The Mill on the River is a 200-year old Connecticut mill that has been converted into one of East's most esteemed restaurant and event venues. It is all about the historical experience and one-of-a-kind ambience and is not simply a meal - it's an overall dining enlightenment.
If you're with a group at The Mill on the River, it should be a dining prerequisite for you to order the Atlantic Ocean Rocks Tower. This Goliath appetizer comes with jumbo shrimp, clams, oysters, Maryland lump crab meat, cocktail sauce and remoulade sauce (as long as all of these items are freshly in season). Follow this with the blackened swordfish and you will experience a life-altering, culinary sensation. Sides are served à la carte so you can create your perfect meal and nothing less than perfection is served at The Mill on the River.

I am having reservations about booking on line for the Mill on the River in the future or even returning at all. My reservation for 3 people was made for 5:00. When my party and I arrived at 4:50, we were told that seating starts around 5:00 so to have a seat in the lobby. At about 5:05 a large party came in and was seated immediately. Had I not gone back up to the hostess, who knows how long we may have sat there?!
The Mill On the River is an awesome restaurant. Their food is delicous. Will definitely go back!
It was our anniversary and Catherine, our server, made our evening feel very special.
The meals were excellently prepared and we were treated to complimentary champaign and dessert. A class act that was appreciated.

Brought 2 girlfriends, one hadn't been there in years the other her first time there. Enjoyed having lunch outside. Our waiter was very good and very attentive. I had the chicken snitzle for the first time was very dry and very little flavor would never order it again. One friend had the fish special which was good and my other friend had the reuben which she enjoyed. Two of us had dessert was not good crust was undercooked and tough I have never liked the desserts there. We will go again but noticed prices have really gone up especially for dinners.
I ordered prime rib (medium rare) and it came out cold. Sent it back and came out cold again. Sent it back and was OK but now it was not medium rare anymore. It is quite obvious that they cooked and sliced this roast many hours before and upon ordering, it was then impossible to get it back to proper serving temperature without overcooking it.
My wife and I had another great meal. We have been going to this retaurant for 41 years since we started dating (previously Podunk Mill). We have never been disappointed.
The food was very good. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale rustic. The resteraunt is an old mill on the Podunk River. My fiancé and I are kinda foodies so we a little more picky than average. Our meals; Medalian Trio (beef, pork, veal) VERY tender, asked for medium but got medium well, nicely seasoned. Creamy polenta was excellent, with broccoli rabbe. Blackened Redfish; 30 seconds more cook time it would have been perfect. Jalapeño slaw was good, rice pilaf was a little bland. We had 2 Grey Goose straight up Martinis that could have been colder and had an odd sweetness to them, maybe a different brand of Vermouth than we use. Cappuccinos after dinner were perfectly made! Solid 4 stars, 4 1/2 with a little more attention to detail.

Excellent atmosphere, perfect spot for a wedding or romantic dinner. Staff attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic and we were treated to a special anniversary toast and dessert. Could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our 25th at the same place we had our reception in 1990.
The fixed price menu offered lots of choices. We enjoyed our dinners immensely.
This place never disappoints! We got married here in April (amazing) and this is our go to date night dinner. Yesterday was our first brunch experience, and it was awesome! Jordan, our server always remembers us when we come in and always makes excellent recommendations from wine to food. We love The Mill On the River!!!
Mill on the River was a last minute choice for the four of us , but we are so glad we made it! We were seated at a lovely window side table, ordered a delicious cheese platter to share and were allowed to enjoy our wine and conversation instead of being rushed to order dinner. Our waitress was friendly and informative. Our dinners were all delicious and reasonably priced. We even get to watch a wedding on the back lawn. Can't say enough about this place...we will definitely be back.
Our server was courteous and the even took time to make our 25th wedding anniversary special. The meals were perfect. We are looking forward to going there again-
The restaurant is beautiful and the outside stunning. I was saddened that the plate I ordered didn't meet the expectations. My husbands was good but as it should be for the price. Mine was a combo and it all very mediocre and bland. Overall it was still a good night.
This is not our first time taking advantage of Mill on the River nor will it be our last. Getting a group of ladies to agree on something as varied as menu, setting, etc. is no easy task. Service was friendly and attentive even down to picture taking of our group. We are already looking forward to next year.
It was our first time going there to celebrate our anniversary and it was great. food was excellent and fresh. atmosphere was beautiful. Our waitress was excellent. The got our order perfect. it was very romantic and everything was lovely. We will definitely go back there

Had a great evening out with my wife. Service was great and our food were even better. I had the pork chop Milanese and I savoured every bite of it. My wife had a salmon dish and enjoyed it as well. Ambience was beautiful the evening we were there. As I had said, it was a great evening out. We will be back again.

My wife had the salmon. It was over cooked and dry. Looked like frozen piece of fish rather than fresh.
I had the stuffed frenched chicken. It was also over cooked and the bottom was chewy.
The ambiance was nice and we had a great table by a window.
My husband brought me to dinner for our anniversary. Thankfully we also had a gift card. The menu was diverse and they offered quite a few specials. We found the food to be good, but not extraordinary. The service was good and our server was polite and prompt. We were there on a Tuesday night so it was not busy at all. Overall, it was a lovely night out with my husband.
A reservation for two on the patio was booked through OpenTable. The hostess and manager would not allow us to be seated at a table of our choice. Their reason was that the table we selected was set to accommodate four guests. We were seated at a small "cocktail" table on the patio that was too small to accommodate an evening dinner. Throughout our dining experience the table we requested remained vacant. Prior to our departure, a party of two was seated at the table we requested. I was respectful conveying my seating request and the manager was rude to me while explaining his position for not accommodating my request. Second, the hostess/manager did not acknowledge our dining attendance with OpenTable. Our waiter "Erind", was the only positive aspect of the evening. Erind was polite and provided us with exceptional service; a true gentleman. This was an unfortunate experience and the manager's behavior was unacceptable.
Decided to visit the Mill for our anniversary dinner after having enjoyed the Sunday Brunch many times. Great choice! Food was good and the host and wait staff exceptional. By mentioning our anniversary in my online reservation the restaurant added a nice touch by serving complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and champagne at the end of our dinner. Nice touch and greatly appreciated!
I never had been but I heard good things about this restaurant and decided to go there to celebrate my birthday. So happy I did. The food presentation was amazing as well as the taste. It was very easy to reserve a table and looking forward to going back in the future.
My Wife and I have been here many times, this visit was special, our 51st Anniversary. The food and all employees are outstanding. You will not be disappointed if you decide come to this restaurant. They made our night very special.

This is one of my favorite spots to dine. They make a mean Southern Comfort Manhattan which we really enjoyed. The food was excellent as was the service. The only disappointment came with the dessert - coconut cream pie. I was expecting a cool, lusciously firm filling and what was served was a warm runny concoction. Oh well - I probably didn't need dessert anyway. I wish I would have stuck with my usual - apple strudel which is always top notch. I think this is the first time I've ever walked away slightly disappointed with dessert - which I must say - is one of my favorite parts of any meal!
Rediculous prices for very average food. Had the nerve to charge $22 for a small chopped salad with a few pieces of chicken. The restuarant is very dated. If you want fine dining, don't come here.

The whole evening was excellent. The level of service made us feel welcomed. It was such a nice experience.
Lots on menu to choose. For twenty dollars you can't beat the price. You get two drinks and your meal off the menu which also included a continental buffet consisting of fruit, cheese, Danish and bread, a pasta salad and desserts. Also cold cereal. The food was good.
A great place for an anniversary brunch.
Food was great as always but a little disappointed that you no longer get to sample more of the entré selections. You only can irder one and the fruit salad and pastry selections were a little limited
All and all however it was well worth the price especially if you like a couple libations with breakfast.

This will be the 4th time dining @ the Mill. Always great service, food & atmosphere is warm & pleasant? The brunch is excellent. The bar is comfortable. Outdoor seating is relaxing with great water views.

Food was exceptional and outdoor dining lovely. However, when dessert arrived it was a total disappointment. We ordered the chocolate molten cake and there was no hint of cake or molten! It was basically eating a cold syrup/pudding thing with vanilla ice cream and whip cream. Not sure what that really was!
The restaurant was beautiful with one of the best views. The server, Erik, was among the best I've ever had. Dinner was incredible, right down to the dessert. I can't can't say enough great things about this place.
The restaurant ambiance was very nice and elegant. The service was good and the server was friendly. My food was a little bit on the salty side maybe because I had the lobster pasta and lobster dishes usually are salty. Our appetizers of calamari and crab cakes were really good. Overall the dinner was good and I would go back again.
My in-laws love this restaurant, and after taking them to dinner there on Thursday night, I understand why! The menu has lots of great choices, and the specials were outstanding, as well. The pesto garnished swordfish that I had was extremely fresh, and the tomato and green bean base layer, was delicious! I highly recommend this neighborhood gem!
