Experience was nice and the food was good.
The service is great and the community shared experience is wonderful. I personally think the booth seating is rather uncomfortable. The tables seem rather high considering I'm dipping into a pot in the center of the tables.
We enjoyed our visit very much. We brought the kids for the first time and they ate every bite! The chocolate fondue makes a wonderful finale. Our server Tony is always friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We will definitely be back!
Was pressured into getting a “more expensive” option. Our server was really more a used-car salesman than he was a server trying to sell us food items. Food wasn’t worth the money. Taste was mediocre.
Seated in the back even though we booked our reservation well in advance and the restaurant was not busy. Air conditioner was blasting, took a while to get turned off. Until then we were freezing. Seated adjacent to an obnoxiously loud person. Again, restaurant was not packed, we could have sat anywhere. Finally, overpriced cocktail was watered down. Probably because it was sitting at the bar until about a quarter way through our meal. Servers were sweet, young, and a bit green, so not mad at the service. Just a few too many misses in my book for a special occasion (birthday) dinner.
Excellent food. Wonderful service. They made my wife’s birthday very special. Thank you melting pot
The staff was friendly! Great food! Good overall experience especially for a anniversary occasion 👌🏼
Our server Tony was excellent. Made our visit better than expected which is quite a lot!
No hostess to help us for about five minutes. The bartender working about four feet away did not even acknowledge our presence; I walked all around the restaurant, even upstairs, looking for someone, and yet he still did not help us. Water and drinks were slow to arrive and not often refreshed. I ordered a "flight" of wine tasting which was to be paired with each course. They forgot to start it with the first course, so the "tasting" experience was not paired with each course and I couldn't even finish the final glass. The cheese and chocolate course were fun and delicious, but the main course was more gimmicky than tasty. I had a $100 gift card, but at the end of the meal I was told I could only use it at the other Melting Pot location. There was no mention of that limitation anywhere on either the Cohn Brothers website, the restaurant website, or at the restaurant. We went for our anniversary, but felt the overall experience was less than romantic and mostly a buzz-kill. Not only would I not recommend this restaurant, I would recommend NOT eating here.
Made 7PM reservations and waited 25 minutes to be seated. Once seated upstairs, realized there were VERY FEW Customers... so why the long wait?
It took another 20-25 minutes before anyone came to the table.
The food took 45 minutes ........
on and on and on.
Arrived 6:55. Departed 10ish. RIDICULOUS.
The food was average or less.
Two people, no alcohol, nothing special for $140.00. Crazy.
It was a terrible dining experience. After being seated we waited 30 min and no one even came to take a drink order. They had someone in an Easter bunny costume running around, we ended up asking him for our drinks. Someone came and apologized and sent the waiter over for our food order. When we got the first course we stopped the waiter during mid presentation because there were hairs stuck to the mozzarella he was pouring into our fondue pot. 20 min later he comes back out with more cheese. From then on it took about 25 min from finishing one course to get the next. Took a grand total of 3.5hrs to finish.
Not related to my meal, but we did watch the waiter drop a plate full of food on a baby's head. The manager never came out to apologize to that family. I was angry for them.
Service was great! She was pleasant and helpful. Gave recommendations and suggestions.
We had a great experience here. especially the staff and Jonah, our server, made our night special. He was so helpful with ordering and checked on us often.
Theresa was fantastic. She's a great server with enthusiastic service.
Always enjoyable and what makes it better are the people, especially Tony.
it was more expensive than we anticipated but would eat there again. Very good personalized service that tells you what and how to cook
My husband and I came for our 2year wedding anniversary, definitely an amazing experience. We had never been here before, it’s Definitely a special occasion place for us. But we will definitely be back and I’ve already spread the word about the Melting pot.
Wife loves this place. We go back for special occasions. Always a good time
What made our experience each time we have visited is the staff. Always attentive and super friendly.
This last trip it was Nick who made our time here enjoyable. Just a great all around person and he actually likes his job.
Thanks Nick for helping our family enjoy a really enjoyable time.
The only drawback here is parking. If there isn't any on the street it is a mandatory 9.00 valet. But even their staff was friendly, smiling and helpful.
Awesome as always. This was the first time we brought our kids. They loved it. Our 8 year old son said we should come here again tomorrow LOL.
We had a 1:00 reservation but didn't get seated until about 2:00. Our server didn't greet us until 2:15. We loved our server Kate when she did greet us. Still love this Melting Pot and will go back again and again.
It was raining and we got sat upstairs and the roof was dripping on our table. So we had to move. Then we sat and waited for a server for over 15 minutes. The food came quickly and was delicious. The drinks took forever and the server never checked back after he would bring a new course. He was friendly and his recommendations were great but he was mostly absent. GREAT food, good atmosphere, fair service.
My wife and I came here for our 18 year anniversary. Being that it was our first time, we didn't know what to expect. Our waiter was great at explaining how everything worked and gave us plenty of time to make decisions. The entire night was great and the restaurant was kind enough to bring out a plate honoring our anniversary.
Great food and service.
Food fantastic, manager extremely friendly, waiter very nice- my only minor issue was the service. The server was friendly..... just forgetful. We would ask for things he would say “right away” ... then forget. We needed more vegetables and he forgot, we needed New skewers for dessert but we didn’t get them. My husband ordered more fruit and cookies for the remaining chocolate.... never came. The choc started to burn so I turned down the heat.
The waiter was very apologetic and kind.... he was just forgetful. We would go back and try again-
Awesome place to celebrate 2 birthdays!!!, the service was good
This a great place for a dinner date. It is romantic and makes eating super fun. I love the various courses and the food is wonderful.
Bog Night Out is the right choice on the menu. Awesome food. Great service
We were seated downstairs and it was freeeezing! Granted, it was one of the coldest days of the year. The fondue experience is fun, but the food is so and so. Some none fondue options would be nice to have in addition. Dessert was divine!
Server was very accommodating as we had never “fondued” before. Had our cheese fondue erupt with hot water spewing across table- made us a little nervous the rest of the night. Wisconsin cheese was excellent.
Very nice place, also kid friendly. Service and food was great.
We took our 14 year old son for the first time and he loved it! Our server was amazing and attentive. My personal favorite was the cheese and dessert courses! My husband and son loved the teriyaki steak. It had been awhile since the last time we were there. We will definitely be going back very soon.
Wonderful experience. If you do the full four course experience, expect to be there about 2 to 2.5 hours total. Highly recommended.
Always a great time at The Melting Pot La Jolla. The food was great, the service was good, and the experience was overall fabulous.
Belated Valentines dinner♥️
We love the melting Pot !!
Our server was wonderful. Food and drinks were delicious! All completed in very timely manner!
After setting up the reservation for my sons 18th Birthday, I received a phone call, not recognizing the phone number I did not answer it but The Melting Pot left a message that they needed to speak to me to confirm our reservation. I immediately called back and got an automated message that asked I hold while being transferred only no one picked up and the call hug up. I tried 3 more times, my wife tried twice the same night and twice the next morning with either the phone ringing with no answer or the same message with being hung up on. This was strike one . Our reservation was at 7:45 and we arrived at 7:37. We were told it would be just a few minutes and we would be seated. We were called to be seated at 8:10 only to stand at the host stand and wait while the hostess went to check to see if our table was ready. Strike two. I have to say, the service was spot on. We enjoyed the appetizer cheese, bread, apples & veggies as well as the dessert of s'mores chocolate with cake, brownies, fruit. The main course we did not enjoy as much, if you like boiled steak, chicken, pork, you will love the food but it had no taste, even though the supply you with a variety of dipping sauces. In the past, we were offered more choices (two cheeeses, two types of cooking styles for the main course and two different desserts so it felt more like we received more of a value. This time for the cost (almost $300 including the tip for 4 of us) we don't see the value. If there is a next time, we might try the other location and we'll go for the appetizer and dessert.
We brought two of our closest friends for a special occasion and since neither of them had ever been we really hoped for a great experience. The food itself was great, but the service certainly left a bitter taste in our mouths, even after dessert. Just a few things that went wrong from start to finish, we arrived five to ten minutes prior to our reservation time, once checked in we were told it would be just a few minutes for our table. We were not sat until fifteen to twenty minutes after the reservation time. Everything was fairly smooth through our salads, it was maybe five to ten minutes after we finished that our coq au vin was set before us on the burner. After it was placed, at least twenty minutes passed before anyone checked on our table, when someone came by it was a completely different server who asked if we needed anything. She was very nice and helpful and she brought us our main courses and sauces. Once served she came back awhile later to check on us and one of my friends asked if we could get a new sauce since ours had hair in it, she apologized and was prompt to bring us a new one. About fifteen minutes, give or take, into our main course I noticed that our burner had turned off. It took five or ten minutes of trying to flag someone down before I stood up to find our original server and told her that our burner had been shut off. Apparently this wasn't a simple button to fix and she had to call over a man, maybe a manager, to crawl under our table and fix it, this took another five or ten minutes before they figured it out. After it was fixed we waited another five to ten minutes for it to heat up again and then we finished the rest of our meals and dessert without issue. Overall I spent over $300 and was hoping for a great night with our friends on a special occasion and what we got was a series of problems that continued to detract from the overall experience, overall maybe two out of five.
TLDR: A lot of waiting and lack of service, also a hair
We had to wait 45 min past our reservation because the management did not schedule enough people or overbooked the restaurant. By the time we sat down we were too tired to enjoy the meal. The food was good and the service was ok. But waiting so long for what we got was not worth it
