pain than a pleasure since we come from New York City and have plenty of opportunities for great dining at home. PC restaurants have certainly improved over the years, and we know where to go to get a solid meal - but nothing special enough to bother writing a review until now. We had a group of 8 for the Prix Fixe menu plus whiskey flights at Nelson Cottage and it was hands down the BEST meal/experience we have ever had in Park City. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the heated patio, family style service at a long communal table with interesting people, OUTSTANDING food, great whiskeys, amazing atmosphere. We didn't want the evening to end! The whiskey "sommelier" gave us a mini tour of the affiliated High West distillery down the street and we finished up at the top-rate High West bar. Going back in 2 weeks....it was that good. Don't waste your money or your appetite at overpriced, just OK PC restaurants -- go to Nelson Cottage instead!

The cottage is charming, the staff wonderful and the ambiance delightful. However, the food is ok. I’ve been several time and the food has stagnated. It’s time to change the dessert from a pile of dry brownies into something more interesting. The steak, this time was more fat than meat and the mac-n-cheese could use a revamp.

Let me preface this by saying, I am not a big whiskey fan, my husband is. We've been to the other High West and it was very good in the food department. This small house is cozy, beautiful and the food we were served was delicious! We started out (outside) with hot apple cider and whiskey and it was soooo good (remember, not a whiskey person). The appetizers were delicious and my only tip is to sit (outside) at the"L" shaped couch as it has a fire pit coffee table and lots of blankets to warm up with. Inside, it got even better the four of us sat at a large table of 8 and the ambiance and company were wonderful. We had delicious food. I'm trying to get a copy of our menu, as we all loved it. The only thing I can remember is the salad (which was absolutely fantastic) and the rib-eye (which were the first and last courses!). The dessert was to die for and that's about all I can say. My husband got the whiskey pairing and really enjoyed it (the host came by and explained each one and why it was paired with that course). There was an optional tour of the distillery at the big restaurant a short walk from the cottage and it was great! HIGHLY recommend it!

Easily the best dining experience to be had in Park City. We enjoyed hearing the backstory on High West while learning more about the whiskey itself. The whiskey pairings are a must-try, but the staff will graciously allow you to split one with a dining partner. It is an extremely pricy meal for the communal dining setting. Be aware if you're looking for something more intimate.

We enjoyed a special dinner out with my teenage son who unfortunately cannot dine at the High West Saloon. The varied couses were interesting and incredibly delicious, and the ambiance of the antique cottage was also wonderful.

The food was tasty. It was a fixed price menu with little control over preparation so you might miss out on a course or two if you have food allergies, etc. They have a nice beer and spirits list but little in the way of wine as you might expect. Happy we visited; not sure we would splurge again on this dining experience.

Our family of five throughly enjoyed the special evening. Everything from the amuse bouche and warm cocktails on the porch(with the cozy fire), to the historical narrative of the facility and High West whiskey. The food courses and whiskey pairings were unique and flavorful, the seating was intimate with the kitchen and we loved the family style dining. We will be back next year for sure!

Food was mediocre. Steak way too salty. Poor accommodation of a food allergy. No wine by the glass. Suggest if you’re not a whiskey lover you skip this one.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience but would have preferred to pay a higher price for an all-inclusive meal than to pay a la carte for all drinks. It ended up being an insanely expensive evening not on par with the meal or beverages.

It's a shame because the chef is AMAZING--fantastic food--and the drinks are obviously the best! However, they literally packed us in like sardines. Communal tables can be fun, but the seating was elbow to elbow, chairs crammed in so tight you could barely pull them out, and my husband on the end could just about fit one leg under the table. We could hardly hear the witty and clever host, and certainly could not turn around to see him--I was so squeezed it was hard to pick up my fork without knocking my (never met before) new close friend : )
Certainly not what we were expecting for the fixed price and it could have easily been so wonderful. I vote if they can't make ends meet they should simply raise the price--it would be well worth it for the exceptional food, bourbon and whiskey galore, friendly service, and fun atmosphere it should have been.

Don’t bring a date here!!!! They seat the 2 of us us on a table that barely fit 8 people with a company of 8 guys. We were literally seating with half of our bodies outside the table. Then they put my girlfriend on the other side of the table where I couldn’t even talk to her for distance and noise level. The guys on our table understood we were very uncomfortable, but nobody of the staff did. We left after 25 minutes had only one appetizer and the “complimentary” drink.... Nobody asked if there was something wrong and still charged us $140 for an appetizer and 1 drink. I called the following day to complain, they told me the manager would have called me, but he never did. The concept is nice, but don’t go on a date, they will seat you wherever and with whoever and don’t ask you if you’re ok...
