Best gazpacho ever!!! My halibut was cooked perfectly and the sides of mango/jicama salsa and the black rice were absolutely delicious. Then our waitress, Tiffany, suggested the dark chocolate bread pudding. Oh my goodness- heaven in a morsel 😋 Tiffany was a total delight- helpful, pleasant, and just lovely.

This is one of the most pleasant dining experiences I’ve had for some time- ambiance, service, food, and personal welcome. My international friend was introduced to a wonderful artichoke appetizer, including advice on how to eat it! When ordering our main plate, baked halibut, we were told that the servings were very generous, with a gentle suggestion that the serving might be shared. What a thoughtful suggestion this was! We both loved our dinner experience. What a pleasure to enjoy wonderful food in an atmosphere where you could also talk quietly and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Thank you.

Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive service. Ordered halibut-wild rice-mango. Spouse Ordered prawns and pesto pasta. Both tasty. I asked about their fantastic scallops and was told it's seasonal and would be back on the menu by late fall. Not cheap ($60/person) but a nice setting for special occasions or persons.

We have been going to The Mustard Seed in Davis for decades, under several owners. It's a charming, quiet place to visit with friends, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. However, the prices have risen and, on this last meal at least, the food preparation and creativity did not warrant the prices. Two of us found our pork overcooked and the accompanying potatoes and squash underwhelming. The service was lovely and we did appreciate, as always, the environment.

The food was delicious and very well balanced. Plenty of options for people of all types of dietary preferences. The Halibut was incredible. The pork loin had this very rich and complex sauce on top which paired extremely well. Will be coming back for more special occasions.

As usual, the food at Mustard Seed was outstanding. We went to celebrate a 75th birthday. I started with a cup of the gazpacho, which was wonderful. This is my favorite summer soup, and theirs is probably the best I’ve ever eaten, very delicately flavorful with lots of veggies to add to the complexity of flavor and texture. For my entree I ordered the herb crusted rack of lamb which is one of my go-to favorites there. The generous portion was served with a yummy scallion croquette and oven roasted seasonal vegetables, which last night were tiny, delicate baby squash. For dessert we shared the profiteroles. The dark chocolate ganache topping and generously served shaved dark chocolate were a perfect combo for the pastry and gelato of the profiteroles. My husband and I have been married too long. He ordered the exact same meal.

I loved my dinner here! It was my first time to The Mustard Seed, so I let my server pick out my appetizer, entree, and paired wine -- but first telling her the few things NOT to pick and that if I was getting meat it should be cooked medium rare. Everything was excellent but I have to particularly rave over the Chocolate Croissant (bread) Pudding. I don't normally order or like bread pudding because... whoever decided that BREAD should be a dessert??? But when the "bread" is croissant -- yummmm.

That is some awfully and unnecessarily mediocre food. I was shocked and embarrassed to have taken a client from a food company there. I fell for the “if you want to impress someone” line in a review. But in some effort. Just seems like you don’t care anymore

The menu included nut crusted halibut which one of my dinner companions certainly enjoyed. My husband had the rack of lamb and he pronounced was excellent. I had the duck breast and mashed sweet potatoes…perfectly prepared.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Mustard Seed Restaurant and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I've been to the Mustard Seed previously and enjoyed their food and service. This time, I made a reservation for a special occasion - my daughter was graduating and we were looking forward to a celebratory dinner. The Mustard Seed had hiked their prices significantly for a special "Graduation Menu"that essentially had five or six entrees, all meat-based with one dish available as a vegetarian option. This itself was an issue, especially in a progressive college town. The food was really mediocre, with the fish being rubbery and the pasta being overcooked. While a salad or soup was included, paying over $60 for mediocre entrees in a lower-cost-of-living town really grated.
