I had made a reservation for a party of six my birthday. We were seated 20 min late, the area around the table was not clean, we weren't even brought water for ten minutes, the drinks took a long time (after our salad arrived), they ran out of glasses, out of ice, they didn't have vegan cheese for some of our party (they were only going to get cheese and chocolate) and they finally comp'd us with taking the vegan cheese off the meal and providing a gift card for the value of cheese fondue for next time but only after asking. The bathrooms didn't even have mirrors, and then on the bill there was a surcharge of 4% of the total bill for so called "government mandates" -whatever that means. Overall, I would not go back. For the price of our meals (over $500 with tip) really expect much, much more.
Almost comically bad service - we had to ask three times for plates, cocktails took 45 minutes to arrive, food came out all at once rather than in courses. Food was good when it (finally) came, though you can skip the cocktails.
An amazing three hour experience! My third time visiting The Melting Pot. It’s a bit pricey but always worth it!
Our server Latoya was very friendly. She made our experience so much better. Thank you Latoya!
42nd Anniversary a special time. Glad you’re open!
Sure wished they’d clear out the homeless camp under the freeway. Pretty sketchy area, not feeling real safe returning to parked car in the dark.
Service was rough. New staff and not confident in presentation and process. Parking also a challenge. Don’t forget your cc - it’s an expensive night out.
celebrated my wife’s 70th birthday our waitress was cordial and responsive experience overall very good!
It was first time at restaurant. Good experience!
Went there for our 5th anniversary hoping it would be a fun outing.. it was a huge waste of money. 1st course, cheese with bread and apples, broccoli and carrots. Bread was not fresh. Carrots don't go with cheese. 2nd course was a nice salad, no complaints there. 3rd was all of the meats and veggies, with several sauces, not bad. The Coq au vin lacked the intense flavor you'd expect from a burgundy based sauce. Dessert was a decent chocolate with some no-so-fresh waffles, assorted fruits, and some oversized marshmallows. Not perfect but good.
Wine flights were offered which seemed appealing, but in hindsight there is no way to pair wines with so many cooking options.
When the wines did arrive with each course, they were worse than the last. These wines were AWFUL. Not only were the flavors confusing each other, but the wines are stored on a wall, in their west-facing bar. In short, these bottles were roasted. One glass came to us warm, almost hot. Their dessert wine was worse than cherry-flavored cough syrup. Needless to say, it ruined the dining experience.
We will not be returning.
Our cooking oil was too hot and was burning our food. We told our server, she did nothing. We turned the heat down, it was still burning out food, and we had to call the server again to try and get a resolution. For the price of the meal, to have a portion inedible was unfortunate.
Excellent customer service
We came in for a “low key” birthday dinner and the staff was very accommodating about the low key part, but still brought out a small birthday treat with desert, so that was nice. We had the Thursdate special which was easily more food than we could finish. The staff was very professional and friendly. Friendly almost to a fault, our server was great but a little too chatty with the questions and a bit later the manager came but and chatted and asked us more questions haha. We enjoyed the friendly interaction though, it just might have been a little too much.
The food was great really enjoyed the cheese appetizer and salads, the entrees were also quite good, my favorite was the teriyaki beef. I wasn’t too crazy about the salmon cooked in the wine though.
For desert we had the flaming turtle which was fabulous. We had a great time; really enjoyed the food and staff. I think the value was right in there too. We will definitely be back.
Service was great not overwhelming but checked in and helped when needed. Food was amazing!
Great server always an opportunity to slow down and enjoy food and company
great place for special occasions, a very different dining experience, do not be in a hurry because to savor the experience you have to take your time
Super fun. Great service. We had a good time there.
Anniversary dinner we never ate. Sat there for nearly an hour, only received 2 sodas, and then told our order was deleted and could we try again? We had other plans. Not a busy night or time. Cannot comment on food.
Melting pot is great for a date night and special occasions. We highly recommend if you like to enjoy great food and great company to go here.
Very enjoyable dinner with my wife. Nice to get out after being home for so long during the pandemic.
Thank you, Bob! We are so happy to hear you had a wonderful evening with your wife. We're just as happy to see all of our guests as you are to be back! See you again soon.
Gustavo is an amazing waiter that gave the perfect meal and wine recommendations. Very personable and helped make my moms birthday a great experience (she almost cried when he brought the birthday plate out). Other staff also contributed to the experience including Ennye and another woman whose name we didn’t catch. It was our first time at the Melting Pot and I can assure you with this visit and the staff that helped us, we will be back again!
Eating here on New Year’s Day should of been discounted when we sat down to enjoy our evening. We learned how our server got burnt by someone else who didn’t cover her pot. Then our salads were delayed coming out of the kitchen. Our server informed us that is was because the spring mix was all welted. So we need to order either the house or ceasat salad. For our main meal when the dips came out you can tell that they were placed in cups probably the night before as you can turn them upside down and none of the dip would come out!!! For dessert they ran out of cheesecake.
Just very disappointed for a 400 meal it sure wasn’t worth it!!!
While the food and atmosphere were great, our evening was off to a rough start as the restaurant had been over booked. We understood that to be due to a technical glitch and it appeared like the staff was trying their best to accommodate but we weren’t seated at our table until 40 minutes after our reservation and it took another 30-40 minutes to even get our first course from there. Needless to say we were quite hungry by the time we finally did receive our food And the delay left a bad impression with my boyfriend as it was his first time at the melting pot. The staff was apologetic for the delays, and again it appeared as if everyone was trying their best. The food was overall good and we did ultimately enjoy our time.
Even though we had a reservation that required a credit card deposit, still had to wait > 40 min to be seated. Explanation was that place was busy, which is understandable but management should do better in managing customer flow, especially if requiring them to place deposits for reservations.
Next, we were taken to the table. Carpet around it extremely dirty but table was OK. At first. No one cleaned the table throughout our session between courses. This being a fondue place the table was pretty messy but waitstaff did not notice or preferred not to deal with it.
We has drinks we got from bar so more drinks weren’t even offered.
Compared to previous visits at same site, our experience felt abbreviated and rushed. The bill was not abbreviated though.
Again, was a special night so place was very busy. But one of the main reasons to go to a restaurant on a special night is to have a nice experience. If Melting Pot Tacoma cannot deliver it to such a large number of customers, they should adjust how many reservations they accept to provide good service.
My wife and I had a 7:00 PM reservations for New Years Eve. At 7:30 PM, we had still not been seated. Apparently there were a large number of customers that were slow to vacate their table when they had finished their meal. When we asked about our table, the hostess who was under a lot of stress snapped at us and advised us a table would be ready when its ready. She suggested that we eat in the bar, and we found a table. The Bar was noisy and crowded and not the usual nice and quiet table location we were looking forward too. The meal was average and it took quite a while to even get our water and to place our order. The food was not up to the standard we have come to expect from the Melting Pot. To be fair the manager did take a substantial portion of our bill, however it was still somewhat pricy. Based on this experience, I don't think that we will be patronizing the Melting Pot for special occasions in the near future.
Went out for the special 2020 New Year’s Eve dinner menu. It was utter chaos. I appreciate that it’s super busy and they are probably short staffed, but water glasses not refilled all night and an hour between salads and entrees with an automatic 4% ‘surcharge’ AND a 20% tip added to the bill ($230 for two people) - not kosher. I have slightly higher expectations that weren’t quite met tonight. Still a good meal, so will probably be back, just not on such a busy night!
Wonderful food, excellent and knowledgeable staff and cozy ambiance! A great special date night.
Had News Eve dinner with my daughters
Server was amazing and super friendly
Service was great! Attentive and informative. We hadn’t been I. 16 years. Glad we went back!
We had a very enjoyable evening. Our waiter was great and we enjoyed the food. We did have to wait for about 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation time but it was worth the wait.
You should eat here, that's all that's to it!
Wonderful. The food was exquisite. Our server was fantastic. Our food choices Devine The Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese is our favorite. House salads to go for a late night snack. Mojo cooking style with natural chicken, Memphis Pork and shrimp for dad and Natural chicken and Memphis pork x2 for me. Finished off with flaming turtles
I would say normal experience for every time I go to the melting pot, except this time.. the water that makes the steam under the pot ran out and made this horrible burning smell and smoke and she awkowledged it but didn’t fix it... it was very bad smelling and making the whole room smoky and smell...
We love the Melting Pot experience! They've scaled down the menu quite a bit so it is a little more complicated to decide what to order. The bill was complex as well. We made it through, though! The food and ambiance was wonderful. Our waitress was awesome as well.
I would recommend this restaurant only for the convenience of parking and dining before an event at The Tacoma Dome. However, on our day the service in the bar for one of the six-top tables was ridiculously slow, and the bar & restaurant was far from busy. The server laughed at one of our guy's orders of a lavender cosmo (he's a big burly guy, but...) and then things just went downhill from there. Everything from cutlery to drink orders had to be reminded several times. Perhaps they just had an off-day.
We don't get in here often, but when we do we do it up right. Another fantastic meal. We are always thankful for great meals like we get here.
One of our favorite spots to go for date night.
