The Melting Pot - Troy
Service and food was great, but they need to invest in some remodeling. The seats are in definite need of reupholstering! Really distracted from the overall experience.
We love the Melting Pot! We went for Fathers Day and the all you can eat entrée! It was awesome!
Great place to go and experience! Staff is awesome and food is good! It is a little pricey but it is worth to do every once and a while.
Our server was fantastic walking us through the menu as it was our first time there. Had a cute little secluded booth. Only downfall was our burner kept turning on and off so the meat took forever to cook. And then at the end the burner way overcooked the pad under the pan and smoked out our corner of the restaurant. They moved us booths for dessert, which wasn't a big deal, but a little awkward.
Had a great time. Really enjoyed it. It was Wonderful!!!! Food and service was how it should be - not like how a lot of restaurants are.
I was saddened to see the melting pot fall in many categories since my last visit. The restaurant was old, dirty, worn out and outdated. The staff was young, inexperienced and sloppy with presentation and explanations. Unfortunately the food was sub par as well and not a high quality. It seems that who ever is in charge of it now has just let the place go and have started skimping on quality in all categories. There was one waitress who seemed to know what she was doing however we did not have the pleasure of her help as she did not wait our table. The booths were dirty and old, the wood furnishings in the booth was dirty and old with stains from previous customers and years of wear.
Overall this experience was not pleasant as there was much to improve on.
Sad to see the melting pot fall this far over the last several years. Reminded me of being in a more expensive Applebee’s with the same quality food.
The food and service was fantastic and impeccable as always! The only suggestion I have is that the seats are quite run down and in need of replacement. It was very clean, with a quite lively crowd around us, and we will definitely go back, as it is our daughter's favorite place to eat! Friday night we were celebrating her leap into her Senior year next year! Thank you!
Our server was excellent and made our anniversary so fun!
Just went to catch up with an old friend. Didn't have much. However, the staff was helpful and courteous, giving us an excellent opportunity to catch up with minimum distraction. I'm very happy with the service and level of privacy we were shown.
Definitely did not live up to the hype. Spent $87 for lunch. Two people, 6 pieces of chicken, 6 pieces of steak, two drinks (never offered refills) and a bowl of cheese. Please save your money. Don't eat here.
The decor is horrid - shoddy and embarrassing
The food is AMAZING! It's my favorite restaurant of all times. The small problem that I noticed this time was that the booths are really old and falling apart. They definitely need to go through a make over. Especially with the prices, they should take care of these kind of things. It's a very expensive restaurant but it's definitely worth it.
We have visited the Melting Pot for years for special occasions. This will be our last visit. The portions have shrunk while the prices increased. The restaurant is showing its age, with booths that are peeling and breaking. The restaurant seemed to be way overstaffed, and we had no less than 10 people approach our table during our meal. It was disruptive and annoying.
We went for my Fathers Birthday and it was very good.
Favorite place, never disappoint
My only complaint was the service was slow. Our server was great, however, it was painfully obvious the restaurant was understaffed thus causing delays in service. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
Incredible waiter who engaged in conversation with our whole table. Very friendly and went above and beyond in service!
Amazing service for my girlfriend and I for our anniversary. Everyone was very nice and helpful in menu recommendations from the cheese to the wine and the chocolate. Also my girlfriend was served the wrong pasta and was given the correct pasta with no questions asked and very quickly when we raised the problem initially. Great staff, great food, great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
I enjoyed the time I spent at the Melting point. I particularly enjoyed cooking the food. The chocolate fundue was delicious. Our server was helpful and courteous.
I've been to this location three times with a reservation, and all three times I've waited 30 minutes to be seated. Empty tables, not enough busing. The hostess staff members need to organize or get earbuds for better communication instead of running all over the Restaurant over and over... so inefficient. The wait staff each visit has been ok when they get to the table, but why am I waiting 15 minutes between being greeted, drinks, ordering, and much longer between courses? I fully understand and expect to spend 2 hours here, but every time it's been 3 hours or more due to slow service at every point. Food is best when your party is 2 or 4. Portions are not correct when you have 3 like my last visit (cheese and dessert courses specifically). Probably my last visit to this location. Been to one in Arizona and my experience there was much better.
We went on Mothers Day and the amount of time we had to wait for our food was unbelievable. We were sitting at our table nearly an hour before they even brought out our first course. They put so much cajun seasoning on our meat it was uneatable. We will never be back to this Melting Pot. I wish the one in Ann Arbor hadn't closed.
Management needs to be better prepared for busy shifts , holidays. I manage a restaurant and I had lots of anxiety watching the events that took place. So many customers were complaining and unhappy and nothing was done. Quick way to lose customers
Had to wait almost an hour WITH a reservation. Manager said it was due to a holiday but found out they were just short staffed. Had to constantly wait for everything (20 min to get water). Our server was doing the best he could and was nice.
We attempted to go here for Mother's Day. Upon arrival, the host informed us that the restaurant was running 45 minutes behind our reservation time, but people in line told us that the real delay was "well more than an hour". Needless to say, we found somewhere else to celebrate.
Unfortunately this is becoming the standard experience at the Troy location. More times than not, they are not ready to seat us at our reservation time. When we do manage to eat here the service is really slow. It's a shame that the Ann Arbor location closed, because it was always a good dining experience.
Normally I would but this weekend the service was pretty bad. I had reservations at 3:30 but did not have a seat until 5.
Yet again, another fabulous experience!!! Will most definetly be going there again!!! It’s the perfect place to celebrate any occasion!
The wait for us to sit WITH a reservation was 45 minutes and after we were seated, it was another thirty minutes before we were given water. We were told 3 servers quit on the spot and they’re backed up. We had a 2:15 reservation and there was several other parties with reservations for the same time. I would think that reserving that many people for one time slot defeats the purpose.
Disaster of a Mothers day lunch. Over an hour late waiting for our table. Drinks took forever. Waitress quit during service. Dishes piled up while the place was hot and cramped. Meal was discounted but after 4 and 1/2 hour debacle that had my family exhausted and disgruntled it wasn't enough to forgive ruining our Mothers Day meal.
We didn’t get sat until almost 230, took 20 mins if if had to guess to get drinks, she didn’t get the shrimp she ordered, water water always empty. We come to melting pot a almost once a month and this was totally unacceptable. I get that it was a holiday but I was told they only had one bartender? The waitress was very nice, but never was around much.
Had a reservation at 1:30 and waited 45 minutes in a small lobby! Many people waiting to be seated all during our stay. Service was extremely slow. Waited 20 minutes to get a drink and waitress had to add broth to the pot because it boiled away waiting for food! I have been going to the Melting Pot for many years and this experience was just unacceptable. May complaints from others as well. I should be given a refund after spending almost $200.00 for dinner. May be a while before I return.....
Awful 1st and last experience.
We realize it was Mother’s Day too but we were seated at 1pm for our reservation and left at 3:40 pm.
The facility was dirty the seats were very poor and falling apart, the walls were dirty, our table had a piece missing and seemed like it was falling apart. I don’t recommend this place to anyone and sad to say it wasn’t a good birthday dinner.
The food was okay but took forever for cuts up breads, raw meat and cut up dessert. Almost 4hours for dinner service and for foundry that is not acceptable!!
We have been to The Melting Pot on numerous occasions - but never on the holiday. This time we went on Mother’s Day. The restaurant was severely understaffed. We were seated after 15 minutes of waiting. Another 20 minutes later a waiter came and we placed our order. An hour and 15 minutes after our reservation, we got our first course but no drinks. After this course we had to remind the waiter about them. The entire dinner took 3 hours. There was a huge wait for tables. If we hadn’t ever eaten at the Melting Pot previously, we would never return. Now - we will never go to the Melting Pot on a holiday.
I would give it zero stars if I could. I have been to other Melting Pot restaurants before, but this was hands down the worst experience I ever had. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. Had a noon reservation for Mother's Day, which included two young kids. Once we were finally seated, it took 25 minutes to get drinks. After our waitress had twice appeared at the table next to us, we politely reminded her about our drink order (iced tea, coke, milk, lemonade, glass of wine - nothing difficult). Her response was, "Yeah, I know." It was clear she was overwhelmed and the restaurant was understaffed. After we had our cheese course and salad, we had to wait an hour for for our entrees (which brought us to an elapsed time of over 2 hours). This was completely unacceptable given that it was a specific menu for Mother's Day - not even the whole menu. Clearly not well planned, prepped, and/or managed. At the 2.5 hour mark one of our party members had to depart, not even being able to finish her meal - Happy Mother's Day! After we finished our entrees and waited another 45 minutes for the chocolate. When we finally got the bill it included an overcharge (which did get fixed). Close to hour four, we finally left the worst Melting Pot ever.
The management was awful because they were non-existent. Not once during the four hours did a manager stop by and ask how our experience was or what they could do. A simple acknowledgement by management that they were sorry for the unacceptable delays would have gone a long way. But there was nothing from them because they did not stop by. Even nicer would have been some sort of discount or attempt to make it up. But there was nothing, and because of the management of this restaurant, I will not return unless they attempt to make it up, which is something they should do for a meal that cost $250. The waitress clearly tried her best, but was not given the help from management she needed. Thank you for ruining Mother's Day brunch.
Had a great birthday all thanks to our wonderful server Kaila, she really went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience.
Mom, my brother and I went to the melting pot for a Mother’s Day dinner and we left hungry and disappointed.
We had a reservation for 7:30 and we were sat promptly no later than 7:35 which was great. Our waitress Felicia came to our table and we actually put our whole order in at the same time as the drinks. The first and second courses (cheese fondue and salad) came out on time. Then the dinner took a down hill spiral.
We didn’t see Felicia for over an hour and a half. It was after 9:00pm before we received any of our “entrees” which I put in quotes because it was the smallest amount of food ever, especially for $40 and $50. Mind you, your food comes to you RAW. They are not cooking your food, so I truly have no idea other than she forgot as to how it could take that long to bring out raw meat.
Even though it finally got to our table after 9pm, we still had to wait to eat because we had to cook the food. Not only did it take forever to get the food, but asking for refills, paper napkins, salt and pepper shakers etc took so long.
Though the manager came to apologize for the extremely long wait, he also told us not to use butter/water/any liquid on the grill (due to lack of ventilation) even though the food had no oil/fat and was clearly sticking to the grill and we ordered potstickers which clearly need water to steam.
Overall we had a 7:30 reservation which we were on time for and we did not leave the restaurant until 10:45pm. That is longer than it takes to see a movie. The only enjoyable part of this experience was the chocolate fondue and the plate that comes with it. That was phenomenal. At least they brought us 4 half inch squares of extra cake.
BOTTOM LINE: If you decide to go, go for chocolate fondue only. Eat real food somewhere else first.
Our waiter Evan was by far provided the best we've had since we've been visiting the Melting Pot.
I'm glad I've been here before because if I was reviewing on this this visit alone I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service was terrible. Took over 3 hours to eat. Sat without drinks or even water for much of the time. Celebrating a birthday and that was not even acknowledged. The food was great and it is normal that it takes longer to eat here, but not over three hours.
Took a long time to get food. But they were busy so I’m not holding that against them
